2017 - Kenya budget is 26B USD - with about 15B usd collected from taxes and more from appropriation in aid(AID).
2017 - Nigeria budget is 24B USD.
2017 - South Africa budget around 90B USD

Based on Nigeria cooked GDP - it's budget should be around 120-150B - mostly collected from the economy.

How Nigeria pay teachers, doctors, civil servants,roads, all the gov services and still get some steal is one of world wonders.

What is 24BUSD for a country of nearly 200M peeps?

Naija need to wake up - next year if this slumber continues their federal budget will be 20B - while Kenya definitely will be 30BUSD.

You cannot eat cooked GDP figures. It cannot fill country vaults. It cannot help your treasury. Our informal sector is also way too large to be compared with that of Kenya. Our GDP has been reinstated again and again by the lMF and the bodies that matter, and of course it would be foolish to compare even the economy of Lagos with all its activities to Kenya, let alone Nigeria. Common, that's an insult, it's the reason many Nigerians are ashamed of this arguement.

Talk is cheap. "our informal sector is too large", have you visited other African countries and ascertained that their informal sector is not equally large if not larger per capita? Stop living in ignorance.

As for Lagos, I've said it here over and over Lagos has a GDP of 90B with a disputed population of between 14M - 21M (everything in Nigeria is somehow disputed, I wonder why). Meanwhile Nairobi Metro with a population of 6 million has a GDP of $39B. See? with over 3 times Nairobi's population Lagos has just over twice it's GDP. Who's fooling who now? Do your math.

Maybe during the recession from early 2015, but it's not surprising if the tax to GDP is the lowest in Africa. There's no way the statistics can be cooked to fool everyone, it only stems from your own delusional comparison of Kenya to Nigeria.
Kenya is way too small, and even from a long time ago in the nineties, Nigeria was already way above 150 Billion dollars, and of course you would expect this for a population her size, and of course with the large informal sector, some posit the nominal GDP is even much higher than 500Billion dollars.
Note that our GDP is no longer 594 Billion dollars but now around 405 Billion dollars.

Even at 405 B it makes no sense. 20B is a mere 5% of 405. No way a country with 405B GDP can fail to finance a 20B budget.
