erickanel try setting your phone to full internet over GPRS and it will work, the same happen to me,i`m using motorola razr V3 but when set it back to full internet over GPRS, it worked fine and i even chatted with it, here are MTN settings for full internet over GPRS

NAME: MTN  ACCESS

HOME:wap.mtnonline.com or wap.google.com

IP ADDRESS: 010.199.212.002  OR   10.199.212.2

PORT:8080  (VERY IMPORTANT)it makes it to be full interner,WAP is 9201

APN(ACCESS POINT):web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
USER: web
PASSWORD:web

if the above does`nt work, check if your settings have where to change HTTP or WAP always choose HTTP (HTTP, PORT:8080,APN and IP ADDRESS are very important when setting full internet over GPRS. for more info you can reach me on 08065942445 or ncpatnig@yahoo.co.uk

very easy but you must know how to use the computer very well, the nec e616v comes with a usb cable,a CD software. attach the cable to the phone and plug it to the computer usb port of your system, and your computer will detect and say found new hardware, the found new hardware installation wizard will appear then insert the CD that comes with the phone into your CD ROM drive and click next, it will occure four time always click next and always choose english version of the operating system of your window e.g win2000 or win XP or if you don`t don`t have the cable and the software you can contact me on 08065942445

you don`t need MTN  incoming and outgoing server, all those software you have will work perfectly if you configure it well, i`m using motorola v3 and email mail that comes with the phone is working perfectly well with mtn sim card and i received my mail on the go, just make sure your gprs is working.FOR INFO. ok, it all started like this that I don`t have credit in my phone to even flash and I needed to get in touch with a friend of mine, I then remember that my phone is mms enable and that of my friend is mms enable too, so I just type  a text and send it through the mms medium and it worked,my friend received it and call me immediatelly and ever since then I have been sending messages to my friends with mms enable phone and is free,try to configure your mms enable phone and your friends` own to share the fun why it last.see yeah.

Do you know you can send free text messages from MTN to MTN?

i think i`m begining to like the phone since i can received email from it with out logging to yahoo from the browser just configure the email message setup and you can receive your e-mail messages on the go

has any one configure the e-mail setting and IM settings in it?

i have been to getjar.com and it always says download fail with mtn network and even to download mp3 ringtones still the same download fail,this file here is for motorola v3

What do you all think about this phone? It is only made for WAP browsing, MS, mp3 ringtones, and pictures (not too good).

You cannot receive applications through bluetooth, no infrared and you can not send any application to someone except you move it and you will have it no more in your phone.

So say your opinion.

hey my people let`s called a spade a spade, MTN is doing a nice work for giving us GPRS free of charge since it launch last year 2005, and you can also use it to connect your desktop and laptop to the internet free of charge, even glo that is claiming first 2.5 network is not doing it and MTN GPRS work in most phones than GLO GPRS, so continue enjoying mtn for now that the GPRS is freeeeeeee.

the MTN GPRS service is back for all sim now, if you did`t get the gprs signal re-send settings to 3888 or use a phone with dial up access to activate it. for more info call 08052609880

Guys I just found out that you can browse with your glo activated sim on your pc despite not migrating to glo direct which is full internet but with your glo gprs sim but is like there are more security to it because after the connection on my pc I could no longer browse with it on the phone but when connected to pc it does connect but the page is not displaying but it does connect for sure, so i will get another glo sim that is browsing on phones then try it again and i will keep you Guys posted

yes, browsing with MTN SIM  card on your PC is true, but pending on your sim card which even MTN does`nt know the course and the code problem b`because I have 2 mtn sim with the code ABJ which is abuja but one of them is working and the other does`nt work but my observation is that it is only the the 2G sim card that is working and the 2.5G sim does`nt work now but they were all working initiacially when MTN started the GPRS service so therefore there is no GPRS SERVICE available except WAP SERVICE which is suitable for 2G SIM, so for those of you that are lucky having the GPRS service, here is the setting on your computer operating with window XP.
Go to control panel and click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTION
2.CLICK NETWORK CONNECTIONS
3.CLICK CREATE A NEW CONNECTION
4.A WINDOW WIZARD WILL SHOW THEN CLICK NEXT
5.CHOOSE CONNECT TO THE INTERNET THEN CLICK NEXT
6.CHOOSE SET UP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY THEN CLICK NEXT
7.CHOOSE CONNECT USING A DIAL-UP THEN CLICK NEXT
8.ISP NAME : TYPE ANY NAME FOR THIS CONNECTION (eg  mtn access)
9.PHONE NUMBER:*99# (THEN CLICK NEXT)
10.USER NAME:web PASSWORD:web CONFIRM PASSWORD: web (click next)
11.thick add shortcut to my desktop then click finish
12. A CONNECTION WINDOW WILL APPEAR THEN CLICK DIAL AND YOU CONNECTED AND FEEL FREE TO BROWSE THE WEB AS IT IS FREE FOR NOW. FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL ME ON 08065942445
