Which collective funds? Is this one mad? SeeWahala: Lagos (where you and your other 'O' state people rush to was developed with the collective resources of the entire Nigeria especially the old eastern region and Nigeria Delta because it was a former capital territory.
How can you boast of developing Lagos when even after the capital was moved it was the same Nigerians who dwelt there that deemed it fit to sink in their collective funds into that land to further develop it? |
Politics › Re: There Are More Igbos Than Other Tribes In Lagos, That's Why Obi Won - Ali Modu by naijalander: 8:07am On Jul 29, 2025 |
I'm going to summarize this whole thread as due to Sherrif’s terrible English. Anybody who thinks there are more ethnic Igbos in Lagos than Yorubas is not a logical person that anybody should debate with. Sheriff probably meant to say that more Igbos in Lagos voted for Obi than any other group (the Yoruba majority included) in Lagos. See the confidence with which the person below is saying complete rubbish 👇🏿 kettykin: Definitely the number of igbos is more than any other group but this again is not a good thing.
The smartest igbos who are neither in the classroom of universities or overseas are likely in the corporate and business rooms of Lagos and Abuja. This is the real brain drain. We need to reverse it |

“Fantastic burst of energy” that has never been proven. SOSinNigeria: Yorubas are too slow and dull in accepting positive changes. Imagine a local government that is only few kilometers from Lagos being so backward. Some places in SW appear even more remote and underdeveloped than places in NE.
Missionaries came to their place before other parts of Nigeria. Awolowo also gave them free education yet Igbos overtook them in one fantastic burst of energy!
If Lagos was close to Igboland the way it is close to Yorubaland, I bet you, no ethnicity in Africa would have come close. |

Loove the new expressway btw. I noticed it is not yet in use. A Bolt driver I asked about it recently mentioned that he isn't enthusiatic about using it, another person said it's because of the expected toll to be paid for using it. Kikuyu1, what do you guys think? |

If it's for a bank transaction, it's better to have a personal token device. Apply for one at your bank, won't cost you more than N2000 to get it. Instead of using OTP sms, you will generate the token on your device. FRUTVEGS: well i thought it is a problem from my bank sha. wow.. so what can we do now |

I'm a 31-year-old single Nigerian male. I'm hoping to get insight into how marriage as an institution has changed so much in Nigeria.
First of all, the average marriage age (age at which most people, male or female, get married) has probably shifted upwards of 25 for female and 27 for male. It's probably more like 36 for male, 32 for females now.
What are the reasons? Gender roles have become fluid. |

Culture › Re: Freeborn And Slave In Yoruba Language by naijalander: 6:08am On Aug 29, 2019 |
The Olopa he's talking about is not police, check the ami ohun. baby124: Olopa for police is, one who holds the batton. This is because the first police men in Nigeria only carried Batons. Olopa does not mean priests in this context.
. Olode is hunters who doubled as security and they carried guns. If the first police carried guns or weapons they may have been known as Olode today. Eso is also security that carries a weapon.
Slave is Eru and freeborn is Omo. That is why Yoruba say bi a se bi Eru la fi bi Omo. Showing the liberal nature of Yoruba society towards slaves. The proverb says a freeborn and slave are born the same and came to the world the same. So, they are equal and slaves should not be treated too harshly. |
