CrimeNigerian Cocaine Pusher Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison In Uk by Ndata(op): 5:10am On Mar 06, 2012

According to the London Daily News Adegboyega Adeniji, 48, of Sandmere Close in Hemel Hempstead was stopped by border officers at Heathrow after he arrived on a flight from Amsterdam on April 4, 2011.

Searches of his two suitcases revealed they contained a huge quantity of drugs - 31kg of cocaine, 5kg of heroin and 2kg of methamphetamine. In total the haul had a street value of over £4m (N1bn).

When UK Border Agency investigators searched a flat he rented in Regent's Plaza, Kilburn, they unearthed another 23 suitcases, many of which tested positive for traces of drugs.

They also found evidence that he had done the same journey to Amsterdam on many previous occasions, travelling under the guise of a businessman who supplied heavy machinery to the oil business in Nigeria.

Deputy Director Jim Jarvie, from the UK Border Agency's Criminal and Financial Investigation team, said, “Adeniji was clearly a significant figure at the centre of an extensive criminal network. He was involved in the importation and distribution of class A drugs on a grand scale.

“Although the true amount of drugs he smuggled into the UK will never be known, it is probably safe to assume he has been responsible for the importation of tens - if not hundreds – of millions of pounds worth.”

The flat in Kilburn was the hub of Adeniji's criminal business, the place where he stored the drugs that he, and probably others who worked with him, had smuggled into the UK.

As well as the abandoned suitcases UK Border Agency investigators also found scales, a money counting machine, further packages of drugs and around £2,000 (N500,000) cash.

Analysis of his mobile phone showed he had regular contacts with associates in Amsterdam. Some of the texts he sent read like shopping lists of illegal drugs and prices.

Adeniji would then use a room in a nearby hotel in Maida Vale or rented apartment to do his drug deals. Text messages were found inviting others to the hotel, and these matched his pattern of travel to Amsterdam. Many of the names in the texts matched names found on the packages of drugs he was found with at Heathrow.

Checks on his bank records showed unidentified cash deposits of almost £1m (N250m) had gone into his account.

Since Adeniji's arrests assets of between £500,000 (N125m) and £1m (N250m) have been frozen by UK Border Agency investigators. They will now be the subject of Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation proceedings.

Adeniji admitted importation charges, but denied conspiring to import class A drugs. A jury at Isleworth Crown Court unanimously found him guilty. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison the same day.

CultureRe: Igbo Culture And Quest For Landed Property by Ndata(m): 4:48pm On Feb 09, 2012
@Abagworo i understand you perfectly. You are in effect advising Igbos instead of buying land in places they might loose their landed property in the future, they should consider buying those lands in Igboland.I m also guilty of this, am about to acquire one in Lagos now but the way things are going in the country am having a rethink. What do you suggest?

Also i will disagree with you that acquiring of landed property is a borrowed culture. It has always been in existence in Igbo land.Have you ever heard of "Ala obi"that refers to a piece of land bought by one, especially the head of the family, seperated from the family land.

BusinessRe: Starting A Pharmaceutical Marketing/distribution Company In Nigeria by Ndata(m): 1:50pm On Feb 09, 2012
Another thing,is that you will be ready to supply to Chemist/Pharmacy shops on credit and those inside the open market. Many importers do this. Also be ready to cope with their hanky panky games. They are the ones that can push your products. However once your product becomes popular they will be the one running after you.
BusinessRe: Starting A Pharmaceutical Marketing/distribution Company In Nigeria by Ndata(m): 1:42pm On Feb 09, 2012
The margin for a starter is not going to be much for OTC drugs, except for those companies who have made name. They make as much profit despite the fact that the compositions of the particular drugs are the same with that of other companies. That is why some who are not patient enough in waiting to make name for themselves go and make the copy of such products with the popular brand name placed on it.And sell slightly below what the original brand is is selling.

So, you have to make name before your profit margin gets high.

The only thing Yoruba will do if Soyinka is attacked is to loot Igbo shops, burn tyres, mount roadblock and start extorting people. That is what they are good at.
CultureRe: Why Do Ikwerre Igbos Reject Their Igbo Identity? by Ndata(m): 6:47pm On Feb 08, 2012
They started denying their Igboness after the Igbos lost the civil war. They thought Igbo is finished, but what are we seeing today? The rising Igbo nation despite all odds.So i guess the earlier they retrace their steps the better for them.Although nobody send them, they can choose where they want to belong.
BusinessRe: Starting A Pharmaceutical Marketing/distribution Company In Nigeria by Ndata(m): 9:12am On Feb 08, 2012
If 10million is just for the drug importation, then i guess it pretty ok.Another thing, you have to be careful with Chinese producers, because they are in the habit of cutting corners.I know someone who was here for that purpose and was shortchanged. He requested for a particular drug done for him,10 million naira worth. They produced 50% of the drugs to his specification and the other 50% substandard and packed into a container and shipped. However it was discovered here during the test.So the guy lost a lot of money.I guess India is pretty lot better for pharmaceutical products importation.

Also you can use Micro biologist and marketing pharmacist for the marketing aspect with official cars and they will be placed on comission from sales apart from the basic salary.I guess the starting basic salary is in the Neighborhood of 50K but you can increase with time.
Already antimalaria and antibiotics drug market is already saturated, in wondering which Niche you are looking at.
Do you really think 10,000,000 will comfortably start off this business?
BusinessRe: Starting A Pharmaceutical Marketing/distribution Company In Nigeria by Ndata(m): 5:21pm On Feb 07, 2012
Also its very important you have a presence in the open market.I mean you must have a shop/ office in Idumota drug market,if you are in lagos.Because whether you like it or not, that is where the distributors are.The big names like orange drugs,Greenlife etc have their roots from that market.
@Revolution That drug you mentioned is it an Antibiotics?

Hello fellow NL, i need genuine advice on pharmaceutical marketing business. I would like to know the detailed requirements involved in establishing a pharmaceutical distribution/marketing company in Nigeria. This includes licencing details, recruitment of marketing pharmacists(and salary), market demand for drug products, clearing and forwarding details, best location (state)for marketing, and investment capital.
The budgeted capital in consideration is about 10,000,000 naira.
All suggestions are welcome.
@Revolution. Am also interested in that business and i have been researching on it as well.I guess we can share ideas and information. To begin with you need to import the drugs probably from India or China. And for that to be possible you need a pharmacist on board.Or Pharmacist certificate. And for any brand of drug you want to import you must register it with NAFDAC for 1 million naira.I can continue,

Peeps have you read the book"Chuwuma"by Olusegun Obasanjo. In the book he idolized Nzeogwu and he called him a discipline soldier and a revolutionist and they were best of friends. And also you may ask the question when Nzeogwu boby was discovered after the battle of Obollo-Afor,the Nigeria troops took him with them back to Nigeria and gave him a heroic burial. So this is the same man some accused of leading Igbo coup aimed and killing just Non igbo officers.
PropertiesRe: 2011 Land & Property Scams Or Swindles Nairalanders Encountered To Avoid In 2012 by Ndata(m): 5:44pm On Feb 04, 2012
@ Lawyer
Every country goes through this turbulence and comes out better for it, so i dont think those fears are warranted for now and even if it happens, The state will not colonize the lands that other nationalities bought, rather they will be a way of registering foreigners to take proper ownership of lands in a foreign country, thats why you can go to the Us or Uk and own a land or property despite the fact your a Nigerian and based in Nigeria.
Lawyer i beg to diasgree with you on this.International law only protects property of foreigners in a country.it does not in any way protect people who hitherto were of the same country.Example is Sudan, the southern sudanese lost their property in the former Sudan after the splt.
So if something like that should happen in Nigeria(God forbid)with which law can you recover your property with?
Remember that after the Nigeria civil war, despite the fact we are still one country many Igbos were unable to recover their property. They were termed"abandoned property"
PoliticsRe: Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu On Nigeriantvonline by Ndata(m): 5:21pm On Feb 03, 2012
@oduasolja Have you read any material or book about the pogrom not the civil war?I mean materials not written by those that committed the crime, but the by the victims. That is when you get a clear pictures of what happened. How could a train packed full of easterners returning to the east be attacked at Makurdi and the whole travellers massacred?Abeg lets not open an old wound.
