Culture / Re: Village In America Where The Yoruba Culture Is Being Practiced (Photos) by naijawarrior(m): 5:59pm On Sep 11, 2015
This is a big lie and a fallacy if I ever saw one. The truth about the Yoruba, something your forefathers will never admit to you, neither something you'll ever admit to yourselves, but which clearly history can never be disputed because facts are facts and are impervious to propaganda, no matter how elaborate it is - there was never a tribe more willing to serve and be subjugated by the white man than the Yoruba. This is a simple fact and is not even open for debate. Read your history. Do your research. Off all the tribes and ethnic groups in Africa invaded by the white, none were more willing to abandon their home land to serve in utter subservience to the white man, than the Yoruba.
Study your slave philosophy, in the age of slavery there was always the two classifications for slaves. 'The House Ni.gger' and 'The Field Ni.gger' The house ni.gger is the least stubborn slave. The one most subservient to his Master. His master allows him to enjoy the benefits of His house - good food, education, clothes and even an occasional hot bath. The house ni.gger serves his master most willingly and thinks other slaves fools for not bowing down to the Master. The house ni.gger was always his master's delight. The field ni.gger on the other hand, is the one most unwilling to serve the master. He is rebellious and though unwillingly plucked away from his native land he still has pride in himself and in his inbred values as a man. The master in desperate attempts to subjugate the field ni.gger will flog him countless times, and force him to work in the fields for hours unending, under the scorching heat of the sun, with little water or food. He will show the house ni.gger the disadvantages of being rebellious and proud. And will use the house ni.gger as an example to him to show what many contrasts there lies between the house ni.gger and the field ni.gger.
I'm sure many of you can already deduce where I'm going with this. The real honest truth is that most of the Igbo slaves by the simple virtue of their upbringing are a very proud people. It is a nature imbibed in the very unbringing of an average Igbo and it has been so for countless millennia. What other tribes call "chest beating" is simply an age long philosophy and culture passed from one Igbo to his offspring from generation to generation - pride in one's self, fear of no man, and belief in what's ability, irrespective of where one finds himself or herself. Go and read up on the Igbo Landing. 70+ Igbo slaves who jumped into the sea in protest against slavery. These people would rather die than be slaves. That is the core nature of the Igbo man, and trust me what you call Igbo pride, has even reduced compared to what it was in the slave era. Imagine then what it was way before then, when they ruled their own kingdoms and conducted their own enterprise. You need to learn your history first before you open your mouth to voice whatever comes out of it. This same Igbo pride is the reason why the Igbo were treated as second class slaves. And while the Yoruba were enjoying the fruits of servitude - namely freedom to practice their beliefs and heritage etc even while in the Master's house. The Igbo were not afforded such benefits.
So go ahead and hate on the Igbo. Its no trouble. But ask yourself this - at what price? And second, why do I really hate this people so darn much? Why really?

Selah.

vicadex07:

But they are kings and Queens ruling over a Kingdom of their own in the white mans land, something that your tribe will never be able to achieve in a thousand years to come

In the heirachy of Slaves the Yoruba presided over the others because of their high level of intelligence and sophistication and that is why their Language and cultures survived in those colonial countries up till date.

Igbo slaves however were third class slaves. They were used for the most demeaning and dehumanizing tasks because they were very good at manual labour that requires no intelligence just like we have in present day Nigeria, hence they had no opinion and their culture and sense of identity was completely balkanized.

Have you heard of the term, "Persecution Complex"?

Yes, I have. One crazy thing about "Persecution Complex" though. Its kind of like a made-up word the 'Persecutors' use to describe the attitude of the persecuted.

HATE

ASK YOUR IGBO RELATIVES ABOUT HATE NNANA grin grin

I would be proud to call any Igbo, a relative. No tribe in this country has suffered, yes still suffer, has been persecuted, still persecuted, has sacrificed, still sacrificing as much as the Igbos. All for National integration. Hate? You mean the millions of Igbos killed during the Civil War. Or the countless more being killed in the North for no reason at all. The thing about hate is that, its such a powerful force. And most of the time, the people who harbour hate in their hates do not even know why they bear such strong emotions against their fellow man. Take the KKK for instance. Why do they hate every race, other than the white race. They can't really give a good reason. Same with the Germans against the Jews. They just hate them. Its the same thing in Nigeria. No tribe is hated as much as the Igbos. Why are they hated? No good reason. They just hate them. It's history repeating itself, and it never ever ends well. People who are smart actually choose to steer clear of the path of destruction, by doing things differently and not repeating history. But ah well.

WHAT WERE U EXPECTING?? undecided undecided

HOW ARE OTHER NIGERIANS TREATED IN YOUR ENCLAVE??

I've always known Igbos to be hated and persecuted by all tribes. I'm not Igbo by the way. Its only common fact, which no man can deny. However, one would expect a little bit of logical or at least educated reasoning amongst nairalanders. But alas, what I see...If this is how Yorubas feel about Igbos, then what hope lieth there for national integration? A lost cause indeed. Smh.
