NairobiWalker:Read the full article. He said that so as the money that would have been used to service the debts by the respective African countries be used to fight the pandemic in those nations. Tanzania doesn't have any problems paying her debts. |

rvp2018:You asked about why Tanzania isn't ratifying i gave you the answer. If we were not in the position to benefit in the previous agreements why rush to new ones without planning it ahead? And don't look at the agreement on only monetary means, there is also a free movement of people in that agreement too, if you won't prepare your people to compete in terms of skill, they will always be on the loosing side. Tanzania wants to be able to full compete first before coming on board, that's all. |

gallivant:I will tell you why. Since Magufuli came to power Tanzania has been taking a more cautious approach when it comes to trade agreements with other nations since most nations will push for a deal with out fully out weighing the effects of the deal just for the sake of it. In 2016 (correct me if I'm wrong) the EU wanted to push a deal between EAC and EU for the free movement of goods but when you look at it the only nation in EA that would have benefited from the deal would be Kenya since where market is all full of European goods while at the same time the transport horticulture products to EU. Kenya had 1 or 2 sectors that could benefit but a lot more would suffer to to importation of better brand and quality name products as well as better trained experts killing all small industries in not only Kenya but also EA while also making it hard for locals to get jobs. When Tanzania said that we had to first build an environment that when we sign the deal we can also be competitive she was seen as a witch and they even started like casting her aside. The same thing is with the AFTA, most countries lack the environment to be competitive in the trade zone, while with the case of Tanzania is that the government wants to build a manufacturing economy that when we sign the agreement we can actually be a competitor in the market not only importer of goods and labor. We are all for intergration thats why we agreed to a joint EA stock exchange, but before we go all in on the agreement, we want to make sure that we can benefit from it. |

rvp2018:the unpaved part in Tanzania is now paved. Plus, we could electrify the meter gauge rail from SA to Tz or upgrade it instead of building a new one. With the electric train travelling at 80kph it would ease transportation of goods and people. |

tylann:Tanzania is exporting the gas to sell to Kenya. LNG is cheaper compared to LPG and 40% of the total LPG imported through Tanzania is sold to Kenya building a pipeline will reduce the cost of cooking gas in Kenya since cheaper LNG will be processed in Mombasa. Plus, the Block two project in Lindi for LNG will include a shipping dock for exporting via ships so tell me wise guy, why the F$ck would we spend $1B to build a pipeline to export to Mombasa while the processing plant will also include a shipping dock? reference: https://www.tralac.org/news/article/11918-tanzania-exporters-protest-kenya-s-gas-ban.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K81H73ggbFk |

tylann:Actual, Tanzania will be selling natural gas to Kenya. The government is expanding the port of Mtwara which will be the main LNG exporting hub for the country. The gas pipeline is just like that with Uganda to transport LNG to customers nothing more. |

mtisTheQubit:The reason why Tanzania is feeling skeptic with Kenya is because Kenya wants to push her agenda under the umbrella of the EAC. For some things there is no need to do so but instead of looking at a way the block could benefit, they resort to tactics such as isolating, us we saw this with the coalition of the willing. Have you ever wondered why we always have problems with you among all our neighbors its always Kenya? |

rvp2018:Everyone in Tanzania where they accept it or not know that the shooting of Tundu Lissu was a CHADEMA inside job, just like they tried to kill Zitto Kambwe back then after he became bigger than the party. If the government wanted Lissu dead he would be and no one would think to point at the government. You might start saying why would Chadema do that, if they weren't responsible why are they hiding the key witness to the shooting?? It was an inside job gone bad |

gallivant:Even if God came an said Tanzania and Kenya are my chosen ones we will argue on who was chosen first, its who we are, and what we will always be. But what we don't like is when people are just lazy in bashing us, they don't do research. If you told us that Uswazi areas in Dar are terrible, although i won't like it its the truth and i will show to the fact that Kibera is worse. But all this will be factual. But to say we are cooking figures while the same private institutes that are being said are failing are reporting profit and marginal increases in just lazy. Let keep dissing each other, but with facts not rumors from people who clearly don't know what they are writting. 2 Likes |
