PoliticsRe: Devolution Of Electricity Regulation: Lagos Team Meets TCN by naptu2(op): 10:46am On Nov 20, 2024
That project ⬆️ was regulated by the Federal Government, not by a state government.

In fact, the original NERC license was granted in 2005 (long before any of the laws were enacted), but there was a delay due to a dispute.

It has got nothing to do with devolution of electricity regulation.

In March 2023 President Muhammadu Buhari signed a constitutional ammendment bill into law and part of the ammendments was that states could generate, transmit and distribute electricity in places that were covered by the National Grid.

In June 2023, President Tinubu signed an ammendment to the Electricity Act into law. The new law allows states to issue licenses to companies to generate, transmit and distribute electricity within their states. The law says that the states must first enact a law to regulate electricity generation, transmission and distribution before they can take over the regulatory functions of the NERC.

CAFWCL: Edo Queens Lose 3-1 To TP Mazembe In Semi-finals

Edo Queens suffered a 3-1 defeat to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in the first semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Tuesday.

It was a game Edo Queens would be kicking themselves after failing to hold on to their 1-0 lead as TP Mazembe scored in the 90th minute to send the game into extra-time.

The Congolese then went on to score two more goals in extra-time to advance to the final.

After a goalless first half Peace Essien broke the deadlock in the 65th minute to give Edo Queens the lead.

Unfortunately the Nigerian champions could not hold on as TP Mazembe equalised thanks to Merveille Kanjinga.

An own goal by Comfort Folorunsho in the 101st minute in extra-time put TP Mazembe 2-1 ahead.

Then Marlene Kasaj added the third goal from the penalty spot in three minutes of added time in the first half of extra-time.

Edo Queens will now take on either AS FAR of Morocco or Egypt’s FC Masar in the third-placed play-off on November 22.

Edo Queens scored two goals in stoppage time against champions Mamelodi Sundowns to win 2-1 in their final Group B game.

PoliticsRe: Someone Came To IDP Camp With 1 Wife, Now He Has 4 Wives - Governor Zulum by naptu2(op):
Someone Arrived In Borno IDP Camp With One Wife And Now Has Four Wives After Adding Three More In Camp –Governor Zulum

November 19, 2024

In a viral video, he disclosed that in one of the IDP camps in the state, there is one person he personally knows who arrived there in 2012 with one wife but now has four wives.

The Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has expressed concern over the rising cases of polygamy in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps across the state.

In a viral video, he disclosed that in one of the IDP camps in the state, there is one person he personally knows who arrived there in 2012 with one wife but now has four wives.

“In one of the IDP camps here in Borno State, there is one person I know that came with just one wife into the camp in 2012 but now has four wives. He added three more wives inside the IDP camp," the governor said.

Criticising the lack of action by religious leaders and politicians, he added: "He can't feed. But which cleric is speaking against it in their sermons or which politician speaks against it? They will say if we speak against them, they will not vote for us. What if they don't vote for you?"

“There was a time when the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi spoke about it. There was no kind of insult that Nigerians didn't rain on him,” he remarked.

Citing the Qur'an, the governor said, "God speaks about marrying in the holy Qur'an that if you don't have resources, you shouldn’t do what, marry many wives."

He urged clerics, parents, and the government to work together in addressing social issues, particularly street begging.

"Let clerics come up with ideas, and strategies on how to reduce street begging in the state. Let the parents amend their ways, clerics should preach, and the government will also do our best," he concluded.

B•B @walexzy_bb

And you allowed him to remain in the camp?
CIA Agent KUKUTE @Ade_Nurayn

Kick him out of the camp and watch him and opposition members turn it to a propaganda tool against the Governor/govt.

El-Rufai tried to end almajirinci in Kaduna but some clerics (Dahiru Bauchi & co.) turned the matter on his head and deployed it as a campaign tool against APC.
B•B @walexzy_bb

So he should be encouraged so others can marry more than one wife in the camp? I disagree with that.

Whether campaign tool or not, mallam did what was right in KD at the time, I wished Uba could continue with that pace. Sadly he can't.
CIA Agent KUKUTE @Ade_Nurayn

Did what? He dropped the ball. The Tijaniyya sect in Kaduna were anti anything APC/Malam and they showed it in the 2019 and 2023 elections in the State by voting against APC.

Point here is leaders should speak more against the mentality. Educate them on why it's a scourge.

Instead of working to get out there and build his family again, he’s adding more wives and bringing children he can't feed in the camp. Dan Arewa kenan!
