Promhize: Cool down, I wonder what ribery even did that was so special, even the likes of Ibramovich and Pirlo have done far more than that. Tell me what is special about ribery, what does ribery have over ronaldo?

We will see who wins in January.
......if cr7 adds humility he might just win it..but he wont, very proud footballer abd mind u is not who u think but who they vote for.
Culture › Re: Nigeria's Disappearing Languages by mvem(m): 3:23pm On Nov 14, 2013
NaijaNaWaa: I don't envy them that much. Majority of them are hardly literate, anyway. It's only in the North that young people living in the cities don't speak nor understand English or any other language outside Hausa. While it is good for their culture, it has diminished their relevance in modern society and partly responsible for their backwardness.

I am an advocate of the sustenance of our indigenous languages but I also know that English Language is the global language. No country or culture can ignore the English language; that's why most youths from non English speaking countries of the world learn and speak English these days.

They don't write computer programs in Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa.
....so we should let our culture, history, heritage to die off and help support another man culture.....why do we take our self as inferior....do the germans, russians and japanese speak english but they still programme and do technological wonders...even the french see it as an offence to speak english to them....Inferiority complex dey worry u.

Sincere 9gerian: Dont you get it? ASUU uses strike to blackmail and pressure govt into signing ridiculous and un-implementable agreements. Yar Adua signed that agreement in 2009 just to get ASUU off his back, even if momentarily. The same thing is happening again. After 4 months strike, govt has been forced to make new concessions, even if just to make the ASUU call off the strike momentarily. Its been like that since the late 70s. So the cycle of madness continues.

Meanwhile, are you insinuating that because govt is irresponsible, ASUU should also act irresponsibly? So if people from ASUU find themselves in govt tomorrow, they'll continue with the irresponsibility? So the cycle of irresponsibility continues? Yet, mischief makers like you claim you want a better Nigeria? What happens to copying best practices and being the change you want to see?
.....nobody signed any agreement un duress ......the government havent fully committed in education.....it will still be you that we complain of the decay in education in nigeria, then lets sacrifice and help the system, u will still shout that strike is not solution....then what.....dont u know that dis government dont underatand negotiation, na only strike they understand...do u think ASUU just like striking..strike is the last resolute or option when others fail....the government is very insensitive, is only when u strike they take u seriously.

Education › Re: UNIJOS, 5 other Universities Voted For Continuation Of Strike by mvem(m): 1:39pm On Nov 12, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The problem with some Nigerians is their selective approach to issues. We all read the report about the UK lecturers going on strike. How many days did the strike last? Just one day. Was the demands of the lecturers met while the strike lasted? Are the UK lecturers not aware that they can also go on indefinite strike the Nigerian way? So why didnt they use that approach?

Since you and I criticise out political leaders for not copying the RIGHT things from the western world, why not our lazy lecturers? Why is what is good for the goose not also good for the gander? Where else in the world would labour leaders shut the door of the universities for months, claiming to be fighting for improved quality of higher education? You killed education for months in the name of fighting for better education? How does that add up?

More over, ASUU has been embarking on strike since the late 70s, but decades after we'r still on the same issue. So what has changed? Motion without movement.

I dont believe in half-measures. If we want to solve the problems in our universities, we have to do it whollistically. ASUU is not part of that whollistic solution because they'r part of the problem. I will not support ASUU because the so called 2009 does not address the problems in our universities. We need to tell our selves the truth and do the RIGHT thing, which is complete autonomy of the universities (not the type ASUU is asking for). Govt should establish students loans or whatever to help those who cannot meet up with the increment of schools that will follow real autonomy. The FG govt universities will still get grants but these grants will be fixed by the NASS and will not be subject to labour dispute. ASUU should be proscribed. All labour disputes should be handled locally.

As long as we dont do the right thing, we will soon be back to square one- another strike
.....uk has given there lecteures the enabling enviroment and has also put money into education so while will the lecteures strike like those of nigeria....do u know y ASUU kept on striking since in the 70s...we all know the military killed tertiary eduction in nigeria(not there fault how many went to the university or even school)....so what re u saying....if there hadnt been strike only God knows what the educational system in nigeria will be.

'Only 1 Nigerian out of 52
arrested last month had
passport'
Press Trust of India | 09-Nov-2013
21:19 PM
Panaji: Goa police said that of the 52
Nigerians who were arrested for
staging a violent protest on the
national highway in the state in
October, only one could produce a
valid passport.
As many as 38 had no passports at
all. Of the rest, some did not have
original passports but produced
photocopies, police said.
One of them had a "permit" to stay in
India (but no passport).
All of them were arrested on
September 31 after they staged a
blockade on the highway to protest
murder of a fellow Nigerian. The
arrests sparked off a diplomatic row
between and India and Nigeria.
In the aftermath, Goa government
formed a special cell to crack down
on the foreigners living illegally in the
state.
