I thank God for Saraki. History will show that more bills were passed in the 8th Senate than any other Senate before.

Typical example of the Saraki obstacle is the case of Magu. Where the executive nominated Magu and yet an agency of the executive the DSS wrote a damaging security report on Magu. Saraki asked the executive to either correct the DSS report or withdraw Magu. The DSS wrote a second report standing by their initial damaging security report while the same executive refused to withdraw Magu's name from consideration. Instead they were trying to bully the NASS to confirm an Anti-Corruption head that was given a damaging security report by the DSS even though they know that clean security report is a pre-requisite for NASS confirmation. The Senate did the needful and withheld confirmation.

Saraki at no time tried to attack or unjustly block Buhari's agenda. Saraki only presided over a Senate that tried to stick to the rules.

I think the 8th Senate is the best Senate in the history of Nigeria because neither PDP nor APC has overwhelming majority to pass anything and hence bills and government policy were subjected to more scrutiny before they could pass.

I hope that no matter who occupies the Presidency in future whether the PDP or APC we continue to have this kind of slim margin in the NASS because that way the Government is held more accountable.
