Thanks guys for the quick reply. I would like to clarify that I am not using a modem per say. My laptop the lenovo thinkpad x260 comes with a sim card slot and internal modem. That is what I am using to browse. So there is no app installed.

Do U know the number of the sim? If U do jus recharge via the sim app from ur phone

Hello Nairalanders, Compliments of the harmattan and covid season.. Due to the rising cases of atm card fraud and financial transactions fraud I felt the need to create this topic to educate us on how we can quickly block or restrict the usage of our debit/credit cards through our mobile banking apps.. As you all know ur cards are linked to your mobile app and as such you have some sort of remote control over your card and it's uses.

Some recent features and updates on these apps have made it possible to remotely block and unblock our missing cards.

I'm going to b making use of banking apps for Access and Firstbank respectively and you have to have activated your mobile app to access these functions.

1. First open and sign into your mobile banking app...

2. From the App menu locate any card related item
(Card services on the Access bank app while it appears as cards and cheques on the Firstbank app)

3. Inside the Card related service sub-menu, select the particular card attached to the account u want to block or restrict( For Firstbank select debit card and for access app just select manage cards under cards)

4. Access bank app would straight away ask for the account details and ur app pin and den u select block.
For firstbank selecting the debit card will show u the card linked to the account with an option to deactivate the card for atm services, pos services or online services. U can go ahead and deactivate all the services.

Dat way u have immediately blocked all access to the atm card u lost... For other bank users , jus explore your mobile app menu, I'm sure there's an option in there dat can help u restrict or block ur atm...

Stay Cyber safe and alert. Do your best to b careful not to fall victims to scammers...
