Thanks a lot for your feedback. I appreciate. salford1: I don't know much about the telecoms industry, but I know utility is good especially on the operations and maintenance side of the business. Pursue your PEng first if you have an Engineering degree, that will be your natural path. If you have an Ond/Hnd, or you are thinking of changing career path, then the technician/technologist route is what you should aim for. Some companies not controlled by unions wouldn't also mind filling a technologist position with a candidate having an Engineering degree (added advantage). If you check indeed, such companies would ask for a degree or a diploma in the job posting. (see attached pics below for 2 different postings-elect and civil). Techs and tech positions are often well remunerated too, and it's not uncommon for them to move up to senior leadership.
As per techs having more job job openings, It's the way the industry is structured. It's like a pyramid with the engr at the top, the technologist at the middle and the technicians at the base. The pyramid is narrow at the top and wide at the base. As a result, technicians (tradespeople) would be more in demand.
Goodluck. |

Hello Salford1, I have my PPR approved and Intend to move next year. Am an Engr and I worked with PHCN for 5 years before moving into the telecoms industry. However, I have been doing more of the telecom infrastructure support work. From my research here and on some websites, there has been this picture being painted that things may be better for technicians in Canada than the Engrs. Somebody here mentioned there are many technicians, then technologists who are being supervised by the engineer so more technicians and technologists get employed than Engrs. What is your take on this? Can you share a personal experience salford1: i had deficiencies of 4 courses, so i was given option to take courses and exams from a list of schools. i was then assigned FE exam.
If you dont have deficiencies, and you have 4 years of work experience...your applications can be approved straight away, then you become an EIT...
if you have at least four years of engineering work experience, including one year of engineering work experience gained in Canada under the supervision of a PEng/PGeo...then you become a PEng/PGeo too.
Unfortunately, i dont know any geo around me. i work in the Electrical Industry (Utility). The two Geo i know. One returned to Nigeria to continue his employment (mobil), and the other moved to materials testing (Soil, concrete, asphalt -Civil), but I have come across profiles of Nigerian P.geologist on LinkedIn. Dont limit your networkimg to Nigerians alone.
1. If you have many years of documented work experience, all you would need to sit for is the law and ethics exam plus one year supervised training.
2. Yes..the 4 years count. But you still need one year Canadian experience without which you wont get the PGeo. This is the stage you need to network massively with people in your field, especially those working for smaller engineering or consulting firms since they have less bureaucracy in their recruitment process. |

Good evening Guys. Please I have a little issue and I need to confirm if anybody has had similar experience. I urgently need advice on how it was resolved. In our PPR approval mail, we were asked to send our passport to New Delhi instead of Accra for COPR. Please, has anybody had similar issue and how was it resolved? Kindly assist a brother in need.

IT'S PPR Guys.
Below is our timeline.
Family of 5 CSR - 456 ITA - June 25 AOR - Sept 12 MEP/BIL - Oct 9 Biometrics Done - Oct 16 PPR - Nove 9
I don't know where to start but I will thank God first for today. All praise belong to him. I will thank all the guys here especially those who make out time to share information on the platform. I learnt a lot here. I was encouraged by other people's struggles and stories. I also got the link that helped with our major breakthrough in the journey here. I will not say am a silent reader but when I applied to be an elder Newmum0615, Macstan, Tojued and co did not consider me. How can Newmum0615 who is my junior in Engineering faculty in UNIZIK be an elder and I will not be an elder....lol. Thanks a lot guys. The company I enjoyed here throughout the journey has been superb.
Around April last year when we thought of this journey, I was not sure we will get enough points to get ITA so we wanted to go through the study route. It was at that point that I joined Nairaland study group. I convinced my wife to take IELTS which she did and did well and we applied to a school in Nova Scotia and got admission but later my brother who lives in Canada got his PR and the prospect of getting extra 15 points shifted our attention to EE again. We took IELTS (General) together and my wife cleared the thing. She has B.A in English sha. Along the line I also confirmed from the contact I got in NTI Kaduna that people have successfully validated their PGDE with WES and that finally changed the story.
For POF we used a joint account. We also had my PFA account statement but to avoid stories that touch the heart, the money we had in the joint account covered the basic POF needed. The PFA account was just added as extra.
The major challenge we had was hussle for 2 or more certificates. That is where I will always be grateful to Nairaland. I came here and asked if anybody had evaluated the PGDE from NTI. The first time nobody responded but when I asked again, a good friend here gave me a contact tin NTI, Kaduna. Prior to that, we went to their office in the city we live and applied for the transcript but the man there did not look like somebody that knows what he is doing. We applied in December, 2017 and till about February, 2018 the request had not been sent and there was no guarantee it will be pushed. This necessitated my question here for clue which finally paid off.
For those that are still in the journey, my advise is that you should persevere. We had our moments of doubt. We spent money to get things done but at the end success makes you forget what you went through.
ALWAYS FOCUS ON THE GOAL. FORGET ALL DISTRACTIONS AND DON'T BE DISCOURAGED. |

Afffidavit of change of name, Marriage certificate & LOE will take care of this issue. It is not a big deal. Most married ladies have same scenario. Sthill5: I have the exact same issue.
I was recuperating from surgery when my husband processed my daughter's birth certificate. They used his surname even when he told them im yet to change my name..every single document of mine is in my father's name. My plan is to leave it like that. I don't think it's a big deal |

@ ChandlerBing: I agree with you that this should be kept out of public fora to avoid undermining most documents coming from Nigeria. However, the aspect of looser and under achiever is what I don't agree to. We do a lot of things without even knowing what the implications may be later. because we don't have many things to fall back on in the country, most of us work on what we can get now without thinking of tomorrow. That is because of the environment we have found ourselves but I will advise anybody that has this issue of discrepancy in DOB to find solutions to it on his own. It does not make you a looser or an under achiever. The circumstances differ and solutions will differ too. The truth is that you will not get a solution from this forum. That is my own personal opinion. ChandlerBing: All these fake age questions should stop please. Did you consult us before you falsified your age? Leave us all out of it and sort out your own mess.
You people are bringing undue scrutiny to Nigerians. Making a mockery of sworn affidavits and NPC birth declarations.
Personally, I believe everybody who has ever had a cause to lie about or to conceal their age is an underachiever and quite frankly a looser. |

FROM THE CABLE NEWS
Muhammad Babandede, the new comptroller-general of the Nigeria immigration service (NIS), says he has authorised state commands to replace lost passports, and also commence change of name due to marriage.
Both exercises were hitherto done in Abuja.
Babandede also pledged to decentralise and eliminate corruption at all passport offices in the country, saying reorganisation of the passport offices, was part of the sweeping reforms that has been embarked on by his administration.
The immigration boss disclosed this at a programme in Abuja on Thursday.
“Approval for replacement of lost passports shall henceforth be given by state comptrollers after online vetting and processing of application at the Passport Division in the Service’s headquarters,” he said.
“The minister of interior, Rtd Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau has tasked me to embark on this reform.
“We have taken stock of previous reforms, so what we are doing now is to decentralise the process, so that everybody does not need to come to Abuja for their passport.
“You know this creates tension in the system and even encourages corruption because of the pressure.”
The Immigration boss said that as part of efforts to root out corruption at passport offices, the official fees/categories of passports will henceforth be displayed at various passport offices to ensure transparency.
According to him, the 64 page e-passport still costs N20,000, 32 page booklet costs N15,000 (18-60 years) while those below 18 years and above 60 years cost N8, 750.
He urged Nigerians to insist on paying the official fees at the designated passport offices or pay online at the official immigration website to avoid exploitation by touts and agents.
Babandede said the NIS was also working to ensure availability of all categories of passport booklets, especially the 32 page booklet which is always in high demand “to avoid any confusion”.
He said additional passport offices will also be opened in state commands where the existing passport office is getting overwhelmed with demand to ensure efficient service delivery. |

The advise I've always seen here in such cases is that you use one and same person affidavit. I also have something similar to your wife's problem and I raised a one and only person affidavit based on advise I got here and also did a confirmation of name advert in a national daily. You can explore those options. Trunky: Good day all. Please I will need advise on the precarious situation of mine. Wifey''s middle name has a mix up if the letters 'a' and 'e' in some of her documents, that is her WAEC and Bachelors degree certificate carries "Osaremen" as her middle name whereas her international passport, BVN, and most of her post graduation certificate carries "Oseremen" as her middle name. We are about to pay for her IELTS exams and WES credentials evaluation and we are very wary of the approach to take for this mixup so that it doesn't blow in our faces at the end of the day. Please gurus in the house who are familiar with such situattion, we need your advice. Thanks |

You can buy the T/Bills before submitting your application and getting AOR. Purchasing the T/Bills may help you prove you are keeping the money long term. However, you still need to do a gift deed and also include an LOE that will explain how you got the money. It's about explaining how you got the bulk sum to the VO. mosky47: Hi everyone,
I'm using a gift deed as a large part of my POF. I've read here that one can use Treasury bills certificate as POF.
I plan to use the money (including the gift deed) to purchase treasury bills. I don't have a problem with getting bank statements as well.
My questions:
1. Can this be done after submitting my application and getting AOR? Or would it raise eyebrows if updated POF is required as ADR?
2. If I do it before submitting my application, is it going to be a problem?
Anyone with experiences on this?
As has been noted recently, we only hear testimonies but don't get to hear news of rejections, so we can avoid such mistakes that led to the rejection.
I will appreciate responses. |

If you sell sonmething to raise money, it is better you provide evidence of ownership of that thing and evidence it was sold with an LOE of course. A lot of people have done that and successfully got their PPR. bests: Thanks for the insight... Pls, if selling an asset... Do i still need a gift deed and/or letter of explanation? |

Let us check these information before we post please. Some people make use of what they get here 100%. JohnDoe89: You need your POF as soon as your get your AOR. However, you will need to prove that the fund are yours and not borrowed. Since they ask for the prior 6-month statements, they will see if the minimum required funds have been added in on lump sum. You will need to prove the origins of the funds if you are in that situation. You should check this link on how you can prove origin: https://www.justforcanada.com/settlement-funds.html |

Please note that an agent will do basically nothing for you. You will gain all knowledge you need to get your application approved here, through the CIC web page and by looking up information in google. A very minimal part of that N700,000 can buy you consultation time with Mark Holthe or any other good immigration lawyer if you have need for that. What we have in Nigeria here are just people taking advantage of desperate people to make money. Ebalu953: Please I just started the process. Do I need an agent to apply? Agent asking for 700,000. I don't have such. What are the first steps? And does myself and hubby need to evaluate out results? I have a master s degree. He has a bachelor s (3rd class) |

Why will this be a problem here? So all the big men here that work in banks cannot give us reliable information. If I hear anybody here again say he is a banker, I will invite Daura DSS for am. Anyways, I feel the feedback below makes sense. My reference letter was just dry. The bank only confirmed I have an account with them and stated the date it was opened. When I asked them to state the balance in the account, they told me to attach the statement given to me that they don't give out somebody's account balance to anybody. JiggyFighter: Never heard of this. In fact whenever I've applied for visas I've always used regular statements and I've gotten the visas all the time. As a matter of fact I move money around anyhow after applying and it has never been an issue. And yes even if you apply it doesn't mean you agree for your bank to give information to people on your behalf. What a bank can confirm is that they genuinely gave you the letter you submitted. They can confirm the existence of the account or that they truly gave a letter and it wasn't forged or that the information on the letter they provided was accurate. But for them to be providing details of your account activity to anybody is unheard of. Doesn't make a difference to me personally but if it's true then I'll be very surprised. Maybe somebody working in a bank can offer inside information. |
