On the book, Afe and/or Dele knows the truth. And you the defenders of either parties know that most of the things Dele alleged in his book are actually correct and the reality of our judiciary except that you lack the courage to call a spade a spade.

We only murmur in our private spaces and hoping that thing will suddenly change miraculously.
No doubt truth may be in what he said, the issue is that he should have concrete evidence before fighting the establishment. That is how the law works. Eg you know a person is a thief, an armed robber, you cannot say he is one openly without him been caught robbing or stealing.

@Nedekid

I'm glad you appreciate the insights in the two videos and took out time to watch them. As I type this, I'm even against Aare Afe Babalola holding meetings with Peter Obi on behalf of 'Dele Farotimi. They should go to court and test the law on criminal defamation. I saw scenes of Seun Kuti's rambling video on the NL homepage yesterday night where 'Dele Farotimi was bragging at the beginning of the video before the warrant was issued by the court for his arrest that anybody who DOESN'T like what is in the "crappy book" he wrote should go to court. What pure arrogance is that! They should ALL go to court then, so, that he can pay full damages and his name will ALSO be struck off the register of lawyers for insulting a 95-year-old legal luminary and the Supreme Court. If you have NEVER been a victim of defamation before now, you won't realize how it feels. I personally have zero-tolerance for defamers like VDM, Deji Adeyanju and Dele Farotimi, including known trolls here on Nairaland and this is WHY I usually come to the defence of people who get defamed relentlessly (whether they are in the rich or low-income brackets). There's NOTHING like "absolute" freedom of speech anywhere. YOU must bring up EVIDENCE when you make an allegation under freedom of speech!

Whenever I get to see and read some of your posts on some threads from time to time, they are usually VERY sound. If you still remember, I once had a convo late last year (or early this year?) about the Northern cheap street food vendor close to your house who you told us you buy chicken 🍗 and chips from.

Alright then my bro.. I wish you a great week ahead.

Cheers.

Farotimi should know he has lots of enemies and not friends even on social media. They are even going as far as disparaging those trying to mediate this matter, all they want is for farotimi to go as far as paying a high price. The lawyer should be wise and know that nobody gives a Bleep about him especially when the chips are down. After few weeks same Nigerian deceiving him will move on and forget about him.

Succinctly stated. Well done. 👍

You have made very brilliant summations here!

Indeed, 'Deji is just using that naive boy called VDM to generate publicity for the growth of his own legal practice. 'Deji did the same by quickly coming to defend another social media boy (Speed Darlington) who defamed Burna Boy recently over the Sean "Diddy" Combs alleged "baby oil" affair. It took that Speed Darlington's mother going down on her knees to beg Burna Boy to soften Burna Boy's heart because he said he couldn't bear seeing another person's mother kneeling down for him. You can imagine how far some of these stupid people go just to CRIMINALLY defame other innocent folks by spreading falsehoods, hate speech and chase some useless social media clout. This isn't freedom of speech BUT downright criminal behavior that is NOT tolerated in the United States or any other country in the world. There MUST be firm consequences for these criminal defamations otherwise it would lead to spontaneous social unrests and bring about the destruction of society. This is what happened in Rwanda when hate speech being broadcast MAJORLY on radio and offline triggered the Civil War between the Hutus and Tutsis leading to the killings of thousands of people back in the 1990s!

Just 2 days ago, 'Deji Adeyanju tendered "faster-than-a-speeding-bullet" apologies (through his own lawyer) to the 2 PDP politicians he blatantly and CRIMINALLY defamed on a live interview program. Yet, 'Deji and the naive VDM's highly gullible, ignorant younger generation of followers who don't know the tenets of the legal system have been urging that young boy on. I remember the periods when 'Femi Falana, SAN, (who started off his career from the Gani Fawehinmi Chambers since the 1980s) went to jail several times under military dictatorships and was involved in the struggle for democracy before these youngsters were born after 1990. Some of these youngsters were still sucking their mothers' breast milks when Femi Falana was fighting for a just society in Nigeria. 'Deji Adeyanju CLEARLY knows full well what going through criminal defamation in court would bring that's why with the speed of lightning, he surrendered after calling someone a "kilishi seller" on TV. I saw another uncouth interview where he thoroughly denigrated and insulted the current President of Nigeria and I wondered why he couldn't just make his point WITHOUT the insults on live TV. He's just fortunate that the man who is the President of Nigeria now is NOT like Vladimir Putin (or any other ruthless President or dictator) who would send his secret spies to kill or eliminate those who have insulted him anywhere they may be hiding in the world. One such case took place in London where a Russian fugitive who ran from Vladimir Putin's Russia was poisoned. It was obvious that the case had the hallmarks of Russian goverment involvement.

This is why I'm glad that the iconic 95-year-old Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, (born on October 30, 1929 in Ado-Ekiti) and his Magodo GRA-based law chamber have filed a criminal defamation suit against the 56-year-old 'Dele Farotimi who retired as a lawyer in 2018. I read excerpts of the CLEARLY defamatory book this 'Dele dude made in his self-published book in the official, publicly available rebuttal in the Punch newspaper link BELOW which Chief Afe Babalola made and I was stunned by the use of CLEAR insults targeted towards Afe Babalola and the Supreme Court. It's indeed a pure case of criminal defamation meant to lower the reputation of a 95-year-old legal giant and the Supreme Court in the public eye and stir up public disorder without providing one shred of evidence! I can say categorically that from what I have read in that incidious book, 'Dele Farotimi is legally done for and all those urging him on by writing propaganda articles to manipulate public opinion such as Omoyele Sowore and the propagandists from People's Gazette will NOT save him. All the money he thinks he will make from the crappy book sales on Amazon will go to paying damages to Afe Babalola and co.

[ICYMI] How Dele Farotimi defamed me – Afe Babalola

I watched "Politics Today" on December 6, 2024 via livestream on Channels Television with 'Seun Okinbaloye, the respected lawyer, Jiti Ogunye expressing his surprise that a lawyer like 'Dele Farotimi would refuse to appear in court after he was summoned and instead chose to go online to hold a press conference to mislead people by saying that there were plans to arrest him and that what he did was done in Lagos and not Ekiti. This is why an arrest warrant was issued by the court for his arrest earlier BECAUSE he failed to appear. If he had appeared in court earlier in the year, what 'Dele is going through right now would NOT be happening.

It's becoming CLEARER that NOT all these human rights activists and lawyers are NORMAL people. INFACT, if you look at the history of a significant number of human rights activists or radical lawyers who became African Presidents, these guys ended up becoming ruthless dictators in their countries. These guys who call themselves human rights activists like Omoyele Sowore, 'Deji Adeyanju, and 'Dele Farotimi, etc, have personality FLAWS or mental flaws which will predispose them to being bloody dictators if they get to grab political power. This is my inference based on my years of knowledge of advanced human psychology and these guys need help from professional Psychoanalysts to unravel the source(s) of their awkward personalities and behaviors.
Bros you said it all. I watched both videos.
I was shocked to read of vdms lawyer quickly tendering an apology when he defamed, same guy advising his client not to do the right thing.

Oga you are misinformed. Lagos judiciary has nothing to do with this matter. Chief Babalola was defamed in Ekiti which is where he read the book of which therefore grants jurisdiction. He chose the route of criminal prosecution and not suing for damages as his lawyers said no financial award will be worth the damage done to him. Do you understand what that means? That no amount of money awarded to him will be compensatory. Oga the old man does not need money, he needs farotimi to prove his allegations or pay a price by loosing his freedom!
On what basis does Lagos state comes into the issue to the point that he should sue Lagos?

Not in support of murder, but did the 28 year old Nigerian see the British Jorge Ortega in London and just started assaulting him? It must be a case of fighting, and in this, can't pass for murder. If he is in sound state of mind, he is reasonably expected to know the dire consequences of committing murder.

This is childish on your side. Igbos telling ikwerre they are speaking igbo is like seeing a Samsung TV in my house and you claim I have your TV in my house because you have Samsung in your house. Ikwerres don't have anything to do with you people. There is no history of Igbos anywhere that ikwerres migrated from any part of them. It is only a coincidence as found all over the world that we share some words in common. This is not only found with the Igbos vs Ikwerre. It is found in Malaysia vs Indonesia, Ukraine vs Poland. Sweden vs Norway, Finland amongst others.
Make una no waste una time an ikwerre man would never have anything to do with Igbos. Ikwerres vehemently deny your identity before the war when they had a lot to gain. They won't now that you people have riddled your identity.
You seem to reason with your emotions than with a clear head, if not you will notice my post is an observation and reaction to a general discuss. What concerns me if you are igbo, ikwerre, or if ikwerre comes from igbo or vice versa? They can be from Ghana for all it is worth. My simple observation is the similarity in language. As a non igbo or ikwerri speaker rather a Nigerian, just as you see something written or a language spoken you say it is likely igbo, hausa yoruba etc. You hear Nigerian person speak sounding like a Chinese and you say it sounds like "calabar" language, it could be efik, ibibio or a whatever but for a eg edo or igbo it sounds calabar.
As I said earlier, what you wrote there looks like igbo language to a novice. Of course as you corrected it is not igbo but ikwerre.

Her native language doesnt have Igbo in it rather, it is an Igbo dialect.

In Igbo language, we have over 30 dialects.

In Imo state for example, we have Mbaise, Mbano, Orlu, Okigwe, Arondiziogu, Nkwerre dialects etc

In Anambra we have Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Ekwulobia, Aguata dialect etc

In Enugu we have Nsukka, Eziagu/Udi, Enugu, Nkanu etc

In Abia we have Abiriba, Ngwa, Umuahia, Aba etc

In Ebonyi we have Okposi, Izzi, Ezza, Abakiliki etc

In Anioma we have, Asaba, Agbor, Ogwashi ukwu, Ndokwa etc

In Rivers we have Ikwerre, Emouha, Obigbo, Nkwerre etc

And many more. These are different dialects of the Igbo language and what commonly connects us is the general Igbo known as 'Igbo izugbe'

Thank you
