One of the conditions of Cortouis signing was that he would be loaned to Anderletch after the signing. Anderletch were going to back out of the deal because they did want to strengthen their rivals. So Chelsea agreed to pay the full amount and loan to A. Madrid. Hilario has one year left on his contract and Turnbull was a occupying a home grown quota. Thibault was never signed for the first team.

Chelsea tried to negotiate a lower signing fee with Anderletch for the signing of Lukaku by loaning him back to them for a year. Anderletch rejected the deal. Chelsea later agreed to pay the full amount. Lukaku was on the verge of joining Stoke on loan when the FA stipulated that he could not play for 3 teams within the same year. So Lukaku had to stay and Kakuta went out on loan instead to make up the numbers. He was never signed for the first team.

So AVB signed Mata for £23m and Meriles for £12.

Lukaku and Courtois were signings by the scouting network. Two of them along with Kevin Bryune have all been scouted long before Carllotti was fired.

Meireles is a player AVB sold as soon as he arrived to manage Porto. Chelsea chased Modric, Kevin De Bryune and Alvaro Perriera to the last minute. Meireles was a player brought in at 11pm on deadline day, because Chelsea could not secure it's primary targets.

To be honest Torres was decent today. Almost scored a goal. Well . . almost again. AVB is sticking to a 4-3-3 except he is trying to play with inverted wingers like he did at Porto. There is a lot of pressing and the very scary part, playing with a high defensive line, which I think could bite him in the arse when it comes to the real PL games.

He is not doing any much tweaking to the set-up. A little bit of change in the set-up in attack and in defence. 4-2-3-1 was how we lined up today. The flow of play and tempo is important. I think this is because other players are likely to join. I see Romeu may be a big part of the season. If rumours are to be believed, Roman is dropping the cash for Pastore and Modric.  Yes! Both of them. That, my friend, could be a totally different midfield.

I am also looking forward to what he can do with Kakuta when he returns as well as Lucas Piazon in January.
