A Russian tank takes out a Ukrainian tank in rare Close quarters battle. Notice how the Russian tank charges onto the Ukrainian tank while the Ukrainian tank is still apparently looking for the Russian tank.
Technological superiority matters a lot in warfare.
There is a longer version of that video, the Russian tank was clapped a short while after.
SuperSixSeven: Because the RU intelligence service wrongly assumed that Ukraine will fall apart within days (like Afghanistan) when they attack UKR. Once things went out of hands they moved in unprepared troops that that were told to exercise at the border without providing them enough logistics, basic supplies and field engineering units.
And their tactics are just funny: They are still moving tanks on roads and enter urban areas without infantry. WTF? All they do now to minimize their causalities is to level cities with artillery as if this is WW2. As i said earlier this reminds me much of Yugoslavia in the 90s.
I was just a NCO in a mechanized battalion but it is clear that this campaign was a failure right from the beginning.
Plus the horrendous lack of logistics in the Russian invasion goes a good way in explaining the lack of numbers, units went in undermanned, one of the VDV units had 404 personnel out of an establishment of 550ish. And the idea they weren't out to capture areas outside the Donbas is belied by the fact that Rosgvardia units with public order kit aka riot gear, were some of the first units clapped near Kyiv.
shadowprimezero: Members of the Rwanda Defence Force and Royal Netherlands Army work side by side during convoy operations training as part of exercise Shared Accord 2019 in Gabiro, Rwanda, Aug. 23, 2019. SA 19, which took place Aug. 14-28, was focused on bringing together U.S. and Rwandan forces, African partner militaries, allies and international organizations to increase readiness, interoperability and partnership building between participating nations for peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic.
Sorry for the bother, but does anyone have any more recent pics of Rwandan ground forces? infantry, armour, SOF etc etc.
The probability of been hit at the front/sides is high and exploding right into the engine and occupants of the vehicle . The rear is much saver, incase of explosion.
Fuel canister/Jerry cans when hit don't explode. Fuel burns, vapor explodes. Even penetrating a car fuel tank, you'll rarely even get ignition of the fuel.
jakeporeshenko: What do police officers who are qualified combat divers do
Military combat diving is not the same as LE diving, even if some areas overlap..
Military style LE diving came about in Europe in the 70's. We have a lot of GOPLATS,Ferries, etc etc and it was thought that if a CT/HR etc situation ever occurred having a LE intervention capability with divers might be useful..everything from recce, surveillance all the way to direct action.
ActivateKruger: The key words here is "ALL MEMBERS". Those units have some of its members as specialised jumpers, with the STF all of its members including their dogs are jumpers.
The GIS for one are all qualed MFF, they are recruited almost exclusively from the 1st paratroopers regiment of the Carabinieri "Tuscania"...itself an elite unit.. GIS literally has a parachute on their badge..
Yes, Italy has a paratrooper law enforcement unit...
slimthugchimee: I just decided to do a little analysis on howmuch it costs to fully kit a single SBS soldier, well here its.
So it costs 1.1m naira to fully kit a single SBS soldier
I don't know if am right thou
I'm not sure how it stacks up in your part of the World but if I may.
Night vision googles-$500
Not sure what Russian NOD's cost but you will not get good Western NV kit for less then 2 grand. The fairly standard AN/PVS-14 monocular issued to infantry etc goes for close to 3 grand. The rather famous GPNVG-18 (those weird 4 tube NOD the SEAL wore on the bin Laden raid) are 40 thousand+ a piece.
Body armour-$300
Again not sure about where Nigeria sources its BA, but here you won't get much change out of 1500 Euros between the carriers, the hard plates and the soft inserts..
Knifes- $15
You won't get a quality knife for that, and if it's NSW types, they like their knives treated for corrosion etc, so the price goes up. Jusrt for an example the Italian SOF uses various knives from Extrema ratio, none of which you'll get for less then 300 Euros.
Elbow pads-$10 Knee pads-10
Mil spec ones are 4 or 5 times that minimum.
Bullet proof helmets-$90
That would barely cover the cost of getting it painted the OPs-core FAST helmet, which I think is the one the NNSBS uses, is north of $1300 a pop
So, sorry about this I know this pic was posted here a while back, but I have a question(s) Where/when/why/How is this lad from the Nigerian SBS wearing Irish Paddyflage camo..anyone any ideas?
It's not easy to find it in Europe, never mind further afield.
