Milner scores
Actually, I was trying to state sustaining the attack against a weak Villa side is more likely to keep them from scoring than attempting to protect a slim lead.

The danger with protecting a slim lead against the likes of Villa is that we will not be resolute in either attack or defence. We lose our shape and could end up conceding.

Well, this were my thoughts on this yesterday:

Eventually, no new winger joined. Are we seeing a loanee get recalled anytime soon?
I really want that to be the case. I am already relishing the possibility of T. Hazard or Traore joining.
Knowing Jose though, he has probably lined up some £30m winger for the summer. Mtchheeeww!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 10:43am On Feb 03, 2015
So JM is finally repairing what I called a mistake since the beginning of the season - keeping Andre and Salah. Even though Ibime never stop hurling abuses at me. grin

I do agree, wholeheartedly that we need another CM and another AM but it was clear to see that the wing has been our weakest link season long. Like I previously said, I have not followed Cuadrado but I have now heard too many talk about how good he is for me to start to believe. (Even Thierry Henry on the weekend said Chelsea will be dangerous with Cuadadro and Hazard in the same team).

Bless JM for correcting the mistake. Nateevs vindicated. Get the average guys on their bike. The only thing I didn't feel too good about was the number of players in. Who replaces Salah?

He cost £12m you say yet he's a youth.

Paying much for a youngster is one thing, integrating him into the first team is another.

And believe me brother, the latter demands a hell lot of chutzpah from the gaffer before it happens.
I do not consider buying Zouma at £12m and then playing him "youth integration".
Zouma was bought for that price because he was special. He is a close to the complete article as possible. This is why he comes into a game against City and bosses Aguero, Silva and Milner together.

Youth integration is when you take a player who is no where near the finished goods (but has bags of potential) and expose them to the experience they need 'consistently'

How much would Raphael Varane cost you? Would you call the inclusion of Varane youth integration?

120mins mid week, 90mins every game, I will be surprised if he doesn't go quiet once in a while. I am the first to criticise Oscar but we need to consider the intensity the boys had to hold for 120mins mid-week.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 2:36am On Jan 26, 2015
Who put a gun to his head to keep a weak squad? He will spend the summer making strange decisions and then spend the whole season complaining about those decisions.

He bought Salah, Remy and Luis. They probably have all not played 10 games combined. He spent £37m on those three players. He could have kept Bertrand, T. Hazard and Bamford. It would have made absolutely no difference to the squad as it is now; as the ones he decided to keep have barely played. What's more? He could have saved £37m.

He brought Drogba back. Yes he is a legend but lacks the energy to play the pressing game he desires. So he has to play Costa into the ground. Use Remy, he no gree. Yet he sends Bamford on loan. Bamford is doing very well (as he's always done on loan) and has now scored against 3 PL sides - Sunderland, Liverpool and City.

He kept Schurrle when Greizmann was going to Atl Madrid for peanuts. Now he takes Schurrle out after 40 mins almost every game. He could have spent that £37m on Sanchez.

He spent the summer telling us how Ramires is crucial to the team. Ramires is tosh and he should have sold Ramires on the back of a decent season for good money. Now he barely plays him and no one will buy him for more than £10m.

How did he find himself in a position where he bought/kept so many average players and now he doesn't trust them?

He told us in the summer how he would have failed and that we should blame him if one of Lewis Baker, Dom Solanke and Izzy Brown don't play for England in the future. He's now sent Lewis Baker on loan. The poor boy has not featured for a minute even though he was named in the squad at the start of the season.

There's yet to be a single match Nathan Ake comes on and fails to deliver. He will never play him. Instead he plays Fab, Haz and Costa in a dead rubber CL game and gave 7 mins to RLC. When he could have built a formidable and competitive second team with a combination of solid first team players and a handful of young ones, he spent the entire time playing his first 11 into the ground and miraculously, wants them to walk on the pitch and destroy a league two side. He made 9 changes with a view to giving his first team players a rest. He ended up playing Hazard, Willian and Fab in a high pressured scenario in search of a goal. Mission defeated.

It's his own fault. Every part of it. Unless he can prove to us how someone held a gun to his head to make these decisions.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 8:03pm On Jan 24, 2015
Which kain beauty of FA Cup are we talking about sef? We freaking lost. This is a trend and Chelsea fans would have noticed this. Any time we field our second team, it doesn't matter who the opposition is, Div 1 or Div 5, we will be scrambling in first team players 15 mins to go to salvage a win or secure a replay.

It's JM's fault. His focus is a select 11 who play week in week out. Most of the subs are useless to sustain a Carling Cup run and as such are not good enough as subs in the PL. JM pays little attention to sub players and youth development yet wants these same guys to bail him out in games like these. There's no consistency with the inclusion of young players. Today Ake, tomorrow RLC, then Christensen. Who is the closest youth player to the team? Let that player feature every time. At the start of the season, we were told it was Lewis Baker, Lewis has now been sent on loan.

JM bought Salah when he could have kept T. Hazard, kept Schurrle and Ramires when he could have chosen otherwise. Jeremie Boga will have more effect on the second team than Salah. You cannot apply this sort of management and expect to get a win when you field the second team. It actually pains me to know that he knows this and that is why he keeps Hazard, Fab and Costa on the bench in silly games just in case.

This trend will continue unless things change or JM continues to be JM and plays his first 11 into the ground.
