I got 2 admission into some Canada college early this year but one is already gone because I didn’t pay the deposit, remaining a post secondary certificate med lab assistant course but after the admission the school increased there tuition to from 14k to about 19k cad. It become very expensive also coupled the the naira depreciation. I only have 10M saved for traveling. Since this won’t be enough anymore, am thinking of forgoing the admission also and also the Japa dream for now.

I’m 29years with a first degree in biochemistry. I’m thinking I should go back to school for a pharmacy course maybe a private university here in Nigeria, maybe I can try and sponsor myself with the saved amount OR

I recently started a data analytic course online and it’s great but worried about the future for it because this decision is probably going to decide what I will do for the rest of my life. Don’t really know what the future hold by learning this and if it would be worth the energy because the industry looks like it’s getting over populated just like other tech industries.
So am currently confused in what decision to make
Is there hope for japa plan? I just don’t want to japa atleast with a purpose and I can get job with whatever I study there
Or going back to school
Or full focus on online data analytic courses with hope of a better future

Go to your school website to check available payment options of the school first. You can only pay through the school approved methods.

The covera too still has to be paid in dollars or pounds

It’s really bad here that’s why the government is cracking down on new people Coming it. Lots of people are struggling to survive here now. Newcomers can even afford to buy a home anymore they can’t get mortgages, cost of living has gone up, difficult to get a common minimum wage job not to talk of skilled jobs.

Only 20 percent of the population earns from above 100,000 cad a year. Majority of the people earns below 40,000 cad a year after tax of which out of those majority, huge percentage of Them gets 30,000 cad downwards a year. Do the maths for monthly earnings . Between 2200 to 3800 cad a month after tax! You will think that’s a lot when you are doing exchange conversion back home but here it’s nothing, you can’t survive here with that money. Self contain here in Ontario where I am now goes from 1800 to 2500 cad a month just one room self. You can’t even rent 2 rooms it’s really expensive. Even if you are in other provinces many are going from between 1200 to 1800 cad . Grocery is not there, gas, phone bills and car maintenance. Now tell me what will you do with that money.

Many people who haven’t traveled will not understand life abroad. You can say everything is beautiful bla bla bla road light whatever but you have to pay the price. That’s why people can’t even buy a home .you must have a combine income of approximately $263,300 in gross income to be approved for the average home price of $1,103,600 in Toronto. These houses now going for around 2 million. Now tell me someone earning 30k or 40k even with the spouse income won’t be able to get ordinary mortgage to buy a home that you still have to pay for balance for the next 25 to 30 years if you are even still alive to finish payment and still have a job to escape foreclosure. Even in provinces where houses are cheaper , it’s still difficult to get the money for down payment. Those who own home in nigeria are better off than here in the sense that you don’t have to worry about mortgage in nigeria , and many don’t pay property tax bla bla the only thing is the value of the house. If you don’t work here and have a mortgage you will have high blood pressure everyday coz you can be homeless anytime. This is why anyone earning between 500,000 to 1000000 a month in nigeria and own a home is far better than those here earning minimum wage.

Those who came early are lucky because things weren’t this bad. Now it’s so worse to the extent that malls are canceling self checkouts Walmarts , no frills among others because the people are bypassing goods while scanning their cart items , people will buy 10 goods and scan only 5 because no one is checking them. The crime rate is going up.

If your parent isn’t rich and you can’t survive on your own for atleast a year , it’s better not to come here . Plan before making that move. I know a student doing Uber eat using electric bicycle. Makes just 40 dollars a day. If not for his parents sending him money he would have gone back to India. I wish people know how cold it is. Imagine riding Uber eats on bicycles at night in the cold. He is not his choice to do this , he has been looking for jobs for 3 months in Toronto without success, not even a cleaning Job.

I’ve read some of your reviews on moving to Canada as a student. What did you study ? Are you in healthcare sector or tech. I just just got admission into pharmacy technician in Lambton sarnia campus. Do you think it’s a good course in Canada base on your experience. I’ve made research but you know internet is different from real life experience.

I’m not sure if this PPL thing affect lambton college sarnia too because PGWP is very important. If anyone has idea about that too just to be sure before proceed with my application. Thanks

Good morning house, please I need the advice of the gurus on this thread. My visa application has been approved and I have received my stamped passport. However, I listed my partner as one of my home ties, I even included pictures of us from 2019 till date, stating that I would come back after my study to get married.

Now, he wants us to get married before I leave in April 2024.

1) If we get married in April, do I need to inform IRCC of the change in my marital status and most importantly, would that not raise concerns?

2) Is there a duration people need to be married for before they can apply for SOWP? If I have to get married, I would want him to join me, maybe after six months or a year.

Please I need advice.

You guys can just get married quietly. Nobody will know. Both of can just go registry and get married.

It is normal for college to demand some amount before giving you a space in the program, whatever amount you paid will be subtracted from the total POF money. and as for the loan, you know where to get it
I don’t know where pls, that’s why am asking

Hello guys!!! I just got admission into lambton college for pharmacy technician (diploma) but they are asking to pay first semester tuition which is about 6500cad before February ending. Although I can still afford to pay that but my remaining money won’t be much again.
How do you guys POF please? Or you guys have 40M sitting in your account. If I can get a loan or something
Secondly; I’m still confused about how to apply for visa and am thinking of getting someone with experience in it to avoid mistake. Just want to get it once

To the best of my knowledge, I won’t advice you to go for an IT course except if you’ve worked in the IT field after graduation, personally, what I would do is apply for a bio chem related course, then when i get to Canada, i can change to an IT course.

Secondly, post secondary courses are a no for me, even the VO would have a hard time understanding why you are going for it. Apply for the post graduate certificate or diploma, its really not that difficult to get.

Okay. Thank you. Really appreciate

How useful is post secondary certificates in Canada? Can someone get a job with them? Or it’s better I apply for diploma programs which are 2 years.
I’m thinking of applying for post secondary certificate Med Lab assistant. It’s a one year certificate course and the fees will be somehow cheaper. I also have a bsc in biochemistry here

We really need to be very careful with some so called agents, Hopefully the right person gets to see this.

Please if you were the guy discussing with an agent on moving to Canada as a student at mega chicken close to festac, please put a halt to any business you have with him.

I overheard the agent telling him he can apply for a health course while having a computer science background. He said all he needed to do was to just explain in his SOP while saying it wasn’t a big deal and how he has helped many people scale that fence. I thought of interjecting but i just mute since them no put my mouth for their discussion.

Hopefully he gets to see this because I heard the applicant mention nairaland, if not na premium tears.

What about someone like me who did medical biochemistry. Any possibility of getting IT courses like data analysis or data science, or I should just apply for medical related courses

Hello everyone, I need assistance from study visa experts in the house.

I've been offered admission in two schools;
1. Red river Polytechnic, winnipeg - science laboratory technology 2 years (my second choice)
2 Red Deer Polytechnic, Alberta - Medical Laboratory assistant certificate 1 year (my first choice) (cheaper fees)

I have a BSc in Microbiology and a year experience as a medical laboratory assistant (three years ago)

Now I'm confused as to which to go with as per which would give me a higher chance of visa approval (2yr diploma vs 1yr certificate);
I intend to travel with my spouse and 2yr old kid and I have enough proof of funds for either schools. Also, Which of them would be easier to get PPR with?

Which one did you later go for ?

If I may ask ? What particularly interests you about Swansea , you may want to try better options.

Student support is low with Swansea and you should also check their payment policy before going ahead with the submission .

Good luck

They have a post graduate certificate course which the tuition is about 8k pounds that’s while am applying. I’m also still researching about other universities but there tuition is just way expensive.
If you have any recommendations for me too . Pls do reply. University or college that offer data analytics or data science courses with cheap tuition fees

I’m trying to apply for admission in colleges/University. They requested a reference letter but am confused, should the reference letter be general “to whom it may concern “ or maybe directly only to the school only. I’m also trying to apply to other school and considering I won’t be able to go back and get reference letters every time I wanted it. Will “To who it may concern “ be okay. Those of you that have gotten admission into universities please let me know the one you used?
