Car Talk / Re: Between The 2008/09 Toyota Camry (muscle) And 2008/09 Honda Accord (evil Spirit) by Muza(m): 4:00pm On Sep 13, 2014
davo3286: I would go for V6 of the Accord. One interesting feature about it is that it can automatically shutdown 3cylinders when you are cruising or going downhill, i.e the computer system disables 3cylinders when you don't need too much power and enables all 6cylinders when you need more power. To explain further. When you're at say 120km/h and you want to maintain it you don't need all 6cylinders because the car had already gained momentum and all you need is a little power to maintain that momentum. So the ECM/PCM shuts down/disables 3cylinders leaving 3cylinders active at that moment. This saves you fuel and happens without you noticing it.

It doesn't shutdown all 3 cylinders all the time, it shuts 1, 2 and up to 3 cylinders depending on the power requirement. this makes the gas mileage of the V6 to be quite close to that of the 4 cylinder.

Car Talk / Re: Error Code: P0741 (corolla '07) by Muza(m): 10:25am On Dec 13, 2013
I also have this Code P0741 on my 2004 corolla which has a mileage of about 180k miles, been driving it like that for over a year with code, the car drives well and ok. I just recently noticed that my transmission fluid is dark colored and also smells burnt.

After doing some research online, I am considering draining the transmission fluid (not flush) and putting in new Toyota Type T-IV transmission fluid for now. Planning on changing the solenid when i come across very competent mechanic in Kaduna, I dont want just any body to touch my transmission.
Please what do you think?

1.I heard that flushing the transmission fluid on a high mileage car can damage the transmission fluid.
2.Also that you have to wait for the engine to be cool before changing cos that can also damage the transmission.
Please how true are these?

Car Talk / Re: What To Do When Your CEL (check Engine Light) Comes On And Stays On. by Muza(m): 9:51am On Jan 26, 2013

nagreenmotoring:

The OBD 11 scanner that is 20k to 25k can't do a comprehensive diagnose on any car and can't give you top three reported repairs for the code shown neither can it scan your transmission system which is (gear box) your ABS, Air bag and soon. Now the diagnostic tool that can do this and more cost about 800k to 1 million so if i give you a price of 10k to 15k i am still on the right track

Bros there are OBD 11 scanners that are even as low as N8,000 and can scan your car and bring up the codes, some of them interprete and some you just go online and lookup the codes to know whats wrong with you car before you even go to the workshop, most of them cant diagnose Airbag but for check engine light you are covered.
Its a rip-off for anyone to pay 10k to 15k just to scan a car. A small OBD scanner should be a must have for every car owner

Career / Re: Which Company Is Better, Nlng Or Total? by Muza(m): 10:02pm On Mar 10, 2012
tanimola22:

Working at what level? There are messengers, cleaners, sweepers, electricians, gate-men, accountants, engineers, lawyers, doctors, financial analysts, supply chain managers,---- ~≈∞ working for both companies. My uncle was even an electrician (a big man O) before his death two years ago.

You would therefore do well to specify the capacity or level.

May I congratulate you in advance, just in case you are one of the very exceptional exceptions that these oil companies run after. I mean, very many Nigerians would never refuse working for one of these coys you listed. Even some managers will be ready to let go their managerial roles to go take up entry level positions at Total grin. Getting offers from top oil companies like that is no joke, even if someone has a degree from Harvard or Yale (yes, quote me). Offers come by serious luck driven by the God factor.

Have you heard about the entry level 11milla/per annum matter? That is not funny, at all at all. At KPMG, for example, one would have to work for like 13-15 years before one even smells that salary level.

T22.

You uncle is a very big man, may his soul RIP.

There is no job better than a total job in this country, except to be a legislator, gov. . .etc

What will be the basis for such a high earning, especially considering the fact that there is no experience?

Like AJ said, just try to get employed by passing thru their rigorous tests and interviews, thats the only basis, not even a single day of experience needed.

Business / Re: Price Of Petrol In War-torn Libya Is N19.87 Per Litre by Muza(m): 9:58pm On Oct 11, 2011
edicolove:

Dont exhibit your ignorance. Prices don't go up in a deregulated market. They go down because of competition. The telecoms market is a good example. Deregulation produces competition which produces a price war and prices go down, not up. Fuel may never sell for more than N80 in a deregulated market. Maybe a little bit higher when it starts but it will then come down as investors build new refineries and the competition increases. There is nothing like cabal in a deregulated market. Why has the cabal not conspired to increase telecom prices if it is that simple?
U ar either a govt official or a member of the cabal, telecom is not fuel, they ar very different things, do u know PPPRA,the agency incharge of setting up d price template nd paying subsidy to marketers, obviously u dnt,u just read sm few news in d papers nd dat GEJ's post about steve jobs, then swallow nd digest evrythn d govt tells u.
Why can't d govt build refineries or compel marketers to build refineries before removing subsidy, why ar they putting the cart before d horse, why are they in so much hurry to 'free up money' while ignoring the impending consequences.
Think deep, dis things is more than it seems on d surface.

Career / Re: Nigeria Best Companies To Work For, 2011 by Muza(m): 9:37pm On Aug 19, 2011
AjanleKoko:

You probably would have to group in some cases.
Like for oil, I would say Shell, Mobil, Chevron, Total, all remain good solid places to work.
In Telecoms, MTN is probably employer of choice, but Glo pays more. Etisalat is okay, Airtel is fine for now.
In Banking, asides GT, Citibank, Stanbic IBTC, I'm not sure which banks are still in good shape.
Manufacturing would still be Guiness, Nigeria Brewries, Nestle, Friesland Foods. Those four remain solid.

of this 3,which is the best to work in?
interms of pay,job satisfaction and security,,etc
