GeneralOuki: They literally did. After the war They rebuilt their infrastructures all by themselves except for the niger bridge. I'm talking about schools, airports, buildings and all, and they did it after losing everything they had in the Bank and only getting £20 from the government. Today they're the region with the least poverty while the north which never experienced any form of war is leading in poverty percentage.
So yeah the Igbo should pat themselves on the back, they've done well despite the country's best efforts to keep them down. Tell am, he probably doesn't know the story... It sounds strange to them to hear that people did things themselves without waiting for the government.. |

Basic123: They worship money. Respect and reference depends on how rich you are. So they can do anything to have it.Even if its by packaging fake drugs, fake drinks ,pushing drugs etc to have it. An average person will rather do that than beg! I already knew someone would respond this under my comment. A poor man will always see a rich man as a ritualist or fraudster. If you were doing well for yourself bro, u wouldn't have seen the word hustle in the negative light. The reason the SE states are up there is coz of their non dependence on government for anything. Growing up in my village in imo, we were trained to never expect anything from anyone, not even the government. U go-to Hussle your way to anything. my people did everything by their selves, be it transformer, water, health centre even up to the up to the imo airport. |

nairalanda1: Yeah it is hard. And yeah, I blame IBB for not removing fuel subsides in 1993. Instead government and even the then opposition went on propaganda campaign saying IMF dey oppress us.
By 1993, we were refining 400000 bpd in 4 refineries. At the time, the experts could see that we won't be able to refine crude with a subsidy in place. It HAD TO GO. But we refused to listen. The result was that by 1994, because it was becoming difficult to pay subsides and pay for production and maintenance costs at the same time, government chose to pay for subsides, and stopped paying for maintenance costs.
Results...no TAM for over 10 years. By the time GEJ tried to award contract for TAM In 2012, it was too late (Yeah, I heard GEJ awared the contract to a funny company, but even if he had awarded it to a INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED COMPANY with a TRACK RECORD OF 2000 YEARS xperience, you can't fix 10 or more years of neglect.
I mean, one American pastor once bought a new car and drove it sparingly, without maintenance, for several years. Even parked it for long periods of time. By the time he took the car for maintenance, after not driving it for over a year, it was scrap.
Same thing with our refineries...by 2012 they wer eproducing 91000 bpd...less than 10% of our refining needs....and we were importing most fuel and subsidsing it.
GEJ tried to remove subsidy, most nigerians, INCLUDING HIS SUPPORTERS...SAID NO.
BY 2019, refinereis were down to refining 6000 bpd. Yet, most nigerians refused to remove subsidy...By now, we had been using loans to pay for subsides for over ten years, and it got worse...to the point that by 2022, we were out of money, and debt was eating most of the government revenue, and Buhari was printing money to pay for subsides
So here we are. If you supported subsidy , then you are to blame. Forget politics, forget tinubu...who also supported subsidy until IMF essentially forced him to remove it...forget gej forget obi.
We could have had 4 working NNPC refineries, and a host of private refineries IF SUBSIDY HAD GONE IN 1993. So we have to shift the blame back to 1993? Nice one |

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed banks to restrict access to certain banking services for large-ticket borrowers with non-performing loans, as part of efforts to safeguard financial system stability and strengthen credit discipline.]
According to the apex bank, large-ticket obligors include borrowers whose combined exposure across banks exceeds the Single Obligor Limit and whose obligations materially affect a bank’s Capital Adequacy Ratio or otherwise pose systemic risks to the financial system. Bro I tire o |
