One my guy they gave a little less too called the next day, Omo, I pitied him. This guy has been facing rough times since he lost his job, he started doing some little contracting work. After a long time of soliciting business, a client advanced him some money, little money for his previous status but big money for his current financial situation. They gave my wife 500k, but the money that got to her was like 450+ (if I remember right cos I think they took the interest ahead), another friend they gave 300k. So the amount approved per person varied.

If we cannot pay 500k minimum wage, then full-time engagement of workers should stop while hourly rate wages should be introduced. By doing this, people can be free to work multiple jobs and get paid based on the number of hours they worked. Simple! We shouldn't be rigid about having workers be at work from morning to evening only to end up receiving peanuts as salaries at the end of the month.

Omo, naija is finished, I just calculated 20k daily and it comes to 560k for 28days, is that what people are saying is big money? Even mechanics earn more than that, the problem is transportation, feeding, nepa etc takes it all. Most people in reality do not even know how much they spend monthly, they think it is just their salaries but when the keep records of expenditure they will wonder where the money came from. Nigeria's labour market needs a total overhaul! We need to start paying hourly wages so that people are paid based on the number of hours they put in on daily basis. Also, workers should be allowed to keep multiple jobs provided they get paid based on the number of hours they put in.

Alternatively, government should increase minimum wage to at least 500k so that workers can earn what would sustain them for the month. The current system is not working! This is why many people now resort to cutting corners and taking bribes to make ends meet.

Wount that cause inflation? Not all business can pay that amount, rather inflation should be brought down and the naira made to appreciate in value. If you earned 150k 12years ago, you should earn atleast 1.5m today to live similar livestyle.
