Before this match, nobody gave Nigeria a chance. We were down 1-3. Then Ikepa scored with a powerful right foot to make it 2-3. Kanu then equalized and it was 3-3.

Then in the first extra time, Kanu scored with a powerful left foot and the stadium went agog, even those who supported Brazil had to shift their attention to Nigeria because of beautiful football we played. It was so classy.

As a kid, I was cheering the team on TV and refused to talk to anyone, not even my dad because they all lost hope while my uncle particularly, never believed we will come back in that match talkless of winning it.

Somalia received the dubious honor of most corrupt country in the world for the 10th straight year in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2016 released on Wednesday.

The index, which is published by Berlin-based Transparency International, aims to rank nations “based on how corrupt a country’s public sector is perceived to be.” The index ranked 176 countries on a scale of 0 (perceived to be highly corrupt) to 100 (perceived to be very clean).

The group estimates that “corruption, bribery, theft and tax evasion, cost developing countries US $1.26 trillion per year.” According to José Ugaz, the chair of Transparency International, in the most corrupt countries “we often see democracies in decline and a disturbing pattern of attempts to crack down on civil society, limit press freedom, and weaken the independence of the judiciary.”

In total 122 of the 176 countries ranked finished with a score below 50, which Transparency International identifies as having a “serious corruption problem.”

Presiding over that ceremony was Don Franco Barbero, an excommunicated priest, who has “blessed” many same-sex couples and who was defrocked by Pope John Paul II in 2003, largely because of his support for such unions.

Isabel and Federica are ” two lovely people, of intense faith and with serious studies behind them,” Barbero said. “They prayed a lot about this and … in the end, they took their decision knowing that not many would approve.”

The nuns weren’t the first to leave the church to be together. Last year, Vatican official Krzysztof Charamsa was defrocked after he left the church, declaring he was gay and wanted to be with the man he loved.
