Ibime: From Gameweek 5 onward, we field the kids abeg.

Wednesday September 17: Schalke (H)
Tuesday September 30: Sporting (A)
Tuesday October 21: Maribor (H)
Wednesday November 5: Maribor (A)
Tuesday November 25: Schalke (A)
Wednesday December 10: Sporting (H)
I hope the whole squad dispel this attitude.
If they don't, we won't be seeing any kids.
Dudes will be trying to get crucial 6 pts in the last 2 games.

We've seen that in the last 3 seasons' group games.

I haf confuse pata pata. I thought it all started with Sailor refuting that the Di Maria signing is desperate and overpriced. Subsequent arguments tried to explain where the overspending and desperation occurred. Now United are coming back to say our views are wrong but accepting at the same time that there has been overspending. Proper confusion.

Nihilist: Na true na?

I don't really support people telling us we can or cannot talk about.
The way I see it, this is a thread that enables Chelsea fans find and interact with each other on whatever topic they see fit.
Restricting chatter to strictly Chelsea or football related topics is just silly, as those are very limited subject matters...unless Mithel wants us to start speculating on the colour of Ivanovic's pant once gist don finish... grin
Spot on. . .

SailorXY: if you want to look at it this way, then nobody is worth above 40m except Messi & Ronaldo. the Zidanes, Toress, Figos of this world were all scams.
funny its not all about the goals now, right?
how much is Hazard worth? place him side by side with Bale & draw up a fair conclusion grin

£59.7m is what United are paying for di Maria by the way kiss
You keep missing the point. There is a point where it's clear to all and sundry that there's been an overpayment for goods or services. United have had a transfer spend of over £140m this summer alone. To put things in perspective, Chelsea haven't had that sort of spend since summer of 2004/05.

Now when you consider that you actually haven't finished the spending; and then that even after the spending, you still are not within grasp of the league title, perhaps you begin to understand where I am coming from.

Did you ever criticise Chelsea's spendings in the past?

SailorXY: Bale had 40 goals last season? shocked
No he didn't. He can't. Because he isn't worth £86m.
You get the point now?

SailorXY: i'm not trying to convince you, time will cool cool cool
Dude will need to score 40 goals a season, every season, for the length of his contract, to justify the fee.
Time will do phuck all.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 7:13pm On Aug 25, 2014
SailorXY: there's nothing desperate about signing di Maria. if an opportunity opens up to snap up a world class talent who's willing, then why not? with United's recent position (being out of Europe), its also a lure to get other world class players & show you still harbor big ambitions while going through a phase. his DM-7 shirt sales will easily exceed £100m! besides, he easily tick the box for pace & creativity driving forward from deep: something United sorely lacked against Sunderland.
So this dude has been told he's surplus to requirements. He isn't needed at Madrid. He hands in a transfer request. There are no report of other bids. Then you guys manage to part with over £60m despite the circumstances yet somehow you are trying to convince us this is no a desperate signing.

There is no way this is possible under the current circumstances.

xp17: Oga, Ramires is one of the few players you don't need to remove in other to change your game plan. just switch is position, and everything would be normalized. shekina!
What exactly will be normalised?

The passing? Ramires is awful passer.
Controlling the game? Well he needs to be able to pass for that to happen?
Link play? He doesn't even understand link play.

How many more Chelsea fans are going to continue to talk about what Ramires does without saying exactly what he does?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 7:23pm On Aug 21, 2014
xp17: how is he a bad buy?
@nateevs,
keep your money, becos Ramires is going no where. Ramires, is what I call SUV. the only position he can't play effective is a goalie position, everyother positions he can play wella.
Mate abeg take back seat. Not many people will take you seriously when you begin to use the word 'effectively' with any position Ramires plays.

I do not like seeing Oscar playing on the wings. That's for Willian/Schurrle and when we are not very serious about winning, Salah. Plus Willian in midfield in a 4-3-3?

Only 60 points so far mate. Two errors. Assuming Filipe will play and not following through and making Fab my captain.

I hereby withdraw every inhumane comment I made about him and his form.

2. play Azpilicueta at LB when he wants to.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 2:25pm On Aug 18, 2014
coogar: that depends on the number of minutes & the number of set plays they take. what's the biggie in creating 50 chances?
Perhaps we should check Willian's minutes and compare them to Hazard's then. Since it seems so easy to create chances. Perhaps for once we can know exactly what average and inconsistent really are.

Compared with other mid-fielders in the PL, Hazard doesn't even take set plays.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 1:58pm On Aug 18, 2014
Insight guys, insight.

Schurrle is a 15 goals a season player max and solid defensively. Hazard is explosive raw potential, one if harnessed and managed properly can make easily a 20 goals plus, 20 assists plus payer. Hazard is the sort you consider, future WPOTY. Whether he gets there is up for debate.

Hazard is the only player in the PL that is marked out by 3 players constantly. Even United did it. No other Chelsea players gets this much attention. Someone calling Hazard average. He's 23. To put things in perspective, he's only 6 months older than Gael Kakuta.

@Lalaboi

You cannot call Hazard's assist numbers average when you argue we played without a strong strike-force last season. If our strike force scored only a third of the chances creates by Hazard, he will be close to 20 assists. I bet no one will be calling Hazard average then. Only those ball-watching claim Hazard is coming in and out. I am not saying Hazard has reached the level of performance desired of him, he is definitely far from average. Perhaps you all are expecting him to peak by now, that's a different debate. Opta stats attached for you. Nobody (considering being only in their second PL season) tops these stats charts by being average. How do you explain someone who creates 92 chances in the whole season as inconsistent?

In the other question, can Schurrle, Wilian and Salah create 50 chances?

We all want Hazard's number to increase. Especially goals. But bear in mind that if Hazard's creativity increases, it will be taking him into genius category at age 24. How then can we be arguing at the same time that this same player is not crucial to Chelsea?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 10:20am On Aug 18, 2014
Ibime: Corrected!

Injury to Hazard will not slow us down even if he breaks his leg tomorrow. We have more than enough width in the team. If you ask me sef, I prefer Schurrle in certain games, depending on the strength of the opposition.

Infact when he got injured last season, we did alright, it was when he returned from that we lost the UCL and the league.
Wrong about Hazard. We lost the UCL last season because Hazard got injured in the first 10mins of the first leg and was clearly unfit to play in the second leg. In the league, we weren't doing fine without him. Without his 14 goals and 7 assists, we will be even further away.

No single player in the Chelsea squad can come near what Hazard brings to the table. Hazard is the only player in the squad that can play in the hole and on either flank without breaking consistency of output. Without Hazard, what we have in the team is unproductive width; with ninjas like Willian scoring only 4 goals in the league season long and the likes of Salah who hasn't received the memo of when to shoot/pass. Even before the season starts, I can confidently tell you that Hazard, if played, will be involved in over 70% of Costa goals.

If Hazard is out, we could quite easily be ordinary in attack.

We still need to wait and see what Fab brings in a 'Mourinho Chelsea'. We all hope Fab blends right in and becomes an integral part of the jig-saw however something keeps telling me Chelsea could never have been Fab's first choice and that there's some fighting ahead.

It's easy to call upon history but JM doesn't play like Barca and Arsenal. Likewise Fab isn't used to playing with the likes of Ramires. It's counter-attack, it's direct and many times boring and annoying football. It's mental hard-work and no one knows if Fab is caught out for this style of football. If Hazard complained about the style of football after our UCL exit last season, I can't see why Fab wouldn't if it gets really bad. Over a season, things change quickly. Therefore it's too early to predict that Fab out means Chelsea out.

In my opinion, the only two players that have irreplaceable output are Hazard and Costa. Everyone else, with a degree of change to the tactics, is replaceable.
