At the POE I was told to submit The US Customs and Border Protection Form (that asks you what is in your possession like vegetables,Fruits etc cant remember) which was given to me on the plane then He asked "Been to the US Before ? First Time ?" Then he directed me to where I will be searched I picked up my bags and went there.

The maximum duration of US visa validity a Nigerian citizen can get is two years whether it is for a bachelors degree, masters, PhD, visitation etc. However you can stay in the US even after your visa expires as long as you are in status (your SEVIS record is intact and you have not violated the visa) but you must renew it if you come to Nigeria when the visa is not valid. I hope I have answered your question. Have you collected your passport?

Your statement of account must be at least 6 months old. I think you are good to go. Just be confident and express yourself well.

The bold was not a very great answer. You picked the school because of its affordability and not its quality, at least you should have presented a strong argument and then chip in the affordability talk. Find a way to relate your course with the school, how will the school help you grow in that specific course? Is there a specific professor who caught your attention and is doing really well in your area of interest? Did the school give you funding? How can their program help you achieve your goals? You have to personalize your answers, these VOs hear the same crap every single day and they might deny you for responding the same way 1million people have responded in the past without having a personal story that relates to you alone.

We don't deal with fraud here. Take a fake bank statement to the embassy and receive a 10 year ban, you might even get arrested in most cases. If you don't have a sponsor, stay in Nigeria. Why go to America when you don't have someone to sponsor your education? It means you have a very bad intention of traveling in the first place. You have to know that VOs constantly monitor this thread and questions like this make the whole thing extra tight. Don't destroy your chances of ever going to America, it's not worth it. Beg your uncles and aunts for their bank statement.

They will put you on AP, Call your bank to confirm your statement and ban you for a very long time. Don't make the mistake others have made here that ended up in regrets.

My status changed this afternoon. You can wait till tomorrow and see. I hope you are checking your status from the tracking website?

It is possible that it would be ready for pickup today, since the embassy and the collection Centre are in the same state. I got my visa less than 24hrs after it was issued. It took that long because it was issued in Abuja and collected in Lagos since the password will have to be sent to Lagos. Like I said, it is possible you will receive a pickup email today but the latest time will be tomorrow. Remember to keep tracking your passport. Congratulations on your approval!
