nigeria is invoveld in building a railway into niger and other things....nigeria is more pan african than you kenyans.... gambia had troubles and we sendt troops....we are selfless black people.... \ A country that calls itself the giant of Africa is waiting for its immediate neighbor to ask for help before they offer any yet bashing a much smaller country for not forcing itself into a bigger country thousands of km away to offer unsolicited help? Why are you so stupid? FYI, Kenya has hosted the governments of both Somalia and SS. |

look excuse....
you rather kiss foreighner butts than help your next neighbor....
pathetic.... Kenya doesn't share a border with DRC, stupid. A Nigerian has no authority to lecture Kenyans on being a neighbors keeper when all your neighbors are either extremely poor or always in political turmoil - what have you down about them? Benin, Niger, Chad, Cameroon - which of those countries is both stable and economically flourishing? |

Too ridiculous" how about you form a chart that shows Manipulated Nigerian GDP, coz most of them reside in kibera and don't have access to internet, they are totally going to be fooled by that. Perfect absolutely perfect" and voila here is the manipulated Nigerian GDP.

vaxx: These country are mono focus economy apart from south africa and partially Botswana. A single mono focus nation still have a lot to do. But they are doing extremely well and are stable. Seychelles for example depends on tourism and service industry which is human resource - no country can be set itself best more than that. Mauritius has the most mature service and banking industry in Africa and perhaps the most diverse non-mineral economy in Africa. The only problematic country here is equatorial guinea. If oil industry crashes, this country could become poorer than Chad. |

We can't tell the future but currently the country closest to being developed in Africa is Seychelles, Mauritius, Equatorial Guinea, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa in that order. |

vaxx: For better assessment of standard of living in a country, GDP is not a sufficient measure. Human Development Index, Gini coefficient, are some of other measures to do that. Each index constitutes different information. One single index is never advised. and in this category, Ghana is ahead of both Nigeria and Kenya.
GDP assumes too much, it assumes all growth is good growth.for example, the pollution of the water in Nigeria due to oil exploration, the clean up will be added to GDP, as is the health care cost. But clearly that is a negative for society, even as it is a positive for GDP.
i agree that no one number could possibly serve as a good measure of an economic system. Any statistic involves choices about what to measure, what to include, how to weight those inputs, and what to exclude. For a Nigeria system of 180 million people and billions of dollars, no number could possibly capture the variety of experiences and vagaries of output and growth. GDP is a usual measure, but we rely on it far too much, that it to tell us things it cannot. Sir, nobody is saying GDP is the sole determinant of the economic and social state of a country. That's the reason we have always brought here other indices like HDI, Life expectancy, literacy, hunger index etc whenever our Nigerian brothers try to claim superiority based on GDP alone. However, someone posted the GDPs of those selected countries just for us to see what to expect this year. Please, let's focus on discussing that. |

vaxx: i am aware of this, and mind you not Kuwait, i mean UAE. i just said the gdp per capital does not factor in equality and inequality. therefore putting us in limbo.
it gives a value neutral of the size of the economy. if today, i decide to change my eating habit as a Nigerian ( meaning, if i stop cooking my own meal and decide to eat from restaurant, it will immideatly contribute to the commercial activity of Nigeria. it is not a practical demonstration of an economic welfare.
South africa has one of the highest in HDI in africa and has a very well developed industrial base. It also ranked highest on the prosperity index for 4 of the last 5 years (and second for 2016). (Meanwhile Nigeria is very low in this category. Fortunately, that's true for most third world countries and most African countries in that case. All in all, food contributes a tiny amount to the GDP generally and monetizing the whole of it won't really push a country much up above much richer countries. On average though, countries with higher GDP per capita have better living standards - there is of course some variance but it is always within a reasonable range. There is no way for instance a country with a GDP per capita of $10,000 will have lower living standards than that of $2000. |

vaxx: i am even combining the two nations. Qatar and UAE. The per capita GDP is simply the total GDP divided by the number of persons. It mentions nothing about the levels of equality and inequality. Chances are, that in a small country, per capita GDP might still be quite high even if the average standard of living is not. but in qatar and UAE . the standard of living is also high. Combining Qatar and Kuwait is a joke in comparison to China. Those two countries are not even the size of a mid-sized City in China so, no deal still. Just do the GDP per capita. Qatar has $63k and China has only $9k. While GDP might not give the exact living standards of a country, it gives the size of its economy. You should note though even inequality withstanding, there is a level beyond which a country can have better standards of living than it's counterpart with higher GDP per capita. South Africa is for instance more unequal than Nigeria but still, it has way better standards of living than Nigeria. |

Ibrahimanis: Recession and it's not growing fast enough.
Still contracted in first half of 2018 again when oil price wobbled a bit. A true Petro economy. The oil in Angola has been kind of a curse even though it's the only reason Angola is in the top 10 Africa's economies. It took them to Civil war and now their economy is too dependent on it. |

vaxx: it's only an account of the growth in the number of commercial transactions in the economy. It's not a very good measure to understand development of a society. It is also highly value-neutral, which can be a bad thing. i actually dont subscribed to it. the commercial activity of china is 20 times bigger than that of qatar and United arab Emirates in combine. yet, this tiny nations(citizen's )are living larger than life. China's GDP is greater than Qatar's in absolute numbers but remember China has 1.3 billion people while Qatar has only 2.6 million. Check the per capita GDP and you'll understand. |

You are allowing the Ghanaian illiterate to fill your head with rubbish... Ghana's economy is even more dominated by foreigners than Kenya's... Daejoyoung: ln that case why does Frances or England beat the likes of China, India, and the U.S? the simple reason is that no matter the size of a country, it is stupid to measure talents per capita. Kenyans have some of the best runners, not because of population but because the Kenyan nation is simply good at that. Lol, how do you measure talents per capita England beats China because England is simply way better than China in football. Why are you guys so daft? Look, South Korea's economy is over 5 times that of Nigeria yet South Korea has only a quarter of your population. Can we use that to discredit the relevance of GDP per capita? Which schools do you people go to? |

Katanka is older than innoson yet innoson just launched it's automated plant, shows some serious business.
You really need to read that article I posted.
That man assemble CKD vehicles and pass them off as manufactured vehicles. I don't know much about Kantaka but many vehicle manufacturers import parts and come up with a unique product. Whichever way it is, Kantaka will become a serious African vehicle manufacturer if they work smart. |

Ibrahimanis: Then explain to me how India has more listed companies than US and US has more than China.
And no there is nothing like listed companies per capita. What is considered in a stock exchange is market capitalization and again no there is nothing like market capitalization per capita but market capitalization in ratio to GDP.
Comprende? Why are you guys so daft? Dude, you came here with a point boasting about how Nigeria has the second most listed companies in Africa. I told you it's stupid to boast over that considering Nigeria is by far the most populous country in Africa dwarfing the next by 100%. This is common sense - we don't have to have a recognized statistical index known as listed companies per capita to understand that. The whole world spent weeks laughing at England when they were beaten with Iceland because Iceland is a tiny country - do we have a statistical index like goals per capita? NO. But it is common sense - England has enough populace to draw great talent from and Iceland doesn't so Iceland beating England means England was so shitty. It's that simple. The second part of your point is just absurd, you knew about market capitalization when you boasted about listed companies without considering their sizes and now you're discrediting something that you brought yourself - you're basically piercing yourself in the foot. |
