In a massive bid to encourage indigenous technology in local content development in Nigeria, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) has entered into collaboration with no less than 10 Nigerian universities to carry out research work on modern technologies suitable for the oil and gas sector in the country.

The collaboration was aimed at promoting value addition in the Nigerian economy by deliberately utilising local human and material resources and services in the oil and gas activities.

Dr Ogbonnaya Onu

Flagging-off the 2017 Nigerian content activities, last Monday, in Port Harcourt, themed “Indigenous Technology and Eni/Universities Collaborative Research Forum and Exhibition”, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology, commended agencies under his ministry for advancing the level of technology advancement of the country positively. These correlates with the level of development and economic prosperity of our nation.

The minister who was represented by Mr Bitrus Josiah Habu, the Centre Director of Biodec Odi, says it is heart-warming to observe the synergy and collaborative output between the academia, government and industries in the support and furtherance of science and technology in Nigeria.

“For a country to effectively chart it’s course to economic affluence, it must first look inward to truly carve out its own science and technology niche and also play to its natural strengths in the development of its technical capacity,” Onu said.

He maintained that a lot of successes have been recorded by the ministry.” The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is not just innovating and standardising new technologies but also reversing engineering technologies to suite peculiar needs”.

The Minister recalled that the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) is strengthening the roll-out of it national biotechnology programmes through its bioresources development centres across the country citing the recently commissioned Ultra-Modern Advanced Bioresources Laboratory and Livestock Feed Milling Complex at their Odi centre Bayelsa State equipped with cutting edge instruments in exploratory analytics, Forensic and Genomic research and development aimed at redefining how research is done in Nigeria as some of the strides the ministry is making in establishing platform capable of facilitating and sustaining the drive for innovation across the country.

According to the Minister all these is geared at making Nigeria a great nation and also provide hands-on skill acquisition, capacity building, infrastructure as well as technology transfer for economic empowerment for the betterment of every Nigerian.

He challenged Nigerians to ensure that this collaborative forum for indigenous technology development is whole and encompassing in tackling the challenges that affects us as a nation in order to redefine our industrialisation process and make sure that sustainable means of processing, exploring and harvesting our raw materials are also catered for as the necessary fuel to sustaining the indigenous technologies we develop.

In his comments, the Vice Chairman/Managing Director, NAOC, NAE, and AENR, Massimo Insulla said that the event was designed to showcase the major breakthroughs in the universities in the areas of research and development, grant opportunities for indigenous contractors, especially members of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) to make presentations and exhibition in the areas of success.

He also said that it will provide opportunity for academic and scholarly research as well as NNPC Renewable Energy (RE) team to engage their visiting Eni Renewable Energy colleagues from Milan Headquarters in a dedicated break-out session in areas of mutual collaboration.

Insulla said in the last six years, Eni had domiciled over $5.4billion in the country to create jobs and boost the economy while implementing a num

Business / Re: FG Takes Ownership Of Funds In Bank Accounts Not Linked To BVNs by muzari: 9:07am On Oct 22, 2017
DO NOT BE MISINFORMED:

1. There is nothing like permanent forfeiture of depositors funds.
Did you hear about 25m illegal withdrawn by a banker in Kano of late Ado Bayero? Family got to know after sending court order to all the bank when about to share his wealth because it was a polygamy home.
Imagine a monogamy home who centered their requests to the banks they felt the late person uses without reckon to other banks.

2. The funds shall be reclaimed from CBN after due diligence from the depositor/beneficiary.
So, welcome this development and make sure you grab the dailies when the names are out to check for the name of your late Father, Mother, Uncle and so on no matter the year of death. You could be lucky to become the next million/billionaire.

3. Report has it that Union and Firstbank only warehouse over 200billions monies of deceased customers unclaimed. Are you aware of this?

4. Recall also that this case was not initiated by FG, it was group of financial analysts that sue FG to take the action.

5. Do not panic if your BVN is not linked yet, you can link it anytime you are around and reclaim your fund no matter the time without going to court. Only the family of deceased person will go to court to get letter of administration to claim monies belonging to the dead relatives or those with mismatch names which is what is even obtainable now.

THIS IS WIN WIN SITUATION FOR THE MASES AND HARVEST PERIOD FOR LAWYER BECAUSE MUST FAMILY WILL BECOME MILLIONAIRE OVERNIGHT

TRUST THAT WITH THE CLARIFICATION, SOME ADAMANT IGNORANTS WILL STILL SAY "NO BE SO"

Agriculture / BIODEC: A Hidden Research Treasure by muzari: 1:30pm On Oct 19, 2017
The number of people that come for training in Bioresources Centre in Odi Bayelsa State, compare to the technological and human resource capacity available in the centre has define our mindset about Agriculture, We are not ready yet despite enormous resources at hand.
Recently Minister of Science and Technology visited the centre, hear him:

Says only Science and Technology can rescue Nigeria

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has commissioned the Advanced Laboratory and Livestock Feed Milling Complex at Biodec Odi, Bayelsa State.

The laboratory and Livestock Feed Milling Complex which the Minister described as world class has the capacity to do Gen-map on all indigenous plants and animals with the view of preserving the nation’s rich bio-diversity resources.

According to the Minister, no nation has ever become great without Science and Technology. The research is 90% Science and Technology-driven making it easier and healthier for human consumption so farmers can come take samples from Biodec Odi and grow in their individual farms.

Dr Onu emphasised that the days when research findings are only documented in books are over, he encouraged scholars and researchers from the Universities and Polytechnics to visit Biodec Odi and utilise the facilities on ground.

“There is need to build capacity and create jobs for our youths so as to tackle the increasing issues of poverty and unrest in our country.” He stressed that researchers should henceforth look inwards to develop local solutions to the country’s peculiar challenges.

The Director-General Biotechnology Development Agency, Prof. Lucy Jumeyi Ogbadu, in her speech was all praises for the centre’s director Mr Josiah Bitty Habu whom she described as a workaholic, dedicated, result oriented and a transformation agent in our time and his team for putting up a world class research facilities such as these in a country like ours that has all it takes to bring massive changed yet has little to show for it.

Meanwhile the centre’s director, Mr Josiah Habu, said his motivation for the research is the fact that the facility will be an advantage to researchers and will go a long way in enhancing our effectiveness in research, fields trials and promotion of bio-technology if properly utilised

Science/Technology / Bio-resources Centre Develops Technology To Trace Stolen Fund/Crude by muzari: 5:39pm On Sep 23, 2017
The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonaya Onu, on Friday said the Bio-resources Development Centre at Odi in Bayelsa State has developed indigenous technology for chemical “fingerprinting of crude oil”.
The minister said at the inauguration of the Advanced Bio-resources Laboratory and Livestock Feed Mill that the technology would assist in tracing stolen crude.
According to Onu, the laboratory will also conduct genetic profile of indigenous plants and animal resources with a view to preserving the nation’s rich bio-diversity resources.
He charged researchers in the country to focus more on market driven research and development to further close the gap between research institutes and the society.
He said: “The Federal Government has seen the disconnect between researchers and the society and indeed industry and we have resolved to change the narratives and the results are already with us.
“Earlier this week, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three companies to commercialise indigenous research findings.
“And I have directed the research fellows here to focus on research themes relevant to the society.
“We have for so long been dependent on foreign concerns for technology and it has not been to our economic advantage.”
Onu stressed that researchers should begin to look inwards and develop local solutions to the country’s peculiar challenges, adding that the ministry was deploying technology as a tool for economic development and job creation.
Earlier, Josiah Habu, the Director of the bio-resources centre, noted that the laboratory would boost research efforts in the country and assist the centre in meeting its mandate.
Habu said: “The inauguration of this facility is a plus for researchers and it will go a long way in enhancing our effectiveness in research, field trials and promotion of biotechnology processes.”
The director explained that the bio-resources centre was established in 2003 to extend research into untapped bio-resources in rural areas.

I was called this morning to the scene of robbery at Dimrose road in Biogbolo area of Yenagoa where a lady was robbed of her plasma TV, phones and jewelries.

We left the scene for Opolo by Osogbo, Ilorin Motor park opposite Golden Gate Hotels in the same Yenagoa, as we're seated discussing, we saw a guy who dropped from a car from the opposite and crossover to the park as if he was coming to make inquiry. The next thing we heard was a sound, he broke the front door glass and quickly made away with a bag containing #450k as later confirmed by the owner who claimed to just have left bank for the park.

The robber ran to the front of the Hotel where their car was parked and zoom off. I began to owner what Bayelsa is turning to, robbery in day light.

Agriculture / What Federal Government Is Not Telling Us About BIODEC by muzari: 11:33am On Jul 23, 2017
BACKGROUND:
Bioresouces Development Centre (BIODEC) was established by the National Biotechnology Development Agency, Nigeria to fast-track the promotion of biotechnology activities towards attaining sustainable exploitation through indigenous bio-prospecting of the nation's huge bioresources endowment.

Before you read further, this topic is for those who have interest in Agriculture. It will be wise for you to use 50% of your budget to acquire sound knowledge no matter the distance than investing 100% of it.

I took an excursion to Odi centre of BIODEC previous week to learn more on modern ways of Agricultural practice, trip that worth it. I got to understand the reason countries like Malaysia and Indonesia had left us behind in Agriculture despite learning from us. It’s non other than research and technology, government do not invest in research, we only enjoy copying forgetting that those countries will only release their research materials years after discovery. Few years ago it was an imagination to think that two fishes can produce millions of their selves, thanks to research work which made it possible.

HOW MANY OF US KNOW THAT WE CAN MULTIPLY OUR PLANTS LIKE THE FISH
Through a single plant of plantain you can produce million, the same applies to your Maize/Corn and so on, this is what research as help us achieved. The difference between plant propagation you know and that of the BIODEC is the advanced technology involved to determine the plant adaptability internalized in the plant behavior and make it impossible for the plant to change behavior even in a strange land.

DO YOU ALSO KNOW THAT YOU CAN GROW YOUR MAIZE/CORN TO HARVEST IN 45 DAYS?
Yes you can. We generally believe that Maize should take about 4 months to grow, but with the advanced technology in BIODEC, you can harvest your Maize in 45 days. The positive implication of this, is that a Maize farmer who enjoy three (3) seasons of irrigational Maize farming can now make eight (cool harvest in a year. What more do we need?

Follow me as I show you sample of what you can farm and enjoy maximize profit in your farm, these are what University of Agriculture will not teach you.
