ChrisKels: Some people are seriously calling for Boniface to be dropped after just a few matches? Dude has not even had a poor match, but has just been unlucky with goals, yet all these noise? Make una dey calm down.
By the way, I would love to see what Arokodare could bring, because he seems aggressive.
In his last two matches he was poor. I supported him initially but truth be told he's had a number of games for an attacker to stamp his presence. I'm not even judging him based on his lack of goals, he's been unremarkable.
Samueltemi337: The way una take dey attack this Boniface sef he go be like e nor even dey play anything for the matches Make una calm down Boniface will deliver
He plays nothing. Point anything remarkable he's played.
elyte89: Meanwhile doctor, I noticed u av not made your opinion on d new super eagles coach …what’s ur opinion about his appointment or were u also disappointed I wasn’t employed?😊
zicky: What chance was he given to impressed that he messed up, but Boniface hasn't messed up his with zero goals in 11 matches. This our double standard eehhhh 🤦♂️
Boniface should be dropped for now and Dessers recalled. Let him go and continue his comedic stunts on X
chrisooblog: Agree that we shouldn't bring in too many new faces. Uche to strengthen the middle, Tella/Ejuke to put pressure on Chukwueze, and a fresh forward to bring dynamism from the bench.
elyte89: But I heard chelle is on his case ..he wants to add him up asap ,if possible b4 d Rwanda 🇷🇼 game
Yeah It's in one of those clips that I saw the guy. Chelle should not bring in more than two or three players now oo. We are at a crucial time. He should not make the mistake Eguavoen made in that our crucial world Cup qualifier against Ghana where he featured Bassey and Lookman as debutants
Kog45: Since 90s our best players have been Europe base players,no argument.
Exactly. I understand the sentiment about wanting local players to be part of the SE. But I feel that we should first raise the quality of the league so that we can find well rounded players after all most of the South African national team players are drawn from their home league
junnyjake: If you saw the nonsense Enyimba played against Zamalek yesterday and are still clamoring for them to be integrated to the SE, then your delusion and your appetite for mediocrity is very high.
This constant call for home based players to be part of the SE creates schizophrenic confusion in the minds of coaches. It's part of what finished Finidi.
Kog45: He would not have been better than Aina even if fully fit....Rohr just used Aina as scapegoat and even preferred Shehu Abdullahi over Aina.....Aina performance against Argentina friendly cost him a WC slot and outside foul that was mis judged for penalty against Congo made fans to write him off,as at then I knew he was better than Ebuehi and a day wonder Idowu.
Idowu na fraud. We must stop this attitude of making sudden picks on the eve of the world cup. We've been doing it for a long time. Keshi was the worst with Uchebo and Babatunde (although he played well)
TheGoodJoe has been right all along about identity. Its just that I no fit gree say that identity go be tikitaka. I am your brother in arms against that thing.
Definitely, we don't have an ID. While it has its draw backs, I think there's sense in having an ID. And of course, it must not be that accursed Tika taka
Joebie: I actually laughed. The writer is assuming that Chelle would seek equivalence or the closest profiles he used to execute the "Mali Template". I think that thinking is flawed considering Chelle most likely had linitations in terms of abilities of the available players in the Mali team. If he trully is enterprising, what he would see with the available players in SE is more potential and with that comes more possibilities for adaptation to produce even better outcomes.
Isnt it nonsesical to think Chelle would drop Aina for Sodiq, considerinf if Aina was a Malian availbke to Chelle at the time, Ola would have been a starter who would bring a diffemt dynamic to the Mali game? I see other erroneous points he made. Bassey as a left back, Boniface getting the nod over lookman. Yusuf a deep lying Midfielder etc. to the extent that I'm beginning to question what's in it for the writer.
If you get stuck on names of the players, you will miss the point which is that Chelle is dynamic yet with an identity. That sentiment is captured in the writer's first sentence where he said that "tactically, Eric has no ceiling". So when he mentioned Sodiq, I was merely bemused but that does not detract from the merit of his analysis. Ultimately, it's left to Chelle to deploy the tools at his disposal. Watch this video. It's not about particular players. It's about the overall coaching philosophy of the new gaffer
Odunayaw: I have enjoyed that account's analysis of Chelle however I coughed when I saw the not so subtle flattering of that Sodiq Ismail guy.
I no fit forget the shyte crosses that guy was playing under Finidi
Me too. I said Hmmmm ihefu dey here ooo but otherwise good analysis especially from the point of view of how his Malian team played. Good thing is his insistence on playing with an identity. That's what TheGoodJoe has been hammering on all these years.
Subzerooo: I still think 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 is our best formation given that it gives protection to our CCB Ekong, it actually fits Bassey who is best at LCB, Ola Aina and Bruno do best as flying wing backs, Iwobi is relieved of defensive responsibilities and can create at the top of the midfield three, and Lookman can dribble into the penalty box while Osimhen holds up the ball up front
Iwobi should always be deployed as the base of our attack where he can feed the attackers. He should be relieved of defensive duties. This does not mean he won't defend. All players are to defend but middle defense should not be Iwobi's primary responsibility.
JohnBullMySon: Didn't want to quote any of those long posts.
I'm mentioning this cause you keep on doing it. Not the first time, not the second, not even the third. Whenever someone mentions something about a black player in Europe, or something in that domain, whilst not referring to the global politics or immigration aspect of things, you quickly pick it up and turn in it into a debate on whether blacks can immigrate to Europe and whatnot.
If those topics interest you that much, there are folks on the politics section that can engage you on that. Not to be igniting these debates here. Alright?
Starboytwo: Sadiq Umar particularly baffles me to be honest... He scored a wonderful goal on his debut for Valencia. He took the ball, cuts in on his right(deleting 2 defenders) and calmly whip it into the net. Great beautiful Individual goal...
Problem is, earlier in the match, he had spurned a good free header about 6yards to the goal keeper, UNMARKED. He bundled wide. He is fond of scoring the harder goals and missing easier chances... He is Darwin Nunes brother...
Great goal anyway for Sadiq on his debut. If you see the way his teammates jubilated They were like "Thank God ooo 🙏🏾🙏🏾, he score this one.
Right from his Rio Olympics days I've never been impressed by him. He doesn't have what I call Super Eagles DNA
elyte89: Hopefully with d attacking football chelle wish to introduce back to eagles play, some “dead” strikers might rejuvenate deir goal scoring skills again .j am looking at boniface thriving well under chelle(hopefully)
As a sub maybe. I think he'd go with Lookman and Osimhen. They are quick, energetic and strong.
The little I've come to know about his style, you go run tire. I don't see Boniface being able to thrive in that kind of set up
JohnBullMySon: I have noticed that you like Ethnogeographic arguments and race politics, when someone makes a comment that doesn’t necessarily dwell on that, you will push things in that direction.
There are many threads on Nairaland where you can argue with people about these things all day. You guys are filling this space with stories most people are not interested in.
And then this particular comment about Sadiq Umar is on ethnogeographic argument? 🙄🙄
If it doesn't interest you, jump and pass. Besides, I've left the discussion on that topic. It's customary on this thread for us to make detours to such matters and I made just four post on the matter and deliberately declined to respond to the lengthy comment by M7even just so the matter ends.
Goke7: You have valid points and I really admire them but don't forget all this multiculturalism and changing demography didn't just happen by the will of those who migrated there, in fact, it was the making of the West as they saw it as an opportunity to enrich themselves at the expense of others (that's the fact) and one thing I detest is when they start kicking against what they created by themselves. The blacks who play for France didn't select themselves and impose themselves on the team, is their coach black? So they knew what they were doing all these while but because it is beginning to threaten their supremacy is the reason they are now crying foul and the reality is that they can't eat their cake and have it. They all took advantage of mass migration to get cheap Labour to maximize profit for Business. The West is very transactional in their dealings and doesn't do charity in any way and will continue never mind all this noise, it's not that straightforward. It's all about the cowries for them.
I agree with all you said but just know that they will be resistance which may even lead to bloodshed. Enoch Powell's dire prophecy in his speech 'Rivers of Blood' made over 50 years ago will happen.
