PDPGuy: Haha
The methods would involve a constitutional amendment. Unfortunately for him and his supporters, Republicans do not constitute 2/3 of Congress (as they only have 53 senators, and 219 Representatives). Neither do they constitute 3/4 of the state legislatures.. And I said long ago, when the time comes, he would just not leave. It will be "screw the constitution"......And there will be nothing, absolutely nothing that anyone can do about it. All the apparatus set up to disarm him and this insane move have been completely monopolised. And this is what made him dangerous from the outset. There is no part of all this that I did not predict correctly. The fact that this was not general consensus, still alarms the hell out of me. |

bemeruca: Russia is using North Koreans as well, their population is more than Ukraine, they have better hardware assets than Ukraine.
They are dying so is Ukrainians.
At some point they cannot conscript anyone. A whole generation is gone in Ukraine.
Unless the EU wants to put men on the battle field, give Ukraine adequate supply of weapons this is just a waste of time.
At some point if you have hardware and not enough men it is a waste of time as well. He asked a valid question. How many Russians should die before Putin pulls out? Russia started out the invasion with 200,000 some men amassed at the border. Now they have North Koreans at the front. Is anyone talking about Putin's slaughter of his own people? |

Food for thought. Laurene Jobs The Atlantic praised the Signal app. Let's not cross lanes sir. I only deviated to talk about the legality of what Atlantic could and couldn't do. Everything about Waltz, Hegseth, Rubio......to Gabbard, Vance, and Ratcliffe on this matter is absolutely horrendously stupid. It would be a right script for a comedy show, if it wasn't inherently dangerous. War plans on Signal? Come on mate! |

budaatum: Why or how is he aware his invite was an error when he didn't even know if the group he was invited to was legit or a spoof?
And why does he not have the right to read what he received when he thought it was a spoof and didn't come with a warning that it was classified, which he wouldn't even know if it was unless he read it?
As to admitting whether he did read it, I think we know the answer to that. In fact, not only did he read it, he has provided extracts for you to read too. So by your reckoning, you and I and the entire world risk imprisonment, lol. Unless you are one of those lucky or savvy ones who covered your eyes to what he published so you couldn't read it.
He is a journalist. He can't not be curious. Let's not forget the premise of my assessment. The conversation was not carried out in a SCIF. And considering this is a high-profile meeting of the 6 most-senior national security officials in the country and more, a file of two were shared about the war plans. The premise of my conclusions is based entirely on this. If any files were shared on the app, they would have been clearly marked minium, TOP- SECRET. If such files were in there and reporter goes on to read them, he can never admit that he did. If he does, he has no security clearance to do so, and it would become a crime. That's how it works. Look at the publication from Jeffery Golberg himself. The title alone gives away the fact that he became aware at some point that he was added erroneously. And also, very crucially, he removed himself from the group. This is consciousness of the situation. His story is beautifully written. He feigned not knowing it was real until he saw reports of the bombings on X. It's good legal cover. But as a senior reporter, he knew that if he continued to stay on the group, he would be in breach of the Espionage Act. And so he removed himself, despite being accidentally added. He declined to publish the name of an active CIA operative on the group. He also declined quoting from certain texts messages from Pete Hegseth, because of the classification of the information, and potential endangerment of American Military Operations. He did so because, again, he became aware, and if he did publish, that would be a crime. To be honest, you and I are on the same side of this argument. We are being side tracked by this nuance of right and wrong. It's not necessary. Let's fall back to the MAGAbots responsible for/defending this atrocious security breach.

budaatum: I don't think this is correct.
He did not "inadvertently stumble". He was invited to a group in which it was shared with him, and he has every right to read it. Besides, he's already posted some if it, which he could not have done if he hadn't seen or never read it.
Nevertheless, I can't see what crime he has commited, but I don't trust maga not to want to prosecute him. They'd fail to find him guilty though, in my opinion, and would just be making more of a mockery of themselves if they expect him, a journalist, to cover his eyes and not see what he was sent. It's how the Espionage Act works actually. And it comes down to security clearance. In the world of Intelligence, never mind the MAGAbots, procedure applies when clearing an individual to handle confidential information. . All these folks who work around government and media understand the basics of this. Therefore, regardless of being invited to the chat, in the world of the NSA, that doesn't equate to security clearance. The reporter is very well aware that said invitation is erroneous, and consequently must treat everything handled as classified. He will have to answer the question, did you or did you not know that your invitation was an error? And that's where everything falls apart. No, he does not have every right to read it. He may, but he can never admit that he did. If he does, he risks imprisonment.

GloriousGbola: but you have to ask yourself who else has compromised the phones of all these jokers? this is unlikely to be the only group
what this journalist did was actually a stealth act of patriotism because if he is in the group, anyone can be in any of the groups. these guys are not vetted, they are amateurs, they were picked for their ability to kiss trumps arse.
right now for all we know multiple plans are already in the hands of America's adversaries
by reporting this, this man has let everyone know there is a compromised system.
unfortunately, since this is maga, and since soldiers that get killed are losers and suckers and it is wimps that get captured there may be no course correction Thank you sir. No one of us cannot comprehend the scale of the sophistication security hackers (US and rival states) can infiltrate common devices and platforms; and then unleashing serious shit. You can bet that this is not the first time they've done this, and by extension, if rival security agencies know this, then they have all the information ever shared, including this last one. Trump's Middle East adviser was in Moscow during one of the rounds of this last discussion. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by nateevs(m): 11:52pm On Mar 25, 2025 |
budaatum: Actually, he didn't just "handled classified information". He was handed classified information that he shouldn't have been handed by those who shouldn't have handed it to him. So he can't be prosecuted because he did nothing wrong.
And the reason he is not divulging what he was handed is so as not to compromise the security of some and America, which is patriotic of him, unlike the idiots who just handed classified information to him. This is my assessment. As far as receiving classified information (which incidentally landed on his lap), he's done nothing wrong. However, he cannot openly admit to have parsed or fully read classified information. These are the top heads of all the security apparatus in the country. This is also a top-level operation being discussed ..... so we can expect that a file or two were shared because the whole briefing was not done in a SCIF. Said files would have been marked TOP SECRET. The reporter, despite inadvertently stumbling on said files, cannot openly admit to have seen them or read them. That would be a crime, for which he can be prosecuted. So these fools can turn around and claim no CI was shared, knowing fully well that the news agency's legal department ran through that report 100 times, and cleared it for no potential legal peril, before publishing, and will say publicly that they read no such information. |

Roland17: Exactly! Thank you for making my point!!!
The Trump administration did not share details of type of weapons to be used, targets, sequence of attacks and other specific details because they are sensitive military intelligence, classified or not. Problem is, it leaked into the hands of a civilian and that is a problem. There is a reason
Just admit the leak, review your process/ systems and move on! Funny enough, I think those details were shared. The reporter just cannot publish awareness of such information because he would admitting to having handled classified information, for which he has no SC and consequently, could be prosecuted. And therefore these incompetent fools are hiding behind the safety of this event. |

Roland17: Stop allowing your support for Trump becloud your sense of reasoning over something as simple as this. They literally just told the world the timing for military strikes, our negotiation approach with Europe and Egypt and you are here trying to trivialize it. If this happened under Joe, you would be all over the place. The fact that you have to spell this out is everything wrong with this lot. In normal climes (shame that we now have to exclude America from this description), heads would be rolling for the blatant potential endangerment of US Military lives and equipment. But hey, it's just another normal day in their world. |

bemeruca: What's the Classified information that was shared? The guy who broke this news is tied to so many made-up hoaxes about the trump administration. Look him up. If there is any top-secret stuff that was discussed, this guy would have published it. He is the same guy that lied that trump called fallen soldiers losers and suckers.
It's just a normal discussion. The only problem here is that they are not using a platform that can keep records since the records would be government property. the other eff up is they added the sucker (who lied trump said it does not cost 60k to bury a effing Mexican) Now if you were looking for the proper definition of Derangement, this, right here is Derangement. |
