It is among the poorest Lower Middle-Income countries you idiot. Tanzania is not a Lower middle income country yet. Join the league before you start talking about it. You're still an LDC - Least Developed Country. Maajabu ya nyani kucheka kundu la tumbili.

No, you were an LDC - and were entitled a lot of 'privilege's' that poor countries are - including favorable trade agreement, favourable lending terms, debt forgiveness and of course donations/grants.

Now that you're out of LDC - prepare to behave like Lower Middle Income Country - because you'll now be treated differently.

Yes I understand the need for a country to protect infant industries - but it cannot be blanket blocking of trade. You can say in this sector - say kenya has issues in Sugar - you get exemptions to protect infant industries - but not live stone-age and protect your little economy.

Also even if you have the best trade deals - if you're lazy - it useless. Without kenya buying your agricultural input - you'd probably be stuck with them.

Under AGOA - US allows Africa duty free entry of nearly 2,000 types of items - Tanzania has exported almost zero.

Kenya is leading - if you remove Oil that Nigeria/Angola export under AGOA.

The same with EAC. Kenya is also 3rd in COMEA after South Africa and Egypt.

And I expect definitely Kenya to be 3rd in AFCFA - after again South Africa and Egypt.

You asked about why Tanzania isn't ratifying i gave you the answer. If we were not in the position to benefit in the previous agreements why rush to new ones without planning it ahead? And don't look at the agreement on only monetary means, there is also a free movement of people in that agreement too, if you won't prepare your people to compete in terms of skill, they will always be on the loosing side.
Tanzania wants to be able to full compete first before coming on board, that's all.

Why has Tanzania not ratified the free trade agreement? I told you we dont want lip service. undecided
I will tell you why.
Since Magufuli came to power Tanzania has been taking a more cautious approach when it comes to trade agreements with other nations since most nations will push for a deal with out fully out weighing the effects of the deal just for the sake of it.
In 2016 (correct me if I'm wrong) the EU wanted to push a deal between EAC and EU for the free movement of goods but when you look at it the only nation in EA that would have benefited from the deal would be Kenya since where market is all full of European goods while at the same time the transport horticulture products to EU. Kenya had 1 or 2 sectors that could benefit but a lot more would suffer to to importation of better brand and quality name products as well as better trained experts killing all small industries in not only Kenya but also EA while also making it hard for locals to get jobs.
When Tanzania said that we had to first build an environment that when we sign the deal we can also be competitive she was seen as a witch and they even started like casting her aside.
The same thing is with the AFTA, most countries lack the environment to be competitive in the trade zone, while with the case of Tanzania is that the government wants to build a manufacturing economy that when we sign the agreement we can actually be a competitor in the market not only importer of goods and labor.
We are all for intergration thats why we agreed to a joint EA stock exchange, but before we go all in on the agreement, we want to make sure that we can benefit from it.

Very good. I see Kenya, Egypt and South Africa as the key beneficiaries of this; the rest of Africa countries need to build internal capacity. Nigeria is hobbled except Dangote will continue to underperform.

But first we need to complete the road infrastructure.

the unpaved part in Tanzania is now paved. Plus, we could electrify the meter gauge rail from SA to Tz or upgrade it instead of building a new one. With the electric train travelling at 80kph it would ease transportation of goods and people.

Bruh are you being serious right now? you really don't remember anything you learned in chemistry.

Meniscus curves on liquids occur (pic1) & they are caused by action of either adhesion or cohesion depending on the situation & the properties of said liquid (pic2) adhesion would normally lead to a concave meniscus (A) while cohesion leads to a convex meniscus (B)

The water in your glass will curve not by action of cohesion so don't expect it to curve downwards but by adhesion hence the meniscus curve won't be convex but concave (pic 3) so you might miss it if you're not keen enough or in a vantage position, either side.

This property also applies to larger liquid bodies like oceans, lakes... though the curve does change to a convex meniscus due to action of gravity & surface tension leading to these large water bodies curving downwards even after curving up, notice the tidal waves or even the shapes of the currents & also as it's seen from a vantage point, above (pic4)
A good break from my country is better than your country.

Extremely few industries use lng in kenya
You will be using mombasa port to export lng I don't why you guys don't understand that
Tanzania is exporting the gas to sell to Kenya. LNG is cheaper compared to LPG and 40% of the total LPG imported through Tanzania is sold to Kenya building a pipeline will reduce the cost of cooking gas in Kenya since cheaper LNG will be processed in Mombasa. Plus, the Block two project in Lindi for LNG will include a shipping dock for exporting via ships so tell me wise guy, why the F$ck would we spend $1B to build a pipeline to export to Mombasa while the processing plant will also include a shipping dock?

There is no engineering Here only logic and common sense
Tanzania will use Mombasa port to export its lng and you will pay for it
Actual, Tanzania will be selling natural gas to Kenya. The government is expanding the port of Mtwara which will be the main LNG exporting hub for the country. The gas pipeline is just like that with Uganda to transport LNG to customers nothing more.

the issue i got with Tz is the negative vibe they got towards us...i dont get it...we share alot with them..if only they supported the east african thing fully we could even share same currency...but i do understand them a bit ..you Kenyans can be arrogant sometimes grin
The reason why Tanzania is feeling skeptic with Kenya is because Kenya wants to push her agenda under the umbrella of the EAC. For some things there is no need to do so but instead of looking at a way the block could benefit, they resort to tactics such as isolating, us we saw this with the coalition of the willing. Have you ever wondered why we always have problems with you among all our neighbors its always Kenya?

Everyone in Tanzania where they accept it or not know that the shooting of Tundu Lissu was a CHADEMA inside job, just like they tried to kill Zitto Kambwe back then after he became bigger than the party. If the government wanted Lissu dead he would be and no one would think to point at the government. You might start saying why would Chadema do that, if they weren't responsible why are they hiding the key witness to the shooting?? It was an inside job gone bad

Lets just agree to disagree there is global conspiracy against Tanzania led by Kenyans after all that's what they teach Tanzanians in school.
Even if God came an said Tanzania and Kenya are my chosen ones we will argue on who was chosen first, its who we are, and what we will always be. But what we don't like is when people are just lazy in bashing us, they don't do research. If you told us that Uswazi areas in Dar are terrible, although i won't like it its the truth and i will show to the fact that Kibera is worse. But all this will be factual. But to say we are cooking figures while the same private institutes that are being said are failing are reporting profit and marginal increases in just lazy. Let keep dissing each other, but with facts not rumors from people who clearly don't know what they are writting.
