It is really rather annoying when we bring ethno-religious sentiments into virtually all issues. I am not a fan of GEJ but whether GEJ should resign or not is his own decision to make. Howbeit controversial, he won an election! Nontheless, he sincerely needs to be president enough! Though the truth is that the intensity of the violence and wanton destruction of lives and properties is highest in the North. This does not mean that other regions do not have their own share of the misfortune in another guise (armed robbery, kidnapping, intra-tribal conflicts, etc). Scores of those who might have voted for him died in various attacks especially at the place of worship or just being unfortunate to be on duty during some of these nefarious attacks. Leaving the region may not be the solution. The students, academics, bankers, or businesses whether government, corporate or private do not have ready made alternatives even if they relocate to the south. And come to think about it, minus boko haram, the south is not that different as stated earlier. GEJ should please at least for once actively preside over this country. His passive style seems not working for now, if at all it will. I fear that like wildfire, you only know when it beggins, the speed with which it spreads is astonishing. God forbids, this violence may get to the South if not curtailed. My condolence to those who lost relatives and properties in this recent and the previous violent acts

Everybody's experience would definitely be different. Just try to identify which is your 'heaven' and which is your 'hell' between Naija and wherever you reside. It will always be better to serve in heaven than to reign in hell. Wherever you find yourself, just be good and remember all you need are RICE and 7ps.
RICE - Resources,Ideas, Contact, Expertise.
7Ps- Proper Planning Plus Prayer Prevent Poor Performance.

Politics / Re: Friday Should Replace Saturday As Work Free Day To Ensure Religious Balance by naijaforlife: 10:36am On Apr 14, 2012
Thanks for all your comments. The intent of the post is just to gauge our religious tolerance and highlight the fact that until we play down on religious sentiments and make attempt to promote equity, excellence, and fairness regardless ethno-religious considerations; Nigeria's problems would persist. Good deeds and evil deeds have no gender, race, religion, or region. I remain naija for life. Proudly Nigerian

But then since saturday work free is not based on either christianity Islamic worship day, can't Nigeria at least for once have our benchmark for the way we do our things in the context of local realities. When you benchmark against some other person's standard the best you can be is a second to the best. The tendency to link western ideas as if it is rooted in christianity at times makes me wonder.

Politics / Friday Should Replace Saturday As Work Free Day To Ensure Religious Balance by naijaforlife: 5:32pm On Apr 13, 2012
May I humbly know the opinion of Nairalanders on my thoughts about changing Nigeria's weekend to Friday and Sunday in order to ensure religious balance. It would appear that we have achieved similar balances on some other issues with Muslims copying the christians or vice versa. Examples are issues bothering on pilgrimage to holy lands, religious organizations like the red cross and red crescent, public holidays, national religious centres, appointment of co-secretaries at the last national confab, armed force remembance day, etc. Just curious to know your views. No abuses please!

While I do not subscribe to religious sentiments, the timing of some decisions by our government officials often expose their weaknesses.

The more reason we should view the security problem in Nigeria as transcending ethno-religious colouration with which we have labelled it. May God almighty guide our leaders right and help the youths with the truth to know in love and honesty...... Una know the remaining part of the national anthem. I rest my case.
Politics / Re: Separation Of Church And State: Do You Support It? by naijaforlife: 11:53am On Mar 29, 2012
No qualms as long as the two divides know their limitations and complement each other. The state takes care of the 'mechanics' and the church/mosque takes care of the 'spirit'.
