Efforts of voters have gone to waste in Isolo as some ballot boxes at Polling Unit 18 located at junction of Ohafia/Ago Palace Way, Okota in Oshodi/Isolo LGA of Lagos State have been set on fire.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who witnessed the incident reports that Polling Unit 23 located on Baba-Ewe Street/Ago Place Way was also affected by the fire.

NairaFame reports that no one has been named responsible for the act but the voters have lamented crying ou ‘They burnt our votes”
A witness at the incidence said that the presence of security agenciewereas not felt as voters and INEC officials were virtually left on their own.

Today, 23 February 2019 Nigerians would vote in the sixth presidential and national assembly elections since the country’s return to democracy in 1999.

Nigerians are expected to choose from 72 Presidential candidates and 6584 National Assembly candidates.
91 political parties are participating in the 2019 general elections, however, some would not be fielding candidate for the position of the president.

According to the figures recently released by INEC, there are currently 84,004,084 registered voters compared to 67,422,005 in the 2015 elections.

In the build-up to the elections, Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party have popped up clearly as top contenders for the office of the president.

Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East has warned politicians against shedding blood of Nigerians.

Bruce on Tuesday urged the military and other security agencies to protect Nigerians and prosecute offenders rather than shed blood.

The Bayelsa lawmaker, on his Twitter page, said this in reference to statement by President Muhammadu Buhari ordering the military to ‘kill’ any ballot box snatcher.

According to him, the Armed forces must realize that “they are protectors of Nigerians.”

Ngozi Akakem, the lady who recently attacked her friend for allegedly sleeping with her husband, has been remanded in prison after being arraigned in a court in Owerri, Imo state.

In a video that went viral, last month, Ngozi physically assaulted Nkiru. The victim was also stripped naked and filmed.

According to reports, Ngozi went to Nkiru's house with thugs and humiliated her at gunpoint. She was also said to have tried to blackmail her to pay to prevent the video from being released.

Ngozi was arraigned on a 10 count charge, yesterday, but she pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate granted her bail to the tune of N1 million and the matter was adjourned to 28th of March, 2019. She was remanded in prison till she will perfect her bail conditions.
