Most people in this forum and even Nigeria in general do not understand the real problem in Jos, many rely on the one sided reports they read in newspapers. Take Lagos for example, Its a yoruba town but there alot of Ibos,Hausas and ppl from several tribes that were born in Lagos, lived their whole life in Lagos and own very big businesses in Lagos, so do u think its fair for the yorubas to try to drive away the other tribes so as to take over their businesses, definitely NO. The battle in Jos is for the economic power, anybody that has been to Jos before knows of Jos north, that is the economic heart beat of the state, the metropolis, and unfortunately for the beroms the hausa/fulanis dominate the place, they own most of the buildings, filling stations, shops, houses, car dealers, and so many other things,so the beroms want to find a way to drive away the hausa/fulanis so they can take over all these thing, ask your self,is this fair. Many will ask,how did the Hausa/fulanis acquire this economic power, simple and clear to understand; Anybody that knows berom ppl will know that they are lazy and are drunks, while they were busy lazying about, drinking, gambling, fucking. . .etc, the Hausa/fulanis were laboring in the hot sun investing wisely, and the investments paid off. Thats why therez any crisis in Jos, the beroms have less to lose in terms of assets and properties, thats why they almost always start the crisis. The political power of Jos belongs to the beroms, and the hausa/fulanis have accepted that, they are not doing anything to change that but why is it that the beroms want to reap where they did not sow, this is the problem of Jos. Anybody that has been to or has stayed in just perfectly knows and understands what i'm talking about. |
Vote for GEJ and it will be business as usual

FG votes millions on generator sets Monday, 21 February 2011 05:00 Misbahu Bashir & Romoke W. Ahmad 12 Share Millions of naira have been budgeted by the Federal Government for the purchase and maintenance of standby electric generators in Nigeria’s embassies in countries that hardly ever experience power failure, including New York, USA; Paris, France and Beijing, China. A breakdown of the budgeted monies was contained in the 2011 Federal budget currently before the National Assembly for approval. A top Foreign Ministry official told Daily Trust last night that the money was provided for “eventualities” and “unforeseen circumstances.” Nigeria’s embassy in Beijing, China, is to get N7.7 million for general maintenance services, out of which N576,310 is allegedly earmarked to maintain its power generators. The Nigeria House in New York, which houses the Consulate-General, is to get N23.3 million was budgeted for general maintenance, of which N2.1 million is for the maintenance of electric generators, even though the last major power failure in the city was in 1977. Nigeria’s Permanent Mission in New York also got N1.2 million to maintain generators. The Foreign Ministry has similarly budgeted N2.1 million to service and maintain generators at the Nigerian Embassy in Paris, another N1-4 million for the same purpose in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and N2.5 million for the same purpose in New Delhi, India. The Nigerian Embassy in Ottawa, Canada got no money for generator servicing but will get N1.6 million for maintenance of office and Information Technology equipment. The embassy in Tehran, Iran is also to get N713,912 for office and IT equipment maintenance. Other countries where the FG allocated money in 2011 budget for the maintenance of electric generators even though power supply there is very stable include Jeddah, Saudi Arabia [N225,810]; Berlin, Germany [N3.7 million]; Pretoria, South Africa [N789, 861]; Brasilia, Brazil [N192, 466]; Madrid, Spain [N225, 000] and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia [N73,997]. Apparently anticipating power failure in the American capital, Washington, USA, the Nigerian Embassy there is to get N1.7 million for generator maintenance, while the Nigerian mission in Tokyo, Japan is to get N1.4 million for the same purpose. The Foreign Ministry did not however budget any money for generator maintenance in the Nigerian embassies in Moscow, Russia; Tel Aviv, Israel and Tehran, Iran. Responding to Daily Trust’s enquiries last night, Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Martin Uhomoibhi said the budget for power generators, fuel and maintenance in the embassies “is for unforeseen circumstances.” He said they budgeted for that in case of any eventuality, saying that they would not want to wait until there is a problem before making a provision. He said, “I don’t know the details of that but may be they have a template for all missions, because we have missions that may not have outages but missions don’t wait until they have outages in diplomatic service or wait before an event happens before budgeting for it. “We budget for such in advance and it is normally expected that if in the course of the year nothing happens it will either become a saving or be returned back to government revenue. if you are at home while those abroad keep it and use for other exigency that may arise but with appropriate approval.” Asked if any mission has returned such monies in the past, the permanent secretary said, “They don’t have to return to headquarters but only inform headquarters of what is not spent while headquarters in its wisdom will tell them to either keep it for exigency that may arise because emergencies do arise and so long as they dully seek approval from the headquarters, it is appropriate for them to disburse the money.” http://dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12495:fg-votes-millions-on-generator-sets&catid=1:news&Itemid=2 |

El-Rufai Teams Up With Buhari MONDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 2011 01:55 BAYO OLADEJI, ABUJA Former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir el-Rufai has surprisingly abandoned his close friend, Nuhu Ribadu in his presidential bid, and teamed up with the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), General Muhammadu Buhari. LEADERSHIP findings showed that when the race for the 2011 elections began last year, el-Rufai was said to have identified with former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida at the expense of the incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan who, “removed every obstacle planted on his way by the presidency of Umaru Yar’Adua.” He had joined the Pastor Tunde Bakare-led Save Nigeria Group which informed his teaming up with General Buhari. According to an associate of El-Rufai and Ribadu, who pleaded for anonymity, “Ribadu was expecting el-Rufai to be with him and to sell his candidacy in the North West where he hails from, but initially he was with General Babangida. When the Adamu Ciroma committee picked Atiku, he moved to the Tunde Bakare group and when that group joined General Buhari, he moved with them. This is the least expected of Nasir as we were together during the Obasanjo administration.” LEADERSHIP has it on good authority that the reason why the two parted ways had to do with the presidential aspiration of the former minister which he hopes to realise in 2015. The thinking is that by then General Buhari may have retired from active politics based on age. He would then take inherit his political structure. This is why he leads the technocrats in the CPC. Another factor was traced to the option after the failed third term project of the former President. One of the “Obasanjo boys”, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode disclosed that until Obasanjo imposed Yar’Adua on the party, “Nasir was the choice of all of us who were members of the economic team of President Obasanjo, including Nuhu Ribadu, Lawal Batagarawa, Uba Sani, Akin Osuntokun, Bayo Ojo, Ojo Maduekwe, Frank Nweke and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.” el-Rufai was said to be expecting Ribadu to support him to actualize his political dream but the tide changed when the latter was invited to join ACN by the former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, in far away Dubai late last year. This was said not to have gone down well with the former minister. Although Ribadu was planning to contest the presidency in 2015 his meeting with Tinubu changed that and he decided to seize the opportunity given to him. http://www.leadershipeditors.com/ns/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25683:el-rufai-teams-up-with-buhari&catid=51:cover-stories&Itemid=101 |
