Crime / The Difference Between Educated Police And SARS Men - PHOTOS by Natural441(m): 10:15pm On Oct 07, 2020 |
As the protest against SARS brutality is getting hot, it's necessary to differentiate men of SARS and police. Yes it is true that SARS is a department in Nigerian Police force but their mode of operation widely differs. In the space of the last 3 months men of SARS have made headlines in many newspapers in Nigeria over their cruel mode of operation. These men operate like illiterates, they're very quick to loose temper and before you know it crime has been committed. It's very important that these set of people are thoroughly educated on importance of human lives, in other civilized countries forces are used to maintain peace in the society while the military are for war but reserve is the case here. 1 Like

Business / Nigerian Banks Issue N3.3 Trillion In New Loans In June 2020 by Natural441(m): 4:42pm On Jul 21, 2020 |
Nigerian Banks increased their total loans to the Nigerian economy by N3.3 trillion in June 2020. This is according to information contained in the monetary policy communique of the central bank read out on Monday by the governor, Godwin Emefiele. According to Mr. Emefiele, bank aggregate domestic credit grew by 5.6% in June 2020 compared with 7.7% growth recorded in the month of May 2020. This resulted in a total increase in gross credit from N15.56 trillion in May to N18.9 trillion as at end of June 2020. The CBN attributes the increase to its Loan to Deposit Ratio initiative, a policy that forces banks to lend at least 65% of its deposits. “Aggregate domestic credit (net) grew by 5.16 per cent in June 2020 compared with 7.47 per cent in May 2020. The Committee commended the CBN Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) initiative to address the credit conundrum as the total gross credit increased by N3.33 trillion from N15.56 trillion at end-May 2019 to N18.90 trillion at end-June 2020. Emefiele. Who they lent to The MPC reveals most of the loans went to the manufacturing, consumer credit, general commerce, information & communication and agriculture sectors. The CBN favours credit deployment to these sectors which it considers productive. Data from the financial sector reveals most of the banking sector credit goes to the Oil and Gas sectors with the productive sectors (as defined by the CBN) falling behind. Commercial Banks have been hesitant to lend to these sectors due to its high rate of non-performing loans. Banks recorded an aggregative non-performing loans (specific provisions) of 6.5% as at December 2019. Sectors like the Agriculture sector saw their non- performing loans spike by over 40% last year. Construction and Educational sector also recorded significant spike in non-performing loans in 2019 compared to 2018. In general total non performing loans dropped from N1.78 trillion in 2018 to just over one trillion in 2019. A recent research report by Fitch, seen by Nairametrics forecast a slower loan growth in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However it does predict banks will lend more in 2021. “The weaker economy and lockdown rules will weigh heavily on client loan growth as demand for credit is hurt by consumer and business uncertainty. We expect client loan growth will decline to 2.5% in 2020 from 14.0% in 2019. However, we forecast growth of 4.3% in 2021 as the economy begins to recover” it reported.

Health / CORONAVIRUS: Oxford Vaccine Early-stage Clinical Trials Was Successful. by Natural441(m): 4:32pm On Jul 21, 2020 |
CORONAVIRUS Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine may be mass produced in 2020 The vaccine produced an immune response in early-stage clinical trials with no major side effect. The lead developer for the University of Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine, Sarah Gilbert, has revealed that the vaccine could be rolled out by the end of the year but there is no certainty. The Oxford experimental vaccine which is done in collaboration with AstraZeneca produced an immune response in early-stage clinical trials with no major side effect, according to data that was displayed on Monday. This development provides the hope that it could be in use before the end of the year. According to report from Reuters, Sarah Gilbert in her discussion with BBC Radio said, ‘’The end of the year target for getting vaccine rollout, it’s a possibility but there’s absolutely no certainty about that because we need three things to happen.” Sarah Gilbert pointed out that it needed to be shown to work at the late-stage trials, there needed to be large quantities manufactured and regulators had to agree quickly to license it for emergency use.

The trials also showed protective neutralization of antibodies and immune t-cells aimed at the virus. Oxford’s Chief of Jenner Institute, Adrian Hill, said the research has recorded good immune system responses with no serious side effect. The Oxford scientists are hoping that 1 million doses of the potential COVID-19 vaccine would be produced by September this year. Although the agreement had been reached with AstraZeneca for the manufacturing of the vaccine, the lower prevalence of the novel coronavirus in Britain has complicated the process of proving its efficacy. Health / Covid-19: UK Secures Deals To Supply 90 Million Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine From by Natural441(m): 3:54pm On Jul 20, 2020 |
CORONAVIRUS: UK secures deal to supply 90 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer, others The UK government has announced that it has secured deals for 90 million doses of 2 possible COVID-19 vaccines from the collaboration of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech, and French group Valneva. The Business Ministry said that UK has secured 30 million doses of the experimental BioNtech/Pfizer vaccine and a deal in principle for 60 million doses of the Valveva vaccine, with an option of 40 million more doses if it was proven to be safe, effective and suitable. UK now has 3 different types of vaccine under development with a total of 230 million doses possibly available, although no working vaccine against COVID-19 has been fully developed yet. The UK Business Minister, Alok Sharma said that UK would now have access to 3 different types of vaccines being developed domestically and around the world and it had also launched a website for volunteers to sign up for vaccine studies. Alok Sharma said, ‘’This new partnership with some of the world’s foremost pharmaceutical and vaccine companies will ensure the UK has the best chance possible of securing a vaccine that protects those most at risk.’’ Sharma also pointed out that the race to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus disease is a global endeavor and UK government is doing everything it can to ensure the British public get access to a safe and effective coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible. This new set of deals is coming on the heels of previously announced agreement with AstraZeneca (AZN.L) for the firm to produce 100 million doses of its potential vaccine which is being developed in partnership with the University of Oxford. Britain said it was the first to get into such deal which Pfizer and BioNTech. The firms had agreed to supply the vaccine, which is being tested in early to mid-stage trials. The firms are aiming to make up to 100 million doses by the end of this year and potentially more than 1.2 billion doses by end of 2021, if the vaccine is successful
