Goals and assists are the most expensive commodity in football and he does them aplenty while staying strong defensively On the first day of the season when people were waxing lyrical about Cucu, I remember telling them to chill the hell down. It's almost like people completely forgot Chilly's effectiveness because of the long layoff. |

Sportsweb: Tuchel on Zakaria: "He can play in a back three. He played for Monchengladbach in a back four as a central defender even, he can play in a back three as a defender. He can play both positions in midfield."

What back 3? Can we get the context in which the response was given? I don't want to believe he mentioned back 3 before talking about midfield fit. Tuchel don dry worry me o. Is this how Jorghinho go take style to continue to play? |

I think anything that is a tad stronger than Jorghinho, is press-resistant and had decent pace, comes in already better than Jorghinho.
I am a Jorghinho fan but aware enough to see his limitations and its severe impact on the team. |

Guehi, Livramento, Abraham, Gilmour, Sterling, Odoi, Ampadu, Colwill, Broja, Harvey, Chalobah .....all either actively ignored by TT or sent packing.
You cannot tell me not a single one of these is unable to start for Chelsea as is......it's not as though we are firing on all cylinders.
I swear this is giving me Mourinho vibes.
I am yet to meet a Chelsea fan who does not agree that Gilmour could step in and do a job...and we sell him for freaking £9m? I am so phuuccking angry. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 12:51am On Sep 01, 2022 |
Another stupid error. We could have - and probably should have - bought both Alvarez and Sangare early on in the transfer window before we started throwing stupid money around.
I reckon we could have bought them both at the time for £70m max and our season will be different now.
This has been the most financially irresponsible transfer windows I have ever witnessed in all my life of supporting Chelsea. I really don't know how to defend it.
On top of that, I am devastated that we have installed a regime that has overseen the worst era of youth talent departure from the club. Coincidentally, in the same era we have produced the brightest talents on record.
I am not in the #Tuchelout campaign yet but man I do not like this talent departure vibes, irresponsible spending and inability to see that we have a midfield problem. Those three issues are really killing me. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:40pm On Aug 31, 2022 |
nateevs: I do NOT dislike Lukaku. I just prefer players with a very good first touch. I mean I have to watch Werner every week, and Lukaku's first touch is not worse.
That said, what we spend money on does not come down to what I like or not. It comes down to pure financial sense. And I am sorry, just like it doesn't make any financial sense to buy Kane for £150m at 27, it similarly doesn't make any sense to buy Lukaku at 28 for the money quoted. That's a pure financial error.
The second error will be allowing one of our UK/EU rivals to potentially buy Haaland at £60m next season. We cannot allow that.
The better financial play is present and future-proofing our possibility to secure trophies by securing Haaland in our space and preventing others from having him. With Lukaku, in two years, we will be looking for another striker, while we've allowed potentially by then, the world's most lethal striker to go to say ManU and for a meagre £60m.
The third is that ever so important resale value. Even if Haaland flops after £150m purchase, how bad can it be? If we still could sell Morata for £55m (or there about) after buying him for €60m, then we can get good resale value on Haaland (potentially between 30% and 50% of purchase price), because we will buying at the right age. Unless he breaks his two legs which will be unfortunate. No way we are any such returns on Lukaku.
And if Haaland is a hit, then we would have transformed ourselves for the next decade.
That's why I say the Lukaku ship has sailed. No one is trying to buy him. Let us leave Lukaku to the rest of the world and go concentrate on the better deal.
We are going to get max two seasons of top value from him, while next season Haaland is potentially available at €75m to our domestic and European rivals
EOS. Me I just want to drop this again. You only needed to have seen him play to understand that this guy is devastatingly good. I mentioned at the time that we cannot afford for him to join another team. Unfortunately, we made that error and here we are. |

Just finished the 90 mins. Absolute brilliant game. Yes Leicester were wasteful in the end but Tactical master class by Tuchel, and serious spirit to fight from all the boys - 10 men down, 2-0 up, tackles flying in from Silva, Havertz, RLC, Chalobah...can't name enough.
Talks of Pochettino should die as soon as it reaches the keyboard abeg.
How anybody for get mind dey criticise Reece James after this game, I no understand. And I am sorry TAA is a good player but James be on a different level.
With James, Cucurella, RLC, Fofana and Chilwell....343 and perhaps 352 here to stay.
Overall, I am happy with what I have seen. Fight, mentality, spirit, fitness. And we still have more players to join. Looking forward to the season. |

Just after I posted that, I see the Leicester goal was from a direct mistake by Havertz. But it was just that...a mistake. He put in a serious shift and it looked like he was tired at the point of the error.
Everybody don fall inside their camps dey support their favourites and humiliate others. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 12:46pm On Aug 28, 2022 |
Unlimited22: Even Kai Havertz, maligned as he is, was actually excellent in the second half when we were protecting the lead. Runs, holdup play, winning fouls and not letting the game flow, was involved in the buildup to the second goal.
Bar none, they did well especially in the second half.
Even Before Gallagher foolishly got himself sent off he was a big part of the reason Leicester couldn't get out of their own half. Precisely. I have not seen what Havertz has done wrong. He worked extra to cover ground in the second after the tactical decision to remove Mount..... and Mount was subbed off for tactical solidity in Midfield and defence, whilst still allowing the deployment of wing backs playing with 10 men. RLC made two mistakes - one in the first half for the missed goal, and one in the 2nd half during a counter attack - but the larger part of the game, he was stellar. This is how the coaching team watches the games and some wonder why some players continue to play. |

Some viewers no dey calm down. I remember telling Donstan after the first half that i expected Sterling to deliver in the 2nd and he did.
Impressive performance , but Vardy also helped out with his wastefulness. Walahi I was expecting the first 11 to be sold after the game. I just got to the red card incident. Naive decisions by Connor for two yellows. Based on the reactions here, I thought he was playing rubbish before he got sent off. He wasn't. On the contrary, he was brilliant and it certainly isn't his last game for Chelsea going by his general output before the sending off. |

Couldn't watch the game yesterday. Just watching the full game and damn, sometimes you have to take the reactions in here with a pinch of salt.
15 mins and we've been absolutely top class. I mean everyone.
I am surprised how far back VAR had to come to override the penalty. Wasn't that the same thing we were asking for against Spurs (Havertz incident) and they said it was too far back? |
