HeavenlyBang: Buy a 2005 Civic. It'll be much cheaper than a Corolla, have better fuel economy, be more reliable.
Civic>>Corolla. Been like that for the past 20 years. Best advice. Heard the transmission ish was corrected in 05 series. Even I'm to get a ride based on this budget, then I will be picking the Civic or Benz w202(though it's dated/old but I don't care The pleasure of driving a Benz is only surpassed by the feels of a woman |

yak: by budget here, I mean cost of maintenance. especially for someone on salary of 100k with small family This is a hard call personally. Both cars are great but then I will like to share my personal opinion ( note that I'm not a car guru or mechanic) Some foreign online users complained of failed transmission in the Civic and there are also widely mentioned oil shortage in the Corolla ...but is there any car without issues.what will tilt my consideration in favor of the Civic is the spacious interior as a family man. Both are also great fuel savers. Can't really talk about costs of parts cos I have never used both of them both going by request and inquiries here on NL, it seems the part of the Corolla may be a bit higher than the Civic ( I stand to be corrected) |

BMedia: Do not despair, but continually improve yourself as you put your faith and trust in God.
Let me share my story - So I and a relative finished from the same faculty some years ago, and due to several factors including a ridiculous uni policy and juvenile deliquency, we only managed to finish with a pass degree. Of course I was disheartened but we went ahead to serve the nation (NYSC). Soon after, my cousin's dad who was in government was able to secure a job for him with an international NGO operating in our state, despite the class of degree, while I went to the U.K to attempt a fresh degree. Few years later I graduated with a 2.1 (Honours) and immediately proceeded for my MSc which I completed with a Merit. All these cost me at least N30 million in tuition and living expenses as this was when the Naira fell as low as N600 to 1 pound.
Well I returned to Nigeria with my 3 degrees expecting to be the toast of employers, but I kept passing aptitude tests and attending interviews but was unable to get a job due to the Nigerian factor (though i must admit I was initially rather choosy considering the magnitude of my investment) until a month ago when I landed an FG job (through connection not merit) which pays next to nothing, but I accepted as a stepping stone to greater heights (if you know how the FG works).
Interestingly while I was bettering myself for the labour market, my cousin had already married, gained significant NGO experience, and only a few weeks ago got a mouth watering (actually an understatement) offer to join their mission in the U.S based on his satisfactory performance on the job over the years. With a pass degree.
Now is this fair? Of course not. Do i regret my choices? Not at all because the exposure, knowledge and experience I gained (worked in insurance for a year during my masters in the UK) has equipped me for greatness and my faith and trust in God assures me that i was only being prepared for the greater exploits, according to his divine purpose, especially as I am working towards establishing a private practice, amidst other entrepreneurial aspirations.
I hesitatingly decided to share this story but I hope it encourages you, with the knowledge that your class of degree does not ultimately determine your altitude in life, but your divine purpose, God's timing and your hunger for success and self improvement. Stop using your friend as a ruler to measure yourself, instead pray & trust in God, think outside the "teaching box" (get relevant professional certifications, attend seminars for networking opportunities, explore entrepreneurship) and you should be fine. Good luck. This is a nice story. I'm inspired. These are the kind of persons I like to meet |

TechCapon: that's also what I do all the time. That's how Apple bought Beats by Dr Dre headphone and now they've completely dumped the company. They released new sets of phones and produced their own airpods or wireless earphones. That's how Beats company just died. Apart from musicpleer, which other site can one download good music. Most times, when I try other sites, immediately I click download, it opens up as something else in another page. Only music pleer gives me what I want but sometimes, the music I want is not in their archive |
Romance › Re: I should Let Her Go? by nams77: 7:30am On Sep 25, 2018 |
madridguy: Firstly, calling someone else father, husband a stupid man on a public forum is embarrassing and you need to edit the part.
To me, you are the root of every problem if you will listen to me. You bring this upon yourself telling your GF to apply for pay cut. You should have advise her to go for weekend program program ( PT ) considering her back ground. Well, am not trying to blame you for your advise because it is out of good will.
I wish to let you know this, if you really love your girl, you must be ready to love her with her burden. Either you take it or you leave it, her half brothers equally her full brothers. Considering the fact her biological father is late, her mother's husband remain her father and don't try to separate cos it won't work.
If you're capable in helping her, please don't hesitate to do so and mind you, don't ever tell your GF to leave her half brothers because she will start seeing you as enemy. Also, your statement that you cannot be taking care of her responsibility when you've not married is hurt and sound betraying considering you advise her to take job cut.
My suggestion, send her apology sms and let her know you're not trying to separate her family and if possible you see her real person.
My kobo. Mature advice Madridguy.. All those people yapping above, wait until you enter marriage and see for your self. I @ op,I f I were you, I would have looked for a part time program near her base and not transferring her to UNN. A lot of women take this kind of route and down the line, they meet some one else and the rest like they say, is history. Personally, I give assistance to people who aren't even related to me so why stop her from assisting the young lad's education. If she can afford it, let her do it. I would want to see it from the angle of helping the young boy and her mum and not the step father. But mind you, she should not end up becoming an ATM to the step father, so her Assistance should be at her own disgression. That you are well off those not give you the right to insult a man who is down. Some people wish to be good and responsible to their family but can't help t probably due to the economy or just ill-luck. As it stands now, you have boxed your self in a corner. Accede to her request and if she is the manipulative type, then know that you are now in a game of deceit and manipulation cos she will definitely use it as a tool. If this girl pleases you in her ways and conduct, then come of your high horse and talk to her soothingly (trying to avoid using the word apologize ). Let her know she can help her family if she can afford it and that you will support her. |

Juliearth: Sorry about your plight, op. That's one of the downside of schooling in Nigeria and I think ABU is sort of becoming a dead end( no pun intended please) reason why I avoided the institution like a plaque when I was weighing my options for the institution to put in for my MSC. You are already in this,so I think you should carry on and hope for the best. Next time, do not fail to carry out extensive research before venturing on a mission such as this, don't just rely on online review because that can be doctored. Perhaps, if you had brought this up here(and the mods are kind enough to bring it to front page) before applying, you would have gotten profession counsel and possibly reviews. Also, I souldbhave seen it too and would have recommended NOUN or CODEl(FUT Minna) to you. But op, why didn't you consider the National Open University? That would have been your best bet..plus you pay less and your expected date of graduating is sure ( all things being equal) But noun offered courses seem to be limited |
