I came across this on a site and I wonder how true it is.... if the data is this much and can be shared as they claim, why isn't it all over this section in nairaland... CAME ACROSS THIS AND I SAW THE VACANCY FOR U GUYS AFTER SITP Shell May Sack 3,000 Workers This Week Shell Petroleum Development Company may this week fire 3,000 of its employees in Nigeria as it battles to survive in the wake of militant attacks on its flow stations. The massive sack, it was learnt, is being contemplated as a result of Shell’s dwindling fortunes largely because of the fall in its oil production quota. Apart from the permanent staff that are likely to get their sack letters this week, others who are classified as casual workers may also be asked to go. Before the era of militancy in the Niger Delta, Shell was producing up to a million barrels of crude oil per day. But the situation has since changed for the worst. It was learnt on Monday that Shell’s production now hovers round 400,000 barrels per day. Although the company has argued that the sack option was being considered because of what it called the One Shell Initiative. Daily Independent learnt that most workers on levels 1 to 3 have already been listed for sack while the lists of those in the categories of superintendents up to artisans are being compiled. The insinuation has been that the company was embarking on the sack exercise to enable it increase the quota of its expatriate staff. It was this argument that prompted a meeting between the company and some officials of the Federal Government last Friday. It was not clear whether the government’s intervention might affect the release of the final list of the affected employees this week. DAILY INDEPENDENT |
didnt you guys see the guardian report? there is a major shake up in shell and its not unconnected to the militant activities in the region. how do we expect a company loosing income to recruit more staff and pay heavily? the only luck we could get is being exploited, really think about it, shell would rather lay the heavly experienced hands and employ newbies like ourselves and pay less with some other insentives missing. but we would accept since we seem jobless and in the end get paid like banks do pay. im still wondering why agip doesnt even do any advert for freshers, thats by the way for those who have done medicals good luck at least when the wait is over you would be called, and those still waiting for medicals, keep ur fingers crossed, |
one thing to add when you go 4 d interview makew sure u learn the recent developments in yr own field cos wen i was interviewd i messed up in that aspect i was asked some questions about engineering that left me unbalanced. and also learn about their organizational structure and their products as he rightly pointed out, good luck 2 u guys called |
a lot of we engineers dont really see the future. we are engroosed in this huge get money fast scheme. im also a victim wht do you expect when u finish school and u realize you have a lot on your shoulders, i mean guyz lets face the fact if you value the engineering proffesion then youy would accept the 30k job for a start and get the experience then we can face shell and all the other E&P as professionals wit experience. Its worth doing what you luv, but the bank pays what the hell?, |
nigeria is not ripe for things like this, |
you can download it and lots more on www.musicfromefe..com |

hi all i wrote d shell tst of ystd so i just felt i shld let y'all kno that all u kneed to have is time. u have to be fast cos no one will tell u 5 min more, all ul hear is start then stop. as per the test its not hard and not to easy, its in three parts numerical, verbal and another mind twisting part where u deal with shapes(cant remember the name) but they are all shl tsts wish yall luck |
i got the same message just hope our time slots fall in to a suitable time |
i would give them a 80 % rating for day 1 and a 40% rating for day 2 the fair had a good intention (thks 2 nike) but the companies invited were the flop. they were no ready to employ from the vast resources of undergraduates available to them at the fair som were even telling us to go online to drop our cv's so what did we come for? its just the next few months tht would tell us the result of this fair and would either take it from 40 up or down, |
