Just listening to Labaran Maku on BBC radio. The man has denied being a student in 1988. Claims that the reports to the effect that he was a student leader who led anti-SAP riots in 1988 are false! |
I am on the website now and the TV live feed is off, could you please share the link, in case i missed something? Thanks |
queensmith:@ queensmith: pls check out this link, the budget is broken down by item. http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/2012_budget_proposal.html Cheers! |
maclatunji:I am sure it is not Sanusi's job to call this fellow to order. If he is indeed in your LG, why not raise the necessary awareness in your community to call him to order? If correction must start, let it start from the grassroots! We are castigating the federal government yet we let the local officials get away with murder!!!! |
M16 Re: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala And Sanusi On AIT Matters Arising « #155 on: Yesterday at 02:13:25 PM » Never knew Wale Tinubu, the highest subsidy benefactor was also a PDP financier Huh-jmaine Well if you don't know ask. who is the chairman of Oando. General Magoro(former member of board of trustee and fomer gubernatorial candidate PDP Kebbi state) and currently PDP Senator from Kebbi state Please be careful about raising unfounded stories. Magoro WAS the chairman of Oando, yes. But he resigned in July 2011. http://www.oandoplc.com/wp-content/uploads/Announcement-for-Resignation-of-Chairman-and-Company-Secretary.pdf That he could have interests in said company is not in doubt. But he is NOT the current head of the board. Please avoid spreading falsehood! |
Weren't they supposed to address security issues in their "emergency" session? If you ask me, they were playing out a well-rehearsed script! To claim that the president had travelled in two airplanes (I am still looking for proof, preferably pictorial - that SA newspaper article just does not do it for me!). Those who had different opinions were shouted down, proposal to prosecute corrupt subsidy beneficiaries unadopted, It was an unimpressive showing in all! |
Beaf:right on point!!! They are seeking cheap popularity while their own status quo remains and their lifestyles are sustained! As far as I am concerned, they did not do anything significant! They only rallied round to save their own skins. I pity the few men of integrity that remain amongst them!! |
They refused to back a proposal to prosecute those who have abused previous subsidy allocations?? WOw! And you tell me they have our best interest at heart? Wow!!! |
Omo_Tier1:Not a voice vote, please. Too much evil is hidden in these voice votes! |
When are they going to address security issues? Still no word on their emoluments, though it is possible they have had to subsidise the return trips of some of their constituencies from the Christmas holidays, |
It is a pity that this is degenerating into a regional tussle on NL. The ND that is being touted as champion; no be their elected members, with all the largesse of extra resources from natural resources, no be dem dey share de money? They have been receiving massive allocations from the centre for years. What have they got to show for it? Bayelsa state, what do you have to show for the large amount of allocation based on the natural resources derived from your land Sam goes for the rest of the oil-producing states!!! |
rhymz:He veered off and they knew what was coming and booed him off!!! |
Elumelu seems to be speaking sense. But is it true that he has a bad history? Any proof of this? |
To his credit, he is giving them lessons in ECO 101!!! |
Mr PhD economics is speaking grammar!!!! |
SERIAKE speaks sense: even with the subsidy in place, there are parts of the country that have been paying more than 4 times the official rate. He has been diplomatic enough not to point out the fact that his region provides the petroleum and yet has never benefitted in any way!!! |
nadkaf:I thought he would have gone a bit further and pinched them a bit!!! Concerning the subsidy issue, if you're interested, this link might make some interesting reading: http://www.punchng.com/politics/the-many-intrigues-of-fuel-price-protests/ Our representatives are just playing to the gallery!!! Subsidy for them is sustainable so long as their salaries are ensured! |
otokx:She is not confused. The timing for this removal was all wrong!!! Barde is on point: talking about corruption! |
Is this how our National Assembly runs? No room is given for opposing views? Must we all think alike? The partisanship is so blatant it is nauseating!!! |
Note how they are very vociferous against "suspension" because that will save them addressing their fat salaries!!!! |
But they should let the Bayelsa man speak: he has a RIGHT to be heard, too!! |
That Akoko-Edo man is speaking sense!!!! |
coded guy:They are behaving even worse than a class of ill-behaved university students!!! They are making so much noise!!!! |
rabzy01:TRUE TALK!!!! |
These guys are just playing to the gallery! Why are they not talking of fighting corruption, cutting down their salaries, or addressing the compounded security mess the country is in!!! There is little intellectual depth to these debates! |
@ poster!!!! This is really such a senseless post! What did the Yoruba invent? Agbada, Babban riga, boubou ? Same thing, differnet languages!! You're touting "we this, we that", do you know the history of the famous "buba" of Yoruba women? Not as old as you think! Invention of the twentieth century, to hide their unclothedness, Now if you were to talk of the aso-oke, éhen! then we can talk. That is Yoruba. We are alike yet so different. Why not celebrate US rather than try to flaunt the assumed "lordship" of one over the other! And if you must, please dust up your history books a bit and stop thinking that history begins and ends with the number of years you have lived, which gives a very narrow vision, I am afraid!!!! |
Do the PhD, work as a consultant alongside, especially on projects that can eventually feed into your PhD research. Get it over and done with. Thing is once you have your degree in what seems to be a lucrative field, you can comfortably negotiate for whatever positions you are offered. Use the opportunity that you have now. One step at a time and the sky is your limit!!! |
dis boy don craze finish!!! abi him just dey pretend? |
@ pappy2000 The truth is that everyone that has contributed to this discussion is speaking from their own point of view. The truth is that the root cause of late marriage in men and women is the economy of this country. The truth is that let me use myself as an example, I am in my 31 and working as a teacher in a God-forsaken school and earning 15k,how do u think i should get marry with that peanut.I had to leave the place last month to do other things.I intend to start driving a cab soonest, and all my friends are asking me when am I get married when that is the least of my problem,so u can see what I mean.I ami have still look for financial break through in life.and the irony of this is that I have many of my colleagues who is working and earning as little as that and they have wives and children, but i have vowed that I will not live the kind of lives those people are living. In fact, they are not living, they are merely existing. Sorry to digress slightly from the main topic but this comment caught my eyes. Pappy2000, I must say I am impressed at what you have said cos it shows courage and determination. May I encourage you that whatever you decide to do, be the best you can be at it. When you start driving the cab, please remember to advertise it here so that, who knows, some of us might avail ourselves of your services. I am sure you will offer excellent services. Go, my brother and may the Lord bless the way that you take. |
@ CyberG Abeg help me ask o! If everyone in these countries did what we do to ours, wld there be a place to run to ![]() |
Offline Offline Re: Denied Employment At Unaab Because Of Federal Quota System « #11 on: Today at 01:19:19 PM » Quote from: Duke007 on Yesterday at 08:58:31 PM Recently,l was invited for an interview at uni of agriculture,Abeokuta,l did very wel at the interview(scored 56/60) but was denied a placement because Federal character commission says that my state quota has been filled. My question:Should academic position in university b based on merit or quota system? It should be based on MERIT that way the University students will be taught by the BEST academics available. A Quota system in the context of education is discriminatory, encourages mediocracy and ultimately leads to a fall in standards. i think it's mediocrity, |
