First of all, the idea that houses in Lagos is somehow ASTRONOMICALLY more expensive in Lagos than in other places is WRONG!

Go to Enugu. Houses in Enugu are on the same price point as those in Lagos. Yet, Enugu does not have HALF the economic opportunities that Lagos have.

Same thing is obtainable in Osogbo, Osun state.
Houses there are NEARLY on the same price level as those in Lagos.

YET, Osun state does not have half the economic opportunities in 1 LCDA in Lagos State.

The only places that you would really FEEL the price differences in Lagos is if you're looking for apartments in the really HIGHBROW areas of Lagos State.

One reason people complain about house rents in Lagos is because majority of people in Lagos are TENANTS in Lagos but have HOMES in their own states.

They have not had the NEED to rent apartments in their OWN states.
Otherwise, many of them would REALISE that the MADNESS of exorbitant house rents is NOT limited to Lagos State.

ANOTHER reason that would explain the house rents in Lagos is the fact that Lagos is the SMALLEST state in Nigeria when it comes to landmass yet it's simultaneously the MOST POPULOUS state in Nigeria.

TOO MANY people are jostling for TOO LITTLE space.

Then, there is simply the matter of the FACT that Lagos is the LARGEST economic hub in West Africa.

Rents in such places would RIGHTFULLY be more expensive than in the backwater places that people hardly hear about.

Just like you CANNOT expect rents in Silicon Valley or Hollywood to be the same as rents in places like Alaska.

Same way you cannot expect prices in Lagos to be similar to Ekiti or Abia state or Gombe state.

Especially, when you consider the fact that Lagos doubles as both the Silicon Valley and Hollywood of Nigeria.

Finally, there are the DEMONS called REAL ESTATE AGENTS.
They are CRIMINALS and CROOKS that should be expunged from the housing market.

But they are NOT exclusive to Lagos.
They are EVERYWHERE.

My point is that RENTS in Lagos are WORTH IT.
They are JUSTIFIABLE.
Plus, the difference in price between Lagos and any other halfway decent city/state is NOT that much compared to MASSIVE difference in economic opportunities and amenities.

ALL that being said, I CANNOT stand Lagos.
