Thank God for the survivors especially Dora Omoruyi's life. Dear sisters kindly come back and retrace your steps towards making a better life in Nigeria especially if you do not have any educational or professional qualifications than with the intent of engaging in prostitution. If you are not employable or trainable in Nigeria life may even be harder in Europe or anywhere abroad.

@drizzymadbet
If you do not mind, kindly explain the implication of your hypothesis linking the use of hijab to illiteracy in the context of Aishah Yesufu that was praised on this forum a couple of days ago for her advice to PMB?

Furthermore, you have compared some rich Muslim countries to some poor ones. In fact, you compared northern Nigeria to Bahrain. While you are liable to your opinion, just wondering what countries you would like to compare southern Nigeria to, or perhaps justify how some Christian majority countries in Africa or elsewhere compare to some developed Muslim minority countries in the world? Thanks.

drizzymadbet:
Poverty and illiteracy is the bane of poor Muslims.

Compare Qatar to Pakistan

Compare UAE to Afghanistan

Compare Oman to Syria

Compare Bahrain to Northern Nigeria

Poverty and illiteracy is a problem, Oshoola Assisat is a Muslim, but how many times have you see her on Hijab even on social events, not even a head covering.

Sometime ago, Sanusi's wife graced on homepage, but she was wearing just a head covering, the wife of a revered emir in the north.

Let northerners keep allowing themselves to be decieved by their elites, they keep pumping you guys with Islamic teachings while they send their wards to study abroad, they keep funding Quranic recitations while their children keep attending conferences in their career niche, after studying Islamic studies, what career in the society would you work? When you don't see jobs and see that you are useless to the society, the same elites channel your anger that it is the infidels on the other side are the reason for your poverty and the killing spree starts and continues.. ..

Great news no doubt in this recession. At least an attempt is made to pay some of the outstanding arrears. The question to ask is if he is paying from Ekiti state's IGR or from refund by the same FG some people are castigating. God bless PAF, God bless PMB, God bless FRN.

@Freeborn76 although the year is about five weeks to go, i gladly recommend your post for the award of 'the post of the year'. Kindly permit me to repeat it again below.

She attended a Polytechnic, yet she worked with British Telecom, Goodman Jones, London Undeground Limited, London and Prism Consulting, Pricewater House Coopers and Chapel Hill Denham. Reno studied at Harvard, Stanford and Yale, yet he ended up as a spin-doctor for a barefaced thief who supervised the pilfering of our commonwealth. It is not by power, nor is it by might, it is of God who shows mercy...Reno, I expected you to know that, sebi dem say you be pastor?

Politics / Re: Mike Ozekhome Lawyer Says DSS Will Clampdown On Media Next by naijaforlife: 5:23pm On Oct 09, 2016
Listening to the so called SAN-Ozekhome on Channels TV Sunday morning programme some few months ago made him lost my respect. His failed and lame attempt to defend the senate forgery allegation against another lawyer - one Mr. Ogunye or something makes me think the so called SAN title is a hype because he was floored flat. His recent support for unpopular and tainted cases like those involving Fayose makes me feel he is not only partisan but may know something about this current issue as mentioned by one of the earlier comments. If the report in this post is true, imagine the SAN mentioning that most of those judges arrested are southerners tells a lot about him.

I do not know his present club but remember watching him play for a Malaysian top football club last year in the Asian Cup. Not minding the league he plays in he is nonetheless a very good striker.

I guess there must have been a time when you were conceived, delivered, and grew up to a stage in life when you can comment on nairaland. All these stages I'm sure was over a period of years. It would have been very silly to expect you to achieve whatever you have today in the year of your conception or delivery.

Just wondering though that the woman in question is not getting same attention as per the other guy relating how unlawful her being declared wanted is. Perhaps her dressing erodes the pity or traction she gets vis-a-vis her human rights. And also wondering why PMB is not getting acclaims for such declaration of his perceived ethno-religious fans as wanted.
Politics / Re: Ahmed Umar Bolori: "Army Didn't Inform Me Before Declaring Me Wanted" by naijaforlife: 9:08am On Aug 15, 2016
While the process leading to his being declared wanted may seem flawed, that he has a case to answer should not be overlooked. At least making himself available is commendable and the response he got indicate that he is allowed to report by himself. We should also give the benefit of hindsight to the military. If anything bad happens, it is we Nigerians that will still blame the military for not being proactive. We at times in our usually sincere or insincere emotion-laden comments act to know all. Lest, I forget, the persons declared are also Notherners and most likely, Muslims. Some people coming to their defense would have said some other things if they belong to some other ethnic or religious affiliations.

@Revolt. You have posted one of the best comments yet on Nairaland only to taint it with an unnecessary and irrelevant political comment that is perhaps borne out of dislike for PMB. For your information, PMB's past and present indicate he stands for something rather than fall for everything like your apparently preferred candidate who lost in the last general election. Whatever that something is, PMB's genuine supporters (not pretenders on nairaland) appreciates it and would vote for him over and over again. That kid we are all proud of did not start learning maths in one year to be a national champion. She must have obtained the supports of her teachers, parents, other family and friends to perfect her skills. Perhaps she may not even win similar competition in other subjects because her strength is in the numerical subjects. Some other students may excel in arts. We all have our areas of strength and weaknesses. Your constructive criticism and proffered solution is what this nation requires. THINK POSITIVE, ACT POSITIVE, ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY. WE SHALL GET THERE.
Politics / Re: Fashola Interviewed On BBC Hardtalk (Video) by naijaforlife: 1:36am On Aug 13, 2016
The hatred that some Nigerians have for this administration and anybody linked to it is just amazing. In my opinion, BRF was astounding, confident, consistent and calm in the interview. Stephen Sakar or whatever his name is likes to force his interviewee to accepting his criticism. I just watched his interview with Okupe again as someone alluded to and realised that BRF's was far better. While Okupe was either not answering the questions or answering with another question most of the time, he also became agitated. Osita Chidoka was interviewed by a lady (she was good but not confrontational like Stephen) and I did not see any extra or outstanding responses to questions raised. Osita did well nonetheless. Interestingly, NOI's interview with Christianne Amanpour and the infamous GEJ's interview with Issa Sesay tell how daunting such interview sessions can be. IMO, given the circumstances the interviews were held, they all did well.

Hunger and economic backwardness are the consequences of some action or inaction of the past, mainly corruption. It (corruption) needs to be eradicated as much as possible from our system. Hopefully, the system can work as it should regardless of who is at the helms of affairs.

No matter what and how untenable certain person's remarks may be from our own view, let us try as much as possible to exercise decorum. Abusing anyone more so, an elderly person or a clergy regardless of the religious leaning or status is neither the best nor African.

Read my post again and follow the logic. I did not say Jesus is a fiction of any one's imagination. I said that no one knows what he looks like and if you don't know what he looks like, how do you know he has a beard? The postulation of what he looks like is fiction.

What proof have you that Jesus did not have or grow beards? It is most likely he did given the fact that he was a jew and from the middle east where that is their cultural identity for men.

bonechamberlain:
Nepotism the worst form of corruption, once you are a northerner you can occupy any position in this country whether qualified or not, look at the MD of NPA for example, she has no business there, in the next few years Nigeria might be taken back by 20 years because buhari has chosen to appoint mostly people who succeed through quota system and who can't compete with intelligent humans in any civilized setting. the extremist ruler would destroy this country. angry

In my opinion, it may amount to overstretching empiricism to assume that where you hail from determines your intellectual and physical capabilities to accomplish tasks. When a man is appointed you shout female marginalization, when a female is appointed you shout regional marginalisation, when a southerner is appointed, you shout religious marginalisation, when a christian is appointed you shout political marginalisation. I have a feeling that with your penchant for viewing apointments with your marginalization lens, you may inadvertently end up marginalizing yourself.

Congrats! Wishing the staff being sent forth the very best in his future endeavours.
Hope UBA does something about how their staff steal people's money deposited in the bank through various fraudulent means. I know of someone who just got ripped off about 12k on an interbank transfer into her account. She had previously received an alert the previous day of the full amount she was expecting only to receive another alert the following day that about 12k had been withdrawn. The lame excuse given is that it is deducted online and there is nothing they can do. They even tried to put the blame on her that she must have disclosed her pin number to someone. She queried how a deduction can be made on her account without authorisation from UBA after receiving alert for the full amount she was expecting. Although she does not even use online transactions, she knows that an sms confirming a transaction would be sent together with a TAC. No tangible excuse was provided and no effort to help retrieve the money. Though the amount is small the case is being pursued with a lawyer and indirectly through the NDIC just to serve as a deterrent.

Are all the 150 on board Nigerians? Could it not have been the kids losing their lives and not the parents? Could it not have been all of them. What and who gave them the guarantee that Europe is better? Haven't we been seeing how bad their own economy is especially the PIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Greece and Spain), Is Italy itself not overhyped in terms of economic prospect? Perhaps, Nigeria has the highest number of prostitutes there and when you watch documentaries of what they go through you had ask why they do not stay back in Nigeria. Times may be tough, but I think greed and feel-good information based on premeditated stories and pictures lure people to take such risk. too bad!
Politics / Re: Militants And Military Clash In Arepo And Ibafo by naijaforlife: 4:04pm On Jul 30, 2016
whichever way, there would be collateral damages. If the criminals are not weakened and dealt with squarely, they will continue to infringe on people's right and impede peaceful coexistence in the coastal areas. If the militants or criminals as mentioned by the Ijaw Youth Council want peace, they should come out clean. Even if Nigeria will break, it should not be by force.

As a former President and national leader of PDP he should have been the person to bring harmony to the PDP. I thought they were all working for him to win the last general election.
