Politics › Re: Governor Umahi Inspecting The Thickness Of A Concrete-Based Road by murphyibiam15(m): 9:38am On Feb 18, 2016
tubouncen:
How economic friendly is concrete road

Can last on heavy duty?
Is it cheaper than tarred road?
advantages of concrete based roads:

Areas paved with asphalt require more maintenance than those paved with
concrete. As a result, there is less need for repair crews to handle maintenance
of concrete streets and parking lots. This means less congestion and disruption
to work areas, and less danger to road crews and drivers alike.
Rigid concrete is also more durable than asphalt. This means that streets
paved with concrete are less likely to have potholes. The surface of concrete is
also better at preventing automobile skidding, keeping drivers and their families
safe.

also, Concrete pavement's life can range anywhere from 20-40 years. But when you
factor in annual maintenance, asphalt pavement can cost four to seven times as
much money to maintain. This saves you long-term on repair and maintenance.

IGBOPRINCE:
the truth is that we re all igbos but igbos re different from igbos by the looks, characters, lifestyles and behaviours. Even in germany or england, not all like themselves there.
Even in yoruba lands, they also discriminate/dislike so much concerning ijebus, awori, eguns and badagry peeps.

I only see them as igbo cos they said they re igbos and they speaks igbo language. Those characters of afikpos especially amasiri peeps , I personally do not like them, sometime I wandered if they re igbos, the same goes to nkanu and nsukka in enugu state. Though still better than afikpo. In anambra I don't like onitsha and obosi peeps too. Nobody should expects me to like all tribes in igbolands because they re ndigbos mbanu. it s only cohesion that can brings us in one unit. Thank q.
tell us where u are from then lets see whether we dont hate u too
nobody has the monopoly of hate...u seem to hate various igbo groups for only God knows why...i ask again where are u from?

I PRAY GOD TO CONTINUE TO KEEP NIGERIA AS ONE AND MAY NNAMDI KANU ROT IN JAIL AND MAY THEY NEVER BE ANYTHING LIKE BIA.FRA

Abagworo:
I have read where someone mentioned ChinenyeN, Abagworo etc. as trying to divide the Igbo nation, but tell me how united is it already when someone from one part could get up one day and condemn people that sold land to him and allowed him do business and make money. The Ikwerres suffered this same plight until the civil war "liberated" them from the "we are Igbo" hypothesis. We should learn from that event that any group can always be on their own and forge ahead even when everything suggests them to be part of a bigger group where they were once suppressed.
that hate about Ngwa people in Abia state is even small
come to Enugu and see how Anambra folks and other indigenes discriminate and hate Nsukka and Abakaliki/Ezza people u will weep for igbo nation..
the problem is that some parts of igbo land think they have got it all and therefore have they right to derogatorily insult others....thats why i personally have preferred ONE NIGERIA....igbo as a tribe lack unity and tolerance like hausa and yoruba people

Education › UNN Rated Best In Nigeria, 14 In Africa – Omeaku by murphyibiam15(op): 4:17pm On Feb 14, 2016
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, has been graded the best in the
country and among the best 2000 in the world in the latest Webometrics
ranking released in January this year.
The Webometrics University Ranking, which provides indicators for more than
12,000 universities in the world, is based on university web presence, visibility
and web access.
The ranking system measures how strongly a university is present in the web
by its own web domain, sub-pages, rich files and published scholarly articles.
The ranking system is premised on the belief that web presence is a reliable
indicator of the global performance and prestige of the universities and could
serve as an indirect way to measure efficiency of universities in the
performance of their tripartite function of teaching, research and knowledge
transfer.
Acting Public Relations Officer, PRO of the UNN, Chief Okwun Omeaku made
this known at Nsukka, saying that the improved rating of the institution was
not unconnected with the enhanced research efforts in the university following
the Vice-Chancellor’s encouragement and financial reward system.
According to Omeaku, the ranking which started in 2004 is updated every
January and July.
In the latest edition of the ranking, the UNN was rated the first in Nigeria,
1389th best university in the world and 14th best in Africa based on its
Google Scholar citation profile.
The University of Ibadan was graded 1608th in the World, 18th in Africa and
2nd in the country.
“In the penultimate Webometrics ranking, the UNN was ranked 7th in Nigeria
and 82nd in Africa, and had no trace in the global rating,” he said pointing
out that the administration of the university, under Prof. Benjamin Ozumba
had introduced a- publish-and-be-paid policy to encourage academic staff in
engaging in impact factor-based researches.
Under the policy, the university administration pays publication fees for
research papers that have been accepted for publication in journals with
Thompson Reuters Impact Factor.
The administration also undertakes to give cash rewards to staff who publish
in the approved Impact Factor (IF) journals.
Such reward ranges from N10, 000 to N200, 000 depending on the IF rating
of the journal.
The Ozumba-led administration also approved N100,000 as seed capital for
over 214 research groups in the university.
“The UNN is the only university in the country where staff are paid for
publishing research articles that will be considered for their promotions,”
Chief Omeaku, added.
Omeaku further said that the rating was the first sign of a glorious future for
the university. “The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ozumba, is determined to make the
UNN the best in Africa and among the top 10 in the world. That will happen
sooner than later,” he pointed out.

Politics › BIA.FRA: IP.OB, MAS.SOB Deny Alleged Seizure Of Merchant Ship By Members by murphyibiam15(op): 11:41am On Feb 03, 2016
MAS.SOB not divided—Chukwu
Merchant ship seizure not linked to Nigerian group —Defence HQ
By Nwabueze Okonkwo, Chimaobi Nwaiwu & Ugochukwu Alaribe
ENUGU —The Indigenous People of Bi.afra, IP.OB, and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of B.iafra, M.ASSOB, yesterday, denied alleged involvement in the seizing and threat to blowing up a merchant ship carrying foreigners.
IP.OB Media and Publicity Officer, Mr. Emma Powerful said IP.OB is a non violent group with responsible men in the society in Nigeria and in diaspora as members and therefore, cannot involve in any violent activity that may possibly harm or take the life of anybody from within and outside Nigeria.
He said: “Many people are sympathetic to the Bia.fran actualization cause because of the treatment meted to the entire Biafr.an land comprising the former Eastern Region. Many groups are also rising up to speak against the treatment meted to the IP.OB leader and Director of Radio Bi.afra, Mr. Nn.amdi Ka.nu who at present is being incarcerated in Kuje prison, and they can use any style to make their demand felt by the Federal Government but no IP.OB member has a hand in it.”
The allegation
An online medium had yesterday, reported that Biafra agitators have allegedly hijacked a merchant ship and threatened to blow it up with its foreign crew if government authorities do not release its detained leader agitating for a breakaway state of Bia.fra.
The medium claimed that a Defence Ministry source has allegedly confirmed that the hijacking occurred on Friday and called it “an act of sabotage.” The publication did not mention the name of the ship or where it happened.
The publication also alleged that the Defence Ministry source spoke on condition of anonymity because the issue is sensitive, saying the hijackers have given the government 31 days to free Ka.nu or they will blow up the ship along with its crew.
We don’t know about it —MA.SSOB
But the leader of MA.SSOB, Mr. Uchenna Madu, said that the group has no hand in the alleged hijacking of any merchant ship or any threat to blow up the alleged ship, because they are non violent and have no weapon to hold any ship hostage, let alone seizing and threatening to blow it with its passengers.
He said: “I am aware that a militant group sometime gave the Federal Government twenty one-day ultimatum to release Mr. Nn.amdi K.anu, failing which they threatened that they will do what will surprise the Nigerian government. May be it is the group, I do not even remember their name but I heard or read about that threat.
“You know that a lot of groups are springing up from the old Eastern Region to agitate for the actualization of the Sovereign State of B.iafra and as far as they are fighting for Bia.fra, we cannot disown them, but they have their own style which I think the Federal Government of Nigeria understands easily. If you are not violent, they will not understand and they will ignore you. So, we support the group if that is what they have actually done.
“We in MAS.SOB are not involved in violence, that is why they do not take us serious. They believe we are illiterate job seekers that are frustrated in life and decided to demand for B.iafra. They think that our own is to demonstrate peacefully and they will shoot and kill us and go into jubilation that they have dealt with us, but now, they have seen their match. We support the people if they have actually done that."
He further stated that “any method applied by any Bi.afra agitating group to ensure that the Federal Government of Nigeria respects its law and court orders is approved by MA.SSOB, but we in MA.SSOB have chosen the path of non-violence and we will maintain it until Biafra is achieved.
No division
MA.SSOB has also denied reports that the group is divided between the Ralph Uwazuruike and Uchenna Madu factions, battling for supremacy.
Addressing newsmen in Aba, Abia State, Leader of MAS.SOB, Chief Solomon Chukwu, who spoke through the organization’s National Director of Information, Sunny Okerefaor said that the group was planning to invade M.ASSOB headquarters in Okwe, Onuimo council area of Imo State to sack the Uchenna Madu faction.
He added that M.ASSOB cannot allow itself to be distracted by people he described as expelled members who are determined to sabotage B.iafra.
Ojukwu Memorial Library as 5th headquarter
According to him, “Ojukwu Memorial Library is our 5th headquarter. We started from Lagos to Aba to Owerri and Okwe and now back to Owerri. Okwe is MA.SSOB headquarters; it belongs to MA.SSOB. It has never been in contention. There are dissidents in every organization. You can observe it in every agitation. Uchenna Madu was our Director of Information, but he was expelled for anti-MAS.SOB activities. Anybody not authorized by MA.SSOB founder, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, is fake. The only MA.SSOB we have is the one headed by Chief Uwazuruike and it has been properly handed over to me. These are people being sponsored by the politicians.
“Uchenna Madu and other expelled members are just using MA.SSOB to collect money from politicians. Check who are behind the violence during pro-Bia.fra protests in Aba, Port Harcourt, Asaba and Onitsha? This tells you that they are not MA.SSOB members. Very soon, I will call Uchenna Madu to order. Whatever they are doing, we won’t fight them because we are non violent. But at the appropriate time, the world will know they are not our members.”
He disclosed that over 40 groups are fighting for the actualization of an independent state of Bia.fra, with MAS.SOB as the parent body and urged the Federal Government to grant unconditional release to the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Bia.fra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Seizure not linked to Nigerian group —Defence HQ
Meantime, military authorities in Nigeria have debunked reports in foreign media that Nigerian militant group with sympathy to B.iafra and I.POB hijacked a ship and are demanding the release of Nna.mdi Ka.nu by the Federal Government before the ship will be released.
Speaking with Vanguard on the development, Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig-General Rabe Abubakar said: “It is not true. The story about the hijack has happened but not within our waters and it is not under any particular group.
“But it (ship) is currently being guarded by Benin Republic Navy. The name of the Ship is MT Leondias (9279927), a tanker. The ship is presently in Benin waters, about 7.5 nautical miles, off Cotonou Port under the watch of the Benin Republic Navy.”
Plea for bail
Similarly, the General Overseer of Bethel Church of God Mission, Enugu, Bishop Amaechi Agbo has appealed to the Federal Government to order the release of the leader of Indigenous People of Bi.afra, IP.OB, Nna.mdi K.anu, for the sake of peace and tranquillity in the country, saying that although K.anu had already been denied bail by the court, the federal government can still use an executive fiat or prerogative of mercy to release him from detention, with a condition that he should deposit his two international passports (British and Nigerian) after which his trial would commence in earnest.
In his sermon during a special Sunday service that featured testimonies, ministration, healing and Bible studies, Bishop Agbo contended that it was necessary to release Ka.nu to avoid further protests by the IP.OB members which usually end up in destruction of lives and properties and at the same time, created the opportunity for touts and other undesirable elements to infiltrate and take over such protests anytime it is staged.
