Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Rolls Out Diesel In Trucks For Local Consumption (Video) by nedekid: 2:56pm On Apr 16
Paraman:
It has no correlation with my comment.

Around january and february, the price of diesel was sold for close to #1800 in some filling station because of the way the naira was losing value against the dollar. If Dangote bought his crude when dollar was 1350/$, he won't want to make a loss too nah
Dangote bought his crude supplied to him from Nnpc ie Agbani and exxon mobile here in Nigeria. The crude he imported from the US is for export market.
The question is did Nnpc give him crude in forex? And even if Nnpc gave him in forex it likely would not be at the market rate. Assuming it was even market rate, the cost of international shipping, insurance, taxes, customs duty etc ought to factored out of his current cost, not to talk of his local cheap labour.
What still is the benefit of having local refining capacity if imported Ago is still the same price.
Yes diesel was sold as high as 1600 to 1800, it came down to 1450 to 1700 before Dangote refinary started supplying. It is currently sold still between ₦1395 (some Nnpc with manipulated pumps) to ₦1650 in some stations, atleast within mainland Lagos.
It does not make sense that diesel refined in Nigeria will be dragging price with one imported from far away Russia.
You saw what air peace did, tickets was 3m, air peace came in and cut it to 1.2m despite their aircrafts being wet leased which is more expensive to operate (forex wise) for the airline than a dry leased aircraft foreign airlines mostly use. He used home advantage, dangote too should use home advantage to our benefit

Feldie:
I'd like to know what happened in the 90s that led to this if you don't mind

Same poor electricity, high cost of Ago, LPFO, high interest rates, multiple taxation etc.
It then becomes cheaper and less stressful to import, store and sell. Those days, we were at iganmu industrial estate, all our neighbors gradually stated disposing of their machines for scrap and started importing all sorts, from the then "I pass my neighbor" generators to lanterns, pots, fridges, cookers etc, we continued manufacturing. When we received sense after being so much in debt, we too sold our machines and rented out the place as storage for imported goods. Infact it was used by a bank to store goods they financed for importers.
Go to iganmu industrial estate now, areas such as Aminu jinadu close and see how desolate it is, a former thriving industrial area with thousands of workers, form Italians, to lebanese, French, Nigerians, Indians, Ghanaians.

The manufacturing sector too are not very honest.
Since the rise in naira most of the manufacturered product that hardly need foreign raw material still maintained their exorbitant prices.
Dangote bought his crude oil from usa when dollar was high. And now the pump price of imported diesel is at ₦1250 base on the exchange rate. You won't expect dangote to loose.
Let him sell off what he has now, the more naira gain more strength the lesser the price of diesel because dangote cannot sell above imported market price.

Better days ahead.
You know nothing of what is happening. Diesel price is 1450 and above, no change despite dangote comming onboard. Some Nnpc sell at 1390, but with heavily tampered pumps.
There is no manufacturer or service provider, school, hotels etc making money right now, the are all making loses, most even burning into their capital just to remain open hoping things will improve.
Dangote sells at 1250-1300 not retail but to buyers of 1m and above liters. By the time it gets to the stations, it is the same price as imported diesel!
No manufacturer can make and sell at such cost, as imported products will be cheaper, very soon they will shut down factories and rather import cheaper product, then use the factory space as warehouse after disposing of the machines. Afterall business is to make gain.
Same thing happened in the 90s early 2000s when factories all over closed and were turned to churches, warehouses etc. The owners saw it was less stressful disposing of machines and just renting out for storage.

Will this crash the price of diesel ?
That is what we are praying for and expect to see, but for now, it is still elusive. I bought ₦1450 yesterday. Some Nnpc sell for 1390, but with heavily modified pumps (of you know what I mean).
Dangote sells for 1250-1300 per liter depending on quantity bought. Funny thing is that 1250 is the landing price for imported diesel, so how come dangote sells so high considering no shipping cost, port charges, import taxes etc. At 1250, dangote has made no difference because by the time transportation and petrol station markup is added, the diesel will be 1500 at the pump!
The good thing I have seen so far is the quality of diesel. Your commonrail system ie injectors will work better. Folks can now import and use modern diesel cars without fear of breakdown.
Note also if the price remains high, stations will continue adulterating diesel to make a decent margin.

This is very impressive of HE Matawale. Nigerians of nothern extraction currently serving in the federal cabinet of FG must defend the services they rendered to the nation. I expect someone like Mallam Ribadu to speak up too because he has been doing a great job as the NSA.

It's a worthy challenge and it's only if you have nothing to show as proof of your service to the nation that you will keep silent when you are being challenged by NEF who belong to your constituency. It is not today that NEF attacks APC- led FG, they work for HE Atiku and constantly attacking PMB then too.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

I wonder...all this silly long stories.CCTV would have solved everything..the story no clear.
So, what is the cctv was not working? Is it everything that works in Nigeria?
Nigeria is the only country a person cannot die without some conspiracy. Someone must take blame for even eg a person with self inflicted injuries.
Few days ago, the manager of a hotel brought her young, only son to work as it was a weekend. The unattended boy followed the child of another staff to the pool area, gained access. He saw the floating tube swimmers use as floaters and tried to grab it from the water, in the process he fell inside the water. It was just luck that child had that he survived.
Now what if the unfortunate happened, Nigerians, even the careless parent will claim all sorts, juju, ritual, negligence, no life guard, deep pool, pool door not locked with key etc.
Because of that, all workers have been banned from bringing their kids to the premises. Imagine you did not come to spend money, rather still brought your kid to cause wahala.

Nigeria's food hike solution will come when Nigerians decide to take agriculture as a norm.
Normal normal I make sure I plant yearly even if it's third party planting and harvesting process.
If you have funds that you can invest in agriculture for personal consumption then make sure to...thank me later.

Read to comprehend...there's no award for hasty mentions...

Ability to comprehend is a rare trait..you have it though...stay blessed.

Start an Agric community... If you need help to facilitate your Agric goal(s) then drop your contact I'll link you for further actions.

Wittyness
Seems you skipped the part when they spoke of insecurity, extortion and thousands of tax collectors on the road, increasing cost of transportation ie diesel price.
Farmers are being ruined daily, you want people to go put their money inside. As I will always say, if you have space in your backyard or empty plot of land you are not using, go into peasant, pleasure farming. But as a young man, you take your saving, inheritance, loans etc to go into farming as a source of sustainance, means of primary income, Omo, you will age beyond your years. I have seen guy in his late 30s look like a shriveled 55 year old. It almost happened to me too, thank god I got myself out of the bondage.
Certain kind if business's you leave for old retired people or people that their families have done it for generations.
My personal opinion though. Hands are not equal, it could work for you, although I never saw anyone I knew it worked for. Lol

Young boys already having a black heart. No conscience at all. That victim said he was going to take his life, yet they told him to quickly do it. Can you imagine the evil, darkness in their minds? It is not only them, but thousand of soulless youths you have today, the urge to make money is so much, they kill.
Anyway, as they showed no mercy to the late victim, no mercy must be shown to them. 600 years is recommended. Let them spend the rest of their lives incarcerated thinking of the life they frustrated to death.

PDP met it at N28 in 1999. Why did they left it at N216?

Must you spew rubbish? Where were you 1999 to know dollar was ₦85-90 to a dollar? PDP kept dollar and pounds relatively stable for 16 years. Pounds was between 180 - 250 in all 16 years. Dollar was between 90 to 150, it was only during the normal election shenanigance from politicians it rose to 200 of which after elections and it was expected return back after beneficiaries of the largesse unloaded their forex loot.
How can you in all responsibilty compare 80 to even 200 to $1(PDP) , to 200 to 1300 for goodness sake?
Oga, 2000, I got contract from FAAN, of which I imported the products from UK in pounds, the exchange rate was ₦190 to a pound.

Abeg this ass should shut his trap, stick to what he knows best which is trolling Obi.
If an airline has 50 jets how does it make a difference on a fixed route with bilateral air agreement? Eg UK route with fixed daily or weekly flights? Even if you have 100 aircraft's, it makes no difference with who has 5, because only one or 2 will service the route. Air peace will continue enlarging its aircraft fleet as the routes expand, eg acquire more planes to cover the upcoming US route.
The Kangaroo thinks airline business is what you keep coded so village people don't come after you. Reno and his village mentality sense.
