Politics / Re: House Of Reps Calls For Outright Removal Of Subsidies by Nefort: 9:51pm On Jun 02, 2023
Angelfrost:
Removal is already a foregone conclusion...!

However, cushioning and palliatives should have been put in place long before now!

You don't place the cart before the horse...!

If they will spend money on cushioning and palliatives then what's the point removing the subsidy? The money spent on palliatives is also a subsidy.

It's lazy people who complain of the economy everytime. Why would a man in his mid 30's live at home? Such a man has no ambition.

Go and rent a room in a face me house, go and be a bus conductor or any other manial job. It's much more dignified than to be a free loader crying about the economy.

Too many men have become weak and lazy. I see them all around, even online begging for 2k. Weak and lazy set of people.

It's better to earn 20k a month than not earn at all. Even if you earn 20k, get two of such jobs. Foolish people everywhere. Except you have a health challenge or deformity, there's no excuse for you.
You are just saying things to sound so easy. You yourself can you be a bus conductor? Can the money you earn from being a conductor even pay rent? Unless you want to share a room with four persons all in the name of leaving your parents house. Most jobs are 9 - 5 and can be hectic. And you expect someone to do two jobs in a day?

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive Governor of Lagos State was the brain behind the Lekki Free Trade Zone. This excellent economic initiative gave birth to The Eko Atlantic City, Lekki Deep Seaport and Dangote Refinery.

Isn't it hilarious that Peter obi, a man under whose watch as the Governor of Anambra, could only attract the investment of a brewery to his state, now wants to be the President of Nigeria as oppose to Tinubu whose achievemt far exceeds his.

Mr obi, Nigeria no be Anambra. Tinubu na your Papa. You yourself use your eyes see say Dangote Refinery wey dey for Tinubu's Lagos no be like the Sabmiller Brewery beer parlour wey u build for your people for Anambra because say you think say dem be drunkards
It's very easy to do well as governor of Lagos State because the resources are there. If Tinubu was governor of Anambra State he would have achieved absolutely nothing.

I was referring to foreigners resident in nigeria, who may have stayed long enough to have established businesses and investments. Most are either citizens or eligible for citizenship.
If they are citizens then they are also eligible for appointments as well.

So, you're using your population in Yorubaland to threaten your hosts?! You also have a large population in Kano, why have you not used it to threaten the Hausa-Fulani people?
Oga I am not your typical Nairaland tribal war poster so that thing you said in bold is just nonsense. Where exactly has that threat been happening? Can you point out any instance where a large number of Igbos came out publicly to threaten Yorubas in Yoruba land? Even the word "host" you used up there doesn't make sense because no one can be a host in his own country just because he is living in a state he wasn't born. The point I am trying make here is that there should be nothing like state of origin discrimination as long as we are citizens of the same country. Anybody from any state or ethnic group should be eligible for appointment in any state he resides for a number of years. This is when we will start having true national unity.

Taxes are for the roads and services that state provide. You're not doing charity by paying taxes.
What I am trying to say is those you regard as non indigenes were also born in the region and also do every other things just as those you regard as indigenes. In a sane society your state of origin shouldn't determine were you are allowed to seek appointments.
Politics / Re: Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments by Nefort: 9:59am On May 22, 2023
YouandiAllofus:
Even foreigners from different countries are here in their numbers, they have investments that contributes massively to the economic development and they also pay taxes. Does this now make them deserve political appointment in lagos state?
Foreigners are not citizens of Nigeria so they can't be eligible. This is a different case.
Politics / Re: Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments by Nefort: 11:40pm On May 21, 2023
YouandiAllofus:
While merit, qualification and competence are more of a prerequisite, having a large population of one's tribe in another state is not sacrosanct to deserving political appointment.
But they pay taxes where they reside and also contribute in one way or the other to the growth and development of the region they reside just as those you regard as indigenes. So why wouldn't they deserve some appointments just because they are non indigenes?
Politics / Re: Group Begs Sanwo-olu To Consider Igbo For Political Appointments by Nefort: 9:11pm On May 21, 2023
YouandiAllofus:
If nigerians can get political appointments in europe and america, i wonder why a hausa/fulani, yoruba or igbo man cannot get political appointment in anambra, kano or lagos state. And to the igbos seeking ethnic balancing through political appointments; can you imagine the fulanis or yorubas seeking same in enugu or anambra state and expecting your governors to grant these appointments?
If Yorubas or Hausas have a considerable high population size in Igbo land then they deserve to be given political appointments. But their populations are quite low. Igbos due to their population in Lagos deserve a few appointments but they shouldn't be asking for it.

Get down from your horse of pride and hatred and learn from Lagos. You're simply envious of Lagos. Ask yourself same thing about Lokoja and Calarba that are also capitals at some time. Remember that Lagos was stripped off the Capital over 30yrs ago. Lagos is a State that God has blessed and with good visionary learders as governors over the years/decades.
What exactly did I say that is a lie? Please tell me. Is it a lie that the federal government didn't invest in Lagos? Is it a lie that Nigerians from every region didn't invest in Lagos? Is it a lie that foreigners didn't invest in Lagos? You must joking if you think "visionary leaders" is what made Lagos what it is today.

Peter Obi was never a drug dealer or a looter and Godfather who looted his state's resources like Tinubu. Peter Obi is not a criminal like Tinubu. That alone is an achievement. Unfortunately uneducated people like you will never understand the disgust in electing a criminal into office.

And which religious problem did he cause? Just because he visited churches?

Poverty is not the cause. They are just not educated and enlightened. This is also the same uneducated people who vote for the likes of Tinubu and Buhari. This country will never develop as long as citizens are this uneducated.
Events / Re: As A Woman How Much Are You Willing To Contribute To Your Wedding? by Nefort: 9:31pm On May 12, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. But you are the one not making sense at all. If you enter into a relationship with a girl on the grounds that what you are looking for in a mate is someone who is willing to share the bills as partners in the relationship — and the girl agrees to such a relationship. Do you not see that it is almost guaranteed that even when it comes to paying the wedding cost and you make it known that you both have to share that too, she will likely agree to it too? Of course, if she says no, that is fine too, then you leave and find you another who will share all bills including the wedding cost. undecided

2. You are not making any sense! Again, if you and your partner cannot agree to the cost of the wedding, then it should automagically mean that the wedding should not take place at all, why? Because Marriage is an agreement between a man and a woman. And until you both agree, no one partner should shove his decisions at the other just for the heck of it. undecided
I think you are failing to figure out how you got it wrong so let's go back to how this started.

A poster somewhere above mentioned that a lady called off a wedding engagement because her partner decided he will spend ₦2 million for the wedding. Then you made a comment and said something like the lady shouldn't be blamed because the man made the choice himself and nobody forced the lady on him. I found that comment you made ridiculous because I felt an issue like that can't always be discussed and agreed on at the very early stages. During engagement all that matters is that we hope to get married. Then at the last minute when the wedding plans kick in I inform her that I intend to spend ₦2 million on the wedding. And then she calls off the wedding at that last minute because I intend to spend ₦ 2 million. The poster blamed the lady for being greedy and over ambitious for calling off a wedding in that manner and I think he was right about it. But you came up and said the lady shouldn't be blamed because the man should have KNOWN from the beginning it will go that way. So I am calling you out for making that statement because it's not always possible to predict such outcomes. So what is it am I getting wrong about your comment on the matter?
Events / Re: As A Woman How Much Are You Willing To Contribute To Your Wedding? by Nefort: 8:58pm On May 12, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. That is the dumbest excuse possible in this case. We are talking about a big-time life decision here not some happenstance. undecided

2. Marriage is an agreement between a man and a woman. If you both can't even agree on how much should be budgeted for the wedding, then you have absolutely no business getting married in the first place. Start taking responsibility for the decisions you make in your own lives and stop shifting blame cause it makes you lot seem as though imbe_ciles abeg! undecided
I am sorry I don't think you are making sense or maybe I am failing to see the sense you trying to make. You are actually sounding like it's possible to predict how your partner will react in all kinds of situations you both will encounter in future. You and your partner may agree on certain common issues before marriage but some other kinds of issues can't be predicted and agreed on until it happens, and when it happens any of the partners may be at fault.
Events / Re: As A Woman How Much Are You Willing To Contribute To Your Wedding? by Nefort: 8:19pm On May 12, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. What is juju is intentionally dating someone who doesn't believe in contributing only to whine and complain about it later on as though a gun was put to your head in the first place. undecided

2. The man who chose her for his bride agreed to it so why have a problem with her when you aren't the one she is marrying? undecided
Sometimes events are unpredictable. I can be okay with dating and wanting to marry a lady who wouldn't want to contribute anything for our wedding. But when the girl calls off a wedding because I budgeted ₦2 million for it then it is a kind of behaviour that I may not predict early until it happens. So blaming me for "knowing" it will happen doesn't apply here.
