vaxx:the best i can do i just look at the data and admire, nothing more. But your right, different countries take different measures based on how they see their countries. All i hope is that this thing be done before the number reach the thousands. |

tylann:The problem between Tanzania and Kenya is not just that we are two different countries that happen to be neighbors but also that we are different on almost every way possible, our culture, education, government etc. Kenyas because of their GDP like to think that they're better than Tanzania so with every chance possible Tanzanians like to show Kenyans that they are not worth the internet bundle they are surfing with. But when we need help they are there for us just as when they need help Tanzanians are there for Kenyans. 1 Like |

TayserMahri:Please all the cases are announced, plus, the president was giving out a message of hope and he happened to be inside a church. And for the situation in Tanzania, we the people know our situation. Tanzania is centered around Dar es salaam, putting Dar es salaam on lock down is literally freezing the whole nation, meaning no medicine, no oil, no equipment, that is something that we can not take. That is why we know how serious the virus is and we chose to take the other unpopular route, fine people will die but at the end but last time i checked people in Tanzania still die from Malaria, TB, Aids and so more. |

vaxx:You do know that Tanzania has twice the population of Ghana, what might work for them doesn't necessary mean that it will work for Tanzania. Plus Ghana already has more victims more than Tanzania and their number just like us is still rising, so their lock down was not that successful. |

tylann:I don't know about other people mocking but the words of one idiot aren't the stand of the whole nation. The world could have prevented the spread of the virus when it was first detected in Wuhan, then there were few cases and it was easy to isolate them until it settled down. But since that did not happen it will be difficult to contain it since the incubation period differs from person to person, maybe put 2 month total lockdown will only show who where the infected and with the lack of cure, 7% of them will perish. If it was easy to stop the virus some states in the world have both the means and the will to do so but they have failed so it easier said than done. P.S. If the president had mocked you i would have apologized on behalf of the nation but since it was just an idiot well them on behalf of Tanzania, he/she can go to hell. 1 Like |

Austine1212:Tanzania has not surpassed Kenya in number of victims, they have 303 and Tanzania 284. And churches have set up measures to avoid over crowding when people are in prayers by also increasing the number of services. And there are no restrictions nor lock down in Tanzania because of the economic condition of most Tanzanians. Putting them on lock down will only result to violence and civil unrest. That is why Tanzanian knowing the effects of the virus are not complaning to the government about more restrictions. Kenya who are proud of their measures and constantly telling us we are wrong 54 of them escaped quarantine to go home. |

Austine1212:Closing the river will be very impractical. What can be done is set up international guidelines restricting the use of the Nile river. Restrictions where made by the Victoria lake countries when over fishing was rampant and the lake's water level was dwindling, that helped save the lake, likewise can be made to the Nile. And as an add on, the probability that any form of military confrontation to occur because of the Nile is small, unless some one decides to close it then Egypt will be in no doubt force to fight. |

rvp20182:That was a chronological description on how Swahili came to be. And it wasn't like when the Arabs came and on the spot Swahili was birthed. A lot of factors happened before Swahili became the Swahili we know and i listed the important ones. And the Arabs before the 1000s, where more concentrated in Mogadishu than down South. The establishment of the city of Kilwa played a bigger part when it came to Swahili. Love it or hate it, Kilwa was the birthplace of modern day Swahili. 1 Like |

mtisTheQubit:You Swahili is easier because most Kenyans can only speak Swahili at an A1 and A2 European language framework level. Listening to you speaking Swahili is like listening to a toddler. You don't understand our Swahili cause Swahili is foreign to you. Every basic Swahili is still difficult for Kenyans to understand. I was amazed by how even your leaders failed to understand common Swahili terms. This was proof when our minister of Foreign affairs gave a speech at the BBI event. You were amazed when you heard simple Swahili phases, even the comment section was filled with Kenyans who had nothing but amazement. Kenyans have always taken Swahili as a language of the lesser man that is way you prefer to speak English as a sign of intelligence and being of the upper class than the other person. Swahili came to a push later on in the 1990s when the government established the Swahili council of Kenya and started teaching it in schools, before that Swahili was mostly spoken at the coast. That is why to this day before any word is approved to be added in the Swahili dictionary, BAKITA (National Swahili council of Tanzania) has to authorize and it is the only Swahili language governing body in the world. 1 Like |

mtisTheQubit:My research is impeccable. I know the history of Swahili language, and the historical events that led it to be the language we know it today. The interaction Kilwa sultanate with the coast of Tanganyika led to the spread of Swahili along the coast. Since Kilwa dealt with the mainland Swahili started spreading in wards. After the Kilwa sultanate (which was of Persian descent) took over the Swahili coast that spanned as far as Mogadishu, they used Swahili to administer especially due to the fact that Swahili was a Bantu language by origin, it was every similar to the native languages spoken in the coast. When the Germans took over Tanganyika, they made Swahili the official language for schools and courts under the German rule so was the first time that Swahili was formalised on an European language framework. After WWI, the British took over the whole East Africa, seeing that Swahili was already heavily rooted in Tanganyika and the coast of Kenya, they had a conference to which they decided how Swahili would be across EA to which the Zanzibar dialect was chosen as the official dialect of Swahili. To this day, a foreigner learning Swahili will find it easy to speak with a Tanzanian than a Kenyan due to the way the language is spoken, same way most people will find it easy to speak with a Londoner than a Scot. 2 Likes 1 Share |

mtisTheQubit:Nope! go read the history of the Swahili language. Just because Kenyan coast was part of the Swahili coast under the rule of the Kilwa sultanate (Kilwa is an island South East of Tanzania). In the 1100s, Kilwa aqcuired Sofara enabling it to acquire enough wealth and power to expand up North as far as Mogadishu. Swahili was spoken in Kilwa and spread further because of the Kilwa sultanate, so no, Kiswahili did not originate from Kenya. 2 Likes |
