Gunmen have killed the District Head of Bajida, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Bahago, under Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Speaking with journalists, Umar Muhammad, the late district head’s elder brother, said the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 6:00pm.

Abubakar said the late Bahago was returning to his village from Zuru when the gunmen ambushed him.

He said his late brother died at the age of 56 and left four wives and many children behind.

The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, confirmed the incident.

He said the late Bahago was hacked to death on his way back to his domain in Bajida from Zuru.

According to the police, the deceased was driving himself in his car when he was blocked and his killers inflicted several machete cuts on him, which led to his death.

“He was brought down from his vehicle and killed, we are making efforts to arrest the perpetrators of this act,” the police spokesperson said.

A woman and her son have been arrested after the son raped his two young cousins living with them, leading to the death of one of the girls.

5-year-old Kadijah M. Saccoh and her sister were living with their aunt and her son in her home in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Kadijah's parents were living apart. The father, Congolese Saccoh, is living in the U.S. and had been trying to take Kadijah, a U.S. citizen, with him to the U.S. but couldn't because a Judge prevented him from doing so as the mother was not in support.

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has stopped the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, from participating in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary election slated for Thursday.

According to the ruling seen by SaharaReporters, the court on Monday granted an order restraining the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, Emmanuel Ogidi and four others from allowing Obaseki or any member of the party that have purchased forms and were not screened within the time stipulated in the timetable to contest the PDP’s primary.

The case, which was filed by Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, an aspirant and lawmaker representing Oredo Federal Constituency, was adjourned for motion on hearing to 24th June.

The PDP had, last week granted a waiver to Obaseki and Philip Shaibu, his deputy, to contest on its platform.

The opposition party also postponed its governorship primary earlier scheduled for Tuesday, June 23 to Thursday, June 25.

He alleged that the pictures sent on the social media by his wife were old pictures when he beat her up for allegedly stealing his money without owning up to the crime.

Bebu Abiodun, a local fisherman, accused of beating his pregnant wife at Ode-Irele in Ondo State has denied the allegation, saying it was a frame-up.

Mr Abiodun, who spoke to SaharaReporters on Monday, said he only had "some little misunderstanding" with his wife but that she blew it out of proportion to arouse sympathy.

He alleged that the pictures sent on the social media by his wife were old pictures when he beat her up for allegedly stealing his money without owning up to the crime.

Abiodun, who accused his wife of being a "serial thief" disclosed that she once stole his N400, 000 which he left in their bedroom that was meant for his business.

He said, "We only had some little misunderstanding and her mother came to my house and packed out her daughter's belongings without my knowledge.

"So, I did not even touch her but since her mother took her properties away, I just made up my mind that I am no longer interested in the relationship again. I know the truth will soon prevail.

"I feel she just wants to frame me up and for the past two days now, I don't even have the appetite to eat because people keep calling me anytime they see her pictures.”

Aderonke had repeatedly accused her husband of being a "wife-beater". She also denied the allegations of stealing her husband's money.

She said, "He has been beating me since he married me as his wife. And this is the same man I had a child for before this new pregnancy.

"You can imagine how he uses women's pictures as his display picture on social media. Is that a threat or what and now he wants me to abort the pregnancy. But now, I think it's over between us."

The Police have arrested 24 suspects fora alleged cybercrime and other related offence.

They were nabbed for alleged involvement in online dating scams, generating and deployment of fake bank alerts, hacking and fraudulent wire transfers, cyber stalking and impersonation of high-profile personalities.

Among them was Henry Ushie, first arrested in 2017 by the IRT for impersonating the ACP Abba Kyari, the Commander IRT, on Facebook
He had got bail from the court but went back to same crime.

On Monday, a Police statement on Twitter, said operatives again arrested Henry, 30, a graduate of Statistics from Anambra State University.

Also arrested were his brothers Emmanuel Ushie, 23; and Matthew Ushie, 28, an OND graduate from Federal Polytechnic Oko.

The gang ran “a fake Frank Mba Foundation bank account with FCMB”.

They allegedly used “a fake Facebook account and defrauded Nigerians under the pretext that the foundation is raising money to help vulnerable Nigerians during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Police said Henry, identified as the leader, was arrested last Thursday at a hideout in Ihiala, Anambra State.

His siblings were apprehended afterwards.
The statement added all the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

The British Superbike community is mourning the loss of Ben Godfrey who died in a tragic crash at Donington Park while competing at the No Limits Track Days event.

The 25-year-old died of injuries sustained in a collision with another rider at the Leicestershire circuit on Sunday evening.

A statement from No Limits Trackdays issued via Instagram read: "During the second advanced group session of our No Limits Trackday today at Donington Park, Ben Godfrey collided with another bike on the approach to Redgate and fell from his machine.

"Tragically he suffered serious injuries and despite immediate medical assistance trackside, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after."

"Ben really was a fantastic young man and friends with so many people in the paddock, he was always smiling and had time for everyone.

"He was very excited for the start of the season and had taken part in many trackdays in the last month.

"Our thoughts are with his family, his partner Jordan and his team-mates and friends."

Fellow British Superbike rider Glenn Irwin also paid tribute to Godfrey, writing on Twitter: 'Rest in peace Ben Godfrey. King of the Dutch Superbike race at Assen.'

The Anambra state police command has arrested a 40-year-old man identified as Hillary Apeh for reportedly abusing his niece at his residence in Maryland Estates, 3-3 Onitsha.

The little girl whose name was given as Chioma Ogbu had wounds and scars all over her body, reportedly inflicted by the suspect.

Anambra state police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect confessed to inflicting injuries on his 9 year old niece over repeated delay when sent on an errand. The victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Haruna said;
“On the 14/6/2020 at about 10:am, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station Onitsha arrested one Hillary Apeh ‘m’ aged 40 years of Maryland Estates 3-3 Onitsha.

“Suspect brutally assaulted his niece one Chioma Ogbu ‘f’ aged 9 years of same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body.

“Victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while investigation is ongoing after which suspect would be brought to book.”

The suspect will be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.
