The reference no. Shows that appointment application wasn't made today.

Kizzygentle:
A scholarship student just applied for date and got one today for August 31st
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 6:55pm On Jul 27, 2020
I booked today in cat b got a similar mail but with response to my AD to come in 4 to 6 weeks. I will keep an eye on my mail.

Chukskala022:
Don't you guys think we should cancel and rebook again since he just booked and got a date?
Just a suggestion...
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 3:51pm On Jul 27, 2020
If all have been observing the recent trend like I stated most schools will likely go fully online this winter, while most schools like Th koln, Uni Potsdam and Uni Bremen are going hybrid... So make sure your school will require your presence cos once German embassy opens it's definitely gonna be a requirement.

CooKeed:
In my opinion, this is a poor excuse. Many people will kill for an opportunity to have their first semester online and then continue in Germany when international flights open and visa is granted.

What is the meaning of "poor Internet connection in your country?" Your monthly cost of living in Germany will be enough to get a reliable alternative power supply and internet connectivity. You have enough time to make arrangements. Your classes will not be impromptu, you will have a time table. Many people in Nigeria enrol for online degrees in very reputation foreign universities and they complete their studies without problems.

If your primary purpose of going to Germany is to school, then this shouldn't be an issue for you at all. In fact, you should be glad.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 11:17am On Jul 27, 2020
Yes exactly.... U ll get an instant message from them with ur ref. no. And subsequently, u r supposed to get AD in 4 to 6 weeks times.

CooKeed:
You are to book appointment after you obtain your admission letter.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 8:32pm On Jul 26, 2020
I doubt this...maybe for non restricted/open admissions, but not for the restricted ones. All you take time to send mails, call your student affairs departments... Explain your predicaments. What applies in school A doesn't apply in School B. God help us in this journey.

Kizzygentle:
Should I tell you guys one sweet truth.
This pandemic will favour all students given admission for winter semester because there would be no barriers for giving out AD to both catA and B provided you have your extension letter. There is automatic extension of enrolment till march which is enough time to give all students AD. If your school dosent provide this document you can write to them. You all can as well do the logic. I see this as a win win and God go help us all.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 8:25pm On Jul 26, 2020
I think we should deliberate on this... The SuSe 2020/21 experimentation with online learning didn't pan out all well. So the winter semester will be a hybrid semester- meaning online and onsite learning... Of which the supervisors/ departments have to apply for access IDs for students to access school buildings when they are needed onsite. I can tell for Uni Bremen and Uni Potsdam that intend to go hybrid this winter. So the question is this... Will it be possible to enroll by proxy since this option is already in place. Go on with online classes while waiting for AD/Visa... Get a letter of presence like most guys have suggested here. Instead of refusing to enrol and forfeit the admission...that is if ur department doesn't allow you to extend or defer, cos it's based on departments not the school. How will that work??

fancyto:
It would only favour those whose universities permit an extension, some school's enrollment date is October or November and cannot be shifted.
Meaning if they don't get their visa that period, they totally forfeit their admission.
Very painful...

Nice one bro... A good leader always keeps an open mind.

lexdino:
Oga, I understand that you are entitled to your opinion but your actions so far (in disorganizing our online campaign that was meant to pressure government into considering reopening Nigeria's international flight by August in accordance with Covid-19 best practices as being implemented by other countries planning to reopen theirs by August) is not a fair action.

The reality of politics is that government exists to serve the interest of the organized few. This thread is titled "General German Student VISA ENQUIRIES". Therefore your opinion that our campaign is 'fruitless' and 'a derailer' is not true because the tenets of OpenNGIntlAirspace hash tag is an interest shared by almost every realistic student that is following this thread and as such, it was necessary for the few realists amongst us to organize ourselves and attempt to draw government's attention to our plight and interests through legitimate channels. The idealists amongst us are those who believe that passivity is a virtue in the current situation and I do not blame them either. But as the moderator (leader) here, you ought to have remained neutral and only intervene when a rule gets broken.

Your opinion that 'the airport will only open when its safe to do so" is a subjective one. My question is: who determines when it is safe?

Take the case of India for example, they are presently among the worst hit countries of Covid-19 but if you follow this link https://www.livemint.com/news/india/india-in-talks-with-france-germany-us-for-resumption-of-international-flights-11594902783966.html you will see how India's government is already in talks with other countries to reach an agreement to enable mutual international flights by August. Such actions by India's government would not have been possible without an organized few who were able to persuade the government of India to serve their interest by reopening India's international flight.

A good leader always keeps an open mind.

If France and UK are resuming visa applications then it points to something positive in the horizon. It's expected that other EU nations will follow suit.

[qquote author=olig post=91986669]Yeah!

Obviously international flights will resume very soon. And other embassies will follow suit.

Let see what happens in August.[/quote]

Oga how is this a good news. This simply confirms that they are utterly confused and don't have a direction and concrete plan on resumption of international flights. I will advice we disregard this news cos their are still lot of drama on the way.

TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 3:17pm On Jul 21, 2020
So what happens to the UK that has plans to resume visa applications by july 28. Do this people actually do a wide consultations before taking decisions. Closing airspace since March, is international travel less important compared to interstate movement. I think they are so incompetent to handle the situation well enough as other countries have. Nigeria is simply running away from being embarrassed if they fail where little nations have succeeded.

clintonsparkz:
Do you know how many embassies has not opened because of this "international flight resumption" . Even the German embassy are using that not to even given as little as date for interview, so as it stands they might start given dates by October or farther sef, cause the suspension of flight is subject to elongation.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 2:50pm On Jul 21, 2020
At this point, we need a broad and concise breakdown of what they understand the "essentials" to be cos according to the EU directives students fall into that category. They should be able to communicate to the foreign embassies on how feasible and realistic the date is for them to be able to open up visa applications for this categories of "essentials" and "diplomats". They just need to do this as to not put to jeopardy every one's effort on this winter application.

uchezdedon:
Students should be exempted and would probably be part of the "essentials".
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 11:55am On Jul 19, 2020
It's very unprecedented what we are facing this year. We should rather take our time and research what is happening around the globe as regards similar predicament we find ourselves in. Protocols will change for sure, even when the embassy opens. So we should find out what are the his protocols, the likelihood of it being repeated here and so as not to be cut off guard. Those are the infos we ought to be sharing here and disregard any baseless and gibberish utterances.

uchezdedon:
Embassy is yet to resume and never made mention of any additional documents stating the need of your presence in the university, but being so desperate alot of people have started requesting for that from schools.

Embassy can only reject ur visa if you couldn't provide the documents they listed for students visa application, or you weren't able to convince the VO during your interview or you couldn't meet up with your enrollment deadline.

I tire for Nigerians.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 11:49am On Jul 19, 2020
Am really getting fed up with this thread this year it's seems all the well articulated and constructive guys "don" disappear. If no one has anything constructive and meaningful to say they should just hush... I still think a lot of newbies here should take their time and go through part 1 to the present thread. All this gibberish talk here is taking away the shine of this thread.

GreatMage:
I laugh bitterly at some comments I read here...
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 4:46pm On Jul 18, 2020
What about a scenario where you are able to pay your semester fee and do your enrollment by proxy and your student ID, semester ticket, with every other necessary documents is sent to you via post mail. You probably start off classes here online. What happens to you when the embassy finally opens...

GreatMage:
For your first question:

There are schools that allow enrollment by proxy or online but if your school doesn't...
The embassy would calculate if you have the chance of making it before the enrollment deadline; if it turns out negative: They will ask for an extension letter from your school.
So I am not sure the scenario you envision is possible!
Before your student visum is granted to you by the embassy then they are certain you will make it before the deadline cuz they usually note a date before you can travel out of the country.
So everything is taken into account...

As for the last question:

As you said; the embassy isn't opened..
So there's no way they will grant you Visa. If they open and you receive AD, you go for the AD and get your visum...
Then congrats; Germany is already in sight!

As I said earlier; for the embassy to give you Visa means every possible scenario and predicament has been settled and calculated.
The highest that can happen is for them to request for enrollment extension from your school, without that; No Visa.
And they will tell you when you go for your appointment.

Thanks!

If true then that's a good since. Better to know they are operational than been entirely closed. They will soon see the need to get the student section rolling.

Ifwal:
Yes, someone had her family reunion interview today..
The question is, when are they going to start giving appointment to students.
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 4:35pm On Jul 14, 2020
I still believe it's all going to pan out right if we take the appropriate steps. Like someone said on this forum, gather as much AL you can, take the ones that give you option of online classes and enroll pending when the embassy resumes visa applications or better still defer the admission when it gets to that point of no return.

chisomonyeke:
My school mate studying in Germany is busy enjoying summer even travelled to Zurich( Switzerland). These ban on international flight is somewhat directed to Africa and Nigeria is the mist hit.

Thus is so painful. I got admission for summer, I couldn't get appointment and I have for winter by God's grace but this Covid-19 and embassy not helping issues at a all.

We keep faith in God, All is we'll.

@justwise allow this to tarry for a while... It is interesting to note how the human mind works. I really don't know how long everyone on this forum have been following this thread, but it should be a moment of reflection for us all on how we got to this point in the first place. No doubt their is COVID-19 and whether we like it or not their will definitely be a second wave of this pandemic before we finally get hold of it. Alas, the world can't come to a stand still because of it. People have a right to their opinions and how they see themselves living through this phase. Countries, governments, organizations owe it to their subjects on dotting the i's and crossing the t's. As for the tweets, what is it that we v not bantered on in this forum since part 1 till date, right or wrong, whether a black or white man's life matters or doesn't , never expect people to see things from the same perspective. M.K.O Abiola may he soul rest in peace... I was a kid then when a single man's fight for what he believed in was his right and mandate spiralled this country to the brink of a second civil war... Lives where lost maybe you people have forgotten. But today he is being eulogized as having died for the democracy we all for the past twenty years are said to be enjoying, ( enjoying or not, check which side of the divide you are) the longest ever in our history as a nation. Not everyone liked his actions, some called him a selfish and self centered man who wouldn't let sleeping dogs lie, but would rather be indifferent, carefree and watch the country burn. Today "nko"after all that dust, where we "de" now. Ascribe that to this whole palavar now. Please, don't insult each other here, but rather brainstorm on a way forward for the good of all. Long live Nigeria and may our heroes efforts not be in vain, likewise this German Waka for all.
OtunbaBlack:
Justwise please come and delete all this post. They are derailing the thread. We that come here to read updates can’t read.. it’s insults and bants all over.. please help us remove them . Thanks

And why book when they are not accepting visa applications.

dipotol:
When did you book? Which CAT are you and when is your enrollment deadline?
TravelRe: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Nania: 12:52pm On Jul 09, 2020
And how logical is that? Who told you it's because of the international flights that hasn't resumed? So if the international flight resumption falls on your enrollment deadline you done for it. Keep the tweets going till we get an official response from them.

dipotol:
Since it is clear that the visa section is still closed due to the international flight that's yet to resume in our own country. Isn't it logical for us to maybe pause the tweets until the flight resumes and maybe we still don't hear from them?
