Good morning the followers of this thread, Today i will like to talk about the business of football wear rentage that corps members can go into. I know many would be grumbling deep inside at the site of that statement and feel that the business is a long term one and requires patience to yield profit. Yes I agree but the patience is really worth it at the end of the day. Football jerseys and boots can be provided by any corps member who has the contacts on where to get them. I remember there are football competitions that come up often and most of the teams do not have regular jerseys or boots for this purpose in this locality. Even in the camp, platoon leaders are made to go in search of jerseys for their platoon to use for interplatoon football competitions. While I was in camp, our platoon had to buy even the football that would be used for the purpose of training before the game proper. I could remember then every platoon had at least one of those balls. The platoon leader got some jerseys for the players in his platoon which I'm not sure whether they were bought or rented. There are many teams around my PPA which I know will buy the idea of renting jerseys, shorts, shin guards, socks and other other football equipments. Corps members used to set up friendlies with these teams and I know the interest generated by such kinds of competition. Now imagine a corps member that has those equipments listed above for the purpose of rentage. He can have as many as four first 11 jerseys for different teams. During the last week of camp, football activities normally kick off. If the corps member can go straight to camp and negotiate with those platoon leaders to come rent his equipments, he might end up giving it out for four teams. If he decides to charge N4500 for the jerseys for one team. Four teams will be 18k. Ofcourse there is for boots as well; Maybe he charges 7k for the rentage of 11 pairs. For four teams that will be 28k. He might end up making 46k just for a week.During his set, camp will open twice and they will still need the jerseys again. It means he can get up to 96k in the space of one year renting to corps members in the camp alone. After renting out to corps members, he goes back to his PPA and rent it out to some other guys that will need it for maybe intervillage competitions. The corps member can also move around advising other corps members of the need to arrange football competitions with the indigenes. If he's able to convince several corps members in their PPA ofcourse he'll be creating the need for his jerseys and make some cool cash from it. The local indigenes had been asking me whether i can arrange jerseys for their teams. If there's someone around i would have just directed them to him. Think about it and let me know how you feel. |
Tomorrow has been declared vouching for corps members. So any corps hoping to try any of ideas we all posted up there have today or early hours of tomorrow to buy the necessary things needed for them. Sorry for derailing the thread. More posts still ahead... |
Yes I have seen your post and have just sent a mail to you now. Check you inbox. Thanks. |

idlaw2k3: What part of Akwa Ibom state is your viewing center located? In ikot okoro area of oruk anam local government in akwa ibom state. |
Am waiting o |
I had started business as a corps member wayback in 2011 and currently owns a viewing centre in akwa ibom state. I had taken time to analyse the businesses that will be successful in these areas for me to invest on later on. Due to my ambition to succeed in the minimum time possible, I will like to negotiate deals with nairalanders that are into phones, electronics and computer businesses. So much quantities of those products are needed here but because of my limited capital, I'm not able to move with the pace of the market. If I can find trustworthing individuals that are into the aforementioned businesses who will give me products and then I pay installmentally or the individual can come over here to sample his goods and I then take over the marketing and sales of those products in my shops. Any individual interested in this partnership should please signify and also give suggestions and how best to do it. Patiently waiting for responses.... |
Brand_new: This is interesting. It's the fear of tomorrow that really led me to this path. If i wasn't bothered, this path wouldn't have presented itself. |

The average Nigerian youths are obsessed watching latest movies. Some prefer indigenous films while others like more of foreign films. Ofcourse, most corps members prefer to watch foreign movies than our locally made films. However, in rural communities, the demand for locally made films is very high and ofcourse a corps member can buy lots of these films and sell them in their PPA. The major distributors of nigerian films is in alaba international. In this market, part one and two is sold for N100 but in the rural community here, the lowest that it's been sold is N200 for part one and two. Also foreign movies sell at a similar prize but depends on the quality. There are two types; blue face and gold face. The former is sold for N50 each and plays only in latest DVD players. The latter plays in all DVD players including laptops and other gadgets. The gold face sells for N70 each in Alaba international market. This is sold locally for as high as N200 each. If you are very good in selecting current films then you on your way to picking up some cool cash in your PPA. It goes to say that a corps member posted to a village can buy alot of plates and sell to the local community. All he needs is a portable DVD player which cost about N8000 so he can test the plates for them. I'd once bought the blue face worth 7k and nigerian movies worth 13k. In less than a month, I was able to sell most of the nigerian films. I sold part one and two for N200. I had only bought some few quantities of the gold face as I never knew that it's the one that plays in laptops and desktops. This is usually the one demanded by corps members but the indigenes are contented with blue face. I would have sold plenty of the gold face because many corps members picked interest in the films i brought but unfortunately it wouldn't play on their laptop. I had encouraged the indigenes to buy as many films as possible by using this unique tactics (as no competitor currently practices is it): When one buys a film titled True Love 1 and 2 for N200. I would tell the person to return the films and pay N100 for another title. I had used this method to sell a lot of films. It means that if i open a video club it's absolutely going to be successful. Nigeria films on celluloid is not good for storage because you don't feel like watching it again after watching it for the first time. So most people will jump on the opportunity of buying one for the full amount and then subsequently pay half for another after returning the one he or she first bought. Although, some customers still insist on my buying completly. It's all the same but it will make u lack some titles on the long run. Another customer will see that title and pick it still paying the full amount. I guess if the people that normally sell this plates adopt this style they could have sold more copies than they are currently. I remember i used to have someone that sells all this things in the village but he never sold as much as i had. This is majorly because of the benefits the customers feel they are getting. A major advantage of the method aside bringing customers is that u get such customers yourself. They will never go outside to buy a film you already gat. Now i tell u to try the same thing and see how it worked out. This is not fiction, because it's what I've done and it had worked for me. Those plates will never be a liability if u market them well. The profit margin is high and it's not even stressful. The higher the number of quantity you are able to buy the more your profits. A twenty thousand naira worth of plates beget over 40k if gold face(doesn't move market because of the prize) is included . Over 20k being the profit. You could sell it in less than 2 months depending on how friendly you are to them. I tell you to Sit, Think and React(STAR) ....More on the way... |
Thank your God that you have not lost cash just yet. I wonder how some people could be so careless when dealing with online business. How on earth will the OP contemplate to even try to buy the goods without receiving payments. Thank ur God u never fall maga before using ya head. |
Lest I forget, happy new year to you all! |
Lest I forget, Happy new year to you all! |
Many at times I used to be discouraged by the predicaments of the local people most especially the graduates in the location. As time wore on, I knew better than to be discouraged. There were some funny aspects of owning and managing a viewing centre which along the way frustrated me but somehow I would manage to get the solution to those problems. Most of these experiences had really toughen me up and made me a better person. I started my viewing centre in a really small way just the way one would get a tv and a decoder for home use. I did bought a small tiger generator to serve the purpose of providing electricity. At times I would go to the viewing centre some minutes before the kickoff time of an important match. Starting the generator maybe as difficult as hell. So I would quickly take it to a generator repair who would fix it for me. This engineer has his shop located a couple of distance away from my viewing centre. I would just lift the generator and trekked all the way to his shop. I had never been in this situation in my life and never even imagined it one single bit. I would meet some corps members along the way and their look and all that, I knew they would be going through different thoughts in their mind just the way i would if I had never been in that situation. The challenge came and i had to deal with it immediately not even hesitating a single bit. This part of generator fault has really taught me a lot of lessons that maybe i wouldn't have been able to experience anywhere in the world. Because of this, I had learnt to repair generators in emergency cases most especially when it falls on a sunday that no generator repairer would be available to help. The next time I travelled back to lagos, for sure, no one told me to get a spare generator for my viewing centre as a result of my experiences. This even introduced another me to a business i never thought of. I now deal with the sale of generators as a result of my experiences. I would buy a small belgium used generator at 3500# in lagos and place the price tag on it. I would find buyers at 8k or even more. Even having a spare generator does not guarantee that the issue of generator faults would not develop. It occurs when u really need it badly. There was this day i came to the centre to show the euro 2012 match between England and Italy. I took one of the generator set out. In trying to return the choke, I discovered that it had detached away from the carburettor. I brought out the tools of the generator to see if i could fix it: no way! Meanwhile customers were there cursing and hissing and saying some annoying statements that really got me pissed off. I brought out the big Generator set as an alternative. It really did start but did not supply electricity. Not again! I tried to fix it, no success. No one was willing to help but then they kept on taunting me and I became emotionally affected. Thank God the big generator finally worked and I was able to show the match but about twenty-three minutes late into the match. They came in and watch. I apologized from the time wastage and went ahead to tell them that I wouldn't reduce a kobo from the normal fee as a result of the delay. Some protested, but I told them the door was opened if they weren't ready to watch. Formally, i used to be soft on them but immediately after that incident, i had gained a form of autocratic attribute that i was hitherto lacking in my life. I still feel that if tomorrow I become the head of a very big organization, my experiences in the viewing centre is enough for me to manage people in whatever capacity that i serve. Ofcourse I'd met different kinds of people in my life that ordinarily I wouldn't have been able to come across. I could be able to motivate a crowd of say three hundred people to go in my way of thinking. There are times that the cost of production would go up and I had to announce an emergency increase in my prize. At first, I find this very frustrating because one will meet various negative responses during this time. But today I've learnt how to calm tension and convince people to cooperate with me and do my wish. Perhaps prior to acquiring my business experience, I would struggle in a job interview but I couldn't imagine that in this stage of my life. I have learnt to look for solutions instead of taking time to explain why decisions didn't work. I had learnt to be an action man instead of waiting for miracle to happen. Many at times, i will have troublemakers who pretend to come to watch match and look for every opportunity to make trouble. Prior to my experiences, i probably will fall for them but as time goes on i discovered methods to deal with such kinds of people. My ability to downplay issues has really helped me alot in combination with my ability to communicate in the local dialect. With the magnitude of experience i had dealing with these kinds of people, i had the believe that if i mistakenly stumbled in a midst of criminals i would somehow find a way to elude their plans to harm me. I could go on talking about the experiences i had gained which really had gone a long way to help me in crowd management. Ofcourse, I had ended up acquiring an additional nigeria language that I found so interesting. The indigenes automatically fall in love with you just for this singular reason and it made my work even easier as I'm good with learning languages fast coupled with the enthusiasm to learn . I had completed my service since june 2011 but till present i am still called a corper everywhere i go. I had tried to explain that i was being demoted for being called such as I had crossed that huddle some years back. In fact, many new corps members get to even know about me before meeting me personally as a result of the willingness of the members of the community to talk about me. Most of these corps members posted here were amazed with my popularity because the people kept on seeking my attention for one thing or the other. At times some corps members wouldn't know me; that i would be in a bus stop waiting for a bike along with them. We would strike up a conversation and the next thing i would hear is that they've heard of me and were hoping to meet me. I have met as many corps members as possible and have alot of them as my friends on social networking sites. Many have finished and some still serving. So far i continue to be in this locality i will continue to meet a lot of them. This networking may also help me in ways i can never imagine as I like travelling a lot. I might decide tomorrow to have viewing centres spread around the country and these corps members that were posted here every year will surely help me realize that dream. To be continued shortly... |
log1: More power to your elbow bro. Your story iz a motivation for we awaiting corps member. Luckly for me am even thinking of influencing my posting to Awka ibom, i hope to meet you soon. I pray God will connect you to that business dat will pay u big. By the way, which business can someone do in camp. Sowe to divert ur attention frm d aim of this thread. That is nice. If I reply every post on nairaland, I wouldn't be surprised if I see a book titled "The life and times of nas4q". The jamb questions are really too much and there's this temptation of commenting if it appears on the frontpage. They get the useless attention because the post appear on frontpage. The OP did not even drop his, he instead seek for our own directly. I won't put up mine till i get his! |
China phones has somehow manage to dominate most rural areas. This is because they are cheaper and more readily available than other phone types. As a result of the experiences i had gathered from managing my viewing centre, i'd discovered that their batteries is in high demand because the frequency in which their owners charge their phones in my place is very high. China phones now come with standard nokia batteries. The type mostly in demand is BL-5C. This one is thicker than BL-4C. Since i know exactly how an original nokia follow come battery looks like, i went to computer village in search of it. It took time before i was able to locate where it's sold. Now i was given those batteries at the rate of N350. I bought only twenty pieces of it since it's the first time but if i'd seen a post like this before i bought i would have bought more. Presently i am known around this locality to be a supplier of original follow come batteries. I sold each battery for N700 and at times #600 depending on the person. Unfortunately, since i bought only 20 pieces, the batteries had been exhausted in less than 30days. During this time and up till now, i do get requests for different kinds of batteries of phones. This type of battery is not the one most people pour on the ground in the market and call it original. Most of them are fake and the authencity could only be confirmed from usage or from tiny details in the battery itself. Now imagine if i had batteries of different phones at a large quantity and display it where many people will see it. At first they will be sceptical of the originality as many people have sold fake for them in the pretence of selling the original. So to combat this, there are some people that u can give to go and test it. If they liked it they pay you, if not u get it back. If it really the original, they will end up buying and also give u referals whenever they have someone that is having battery problems. This is the method i'd used to sell the few ones i came with and now when they buy, they don't necessary test it because, it had been tested and now trusted. Be rest assured that you will see different people that will need those. It will never be a waste. Before then you have to know how the original follow come batteries look like. That's where your assignment start from cuz u have failed even before starting if you buy the fake one. Many people do have spare batteries for their phones and this even make the chances of selling even higher. Many corps members will patronize u only and only if it's the original you have bought. Perhaps my viewing centre has made it easier for me to meet people that need the batteries but in your own case it is not hard to look for buyers. Many of the batteries even in lagos are sold costly because not many people know where the original one can be obtained. The original carry come battery of nokia C3 in computer village goes for 1200# but you will be suprised that the wholesale prize is just 600#. This is one of the easiest businesses to try. It can never fail if you buy the original if not you're on your own. Go ahead and take action! Please let me know the ones that interest you the most so that i may expanciate. More of this on the way as this is just the begining... |
In this christmas and new year period, companies offer various goods at a promotional prize. I remember a friend of mine told me he saw nokia bus moving around and advertizing some newly released dual sim phones at a cheap prize. This happened while i was in lagos for break. I was watching tv in the house then. What i would have done was to buy a handful of them and then take to my PPA as the prize was ridiculously cheap. Nokia X2 was sold at 10k, nokia C2 for 5k and C1 for 3500. It was only these phones that were available and till today i still regret why i wasn't at that spot when they arrived. A month after, i discovered those same phones were in the market for a higher prize. X2 now sells for 13k, C2 for 8k and C1 for 5k. Now imagine that i was there and manage to buy 70k worth of goods and then took it to my PPA and then take it to the city and display it after getting a school bell and then sell the phones at 12k for X2, 6k for C2 and 5k for C1. People would have rushed them instantly. The moment you tell them that your brother works with nokia and you are giving them at company price they will surely patronize you. Nigerians like buying wares that come cheap even when they didn't plan for it. Apart from displaying it in public places, you can move around and advertize it in schools, churches, banks and even meet resellers.Your profit will depend on the quantity u buy.Now those phones i described are common everywhere and prices is already known by most people. In akwa ibom state, goods are extremely expensive and this is majorly due to the mentality of the people. They will always want to make too much profit on goods they sell. I have plenty of instances here: they buy a big loaf of bread at N110 but they will not sell for anything less than N150 per piece. The same thing applies to electronic gadgets and phones. Nokia 302 sells for about 15k in lag but it's minimum prize here is 16,500#. When i compared prizes between lag and here, the prize differs with at least 1500#. This is the profit margin in the cities. How about in villages. The profit will be doubled. So imagine that some SMART corps member returning to their PPA sought for money and bought 20 phones. He or she will end up getting at least 20k and it will not even take long to sell them because he'll be moving around. If he runs out of goods in the process, there are many transport companies that will deliver the goods to their head office. So what he needs is to do is just to find someone that will buy the phones overthere in lag and waybill to the corps member using the transport company. I have once used Goshen Logistics and it's cost effective. The best time to buy anything at a bargain prize is now. Just go ahead and buy something instead of stashing the cash in the bank. It will not multiply in the bank. Try it and see. |
For those posted to the palm producing areas, it is also easy to make money locally if you are able to take risks. I couldn't count the number of risks i had taken to ensure my plans worked out. In the rural environment here, the indigenes get their money from oil palm plantation, poultry, trading and mechanical repairs. During february/march, their palm fruit is cultivated in abundance. There are lots of palm oil processors around and lots of work for them to do. Now at this time, since there's abundance of the fruit, the palm oil becomes cheap. A twenty litre of palm oil in february goes for N2800 but the same quantity of oil palm is sold for four thousand naira plus. It goes to say that, a batch C or A corps member can decide to buy the palm oil, hoard it around his residency and then sell when the price goes up. If he manages to store up 20 rubbers of twenty litre palm oil in february. He can sell it back in the same community at a higher price. Take for example, it was bought at 2800# per rubber and sold for 4k. The profit margin is 1.2k. This amount multiplied by twenty rubbers will give a profit of 24k in less than 6 months. Now that's the amount such a corps member would have made if he had sold it locally. Now what if the corps member resides in the north where they don't produce palm oil? A 20litre rubber can be as high as 8k there. So the profit margin will be very great. This is one of the easiest means of making money locally in the rural community. This is good for those that have reserve funds lying in their bank account without being touched. I had given a corps this idea which he tried and decided to take it to kogi state. The last i heard of him was that it was highly patronized especially because of the quality of the oil. I am now telling u that u could as well try it when u get back and see how grateful you'd be to God at the end. I repeat take action! Take action!! Take!!! |

The upcoming africa nations cup in south africa will no doubt be watched by alot of nigerians in different parts of the country. However, in some communities they will not have the luxury to watch the competition as there won't be a viewing centre around. This people might include corps members posted to rural communities. For these corps members, the only option will be to watch in neighbouring communities like we did in the first half of my service year. Then we used to move in droves especially at night to watch champions league matches. There was a sizeable population of football lovers among the indigenes and the corps members. If not for anything, i was ready to cut off the expenses involved in going to other communities. We would pay transport cost of N200 to and from the other community to watch a single view match. This came at a time where the allowee was 9975#. So to be enriching someone 500# everyweek was no joking matter. I was thinking on how to cut down on this expenses and finally came up with an idea. I just rented a shop and mounted a blackboard. The dstv system was bought at N16k then and it was installed for me at 3k. A sizeable 24 inch and a generator was purchased. In just a week I'm in business and as well as satisfying my appetite of watching football. Since it was the summer, there were only friendlies. So I subscribed for the channels and showed u17 and u20 world cup last year. Nigeria participated in both competitions. The u17 world cup in colombia was played in the midnight. At times when nigeria played, i would make 3700# for a single match. Since nigeria progressed to the semifinals, i was able to recover most of the money spent. Though corps members showed no interest in the competition, the patronage from the community was enough to get me started on a high. My idea then was to close the viewing centre after my service year but i decided not to because of the number of people that would be starved of football actions. So i left it and as am writing this piece i watched yesterday's matches there. Although it had become a standard viewing centre and services fans from far far locations. Now what is it that I am trying to put across? If u know that there was no viewing centre in your location, you can go ahead and put in place the facilities needed. You will be suprised that at least u will recover half of your start up capital from the african nations cup, english premier league, la liga. Fa cup and champions league. Aside from that, you are channeling the money you are supposed to spend in other places watching these matches into your pocket. From there you will never know where it could lead you to as it could be a precursor of businesses to come up for you in the future. Take action! Take action!! Take action!!! |
@nne, excel, mercilicious, anomini and a whole lot of posters; your thoughts and comments has changed so much in me. Keep it coming. You're guys are good. |
