Politics / How Tribalism Could Have Been Defeated In Nigeria by Nefort: 8:35pm On Mar 20, 2023
Ever since the election season started the matter became a tribal issue between mainly between Yorubas and Igbos as we have seen on Nairaland. The best presidential candidate became all about which tribe you came from. Yorubas feel Tinubu is the best while Igbos feel Peter Obi is the best. The Lagos governorship election eventually became more of a tribal struggle between Yorubas and Igbos.

One of the things that should have been done to prevent these tribal issues as soon as Nigeria became a country is to evenly mix up all the ethnicities in Nigeria in such a way that we shouldn't have a particular tribe only occupying a certain part of the country. When we have Yorubas occupying only the western side and Hausas/Fulanis only occupying the northern side and Igbos occupying the east it all made it look like we have 3 countries in Nigeria pretending and deceiving themselves to be united as one country. Having the various tribes in Nigeria living separately made us too conscious of our tribe which breeds tribalism. For us to have true national unity we are supposed to have every tribe evenly spread out in all parts of the country and then completely dismantling the use of state of origins to determine who can govern any state. In Igbo land for instance we are supposed to have about 30% Igbos, 25% Yorubas, 25% Hausas and 20% other tribes. The same ethnic distribution should also apply in other regions between the indigenes and other tribes. Anybody from any tribe should be able to govern any state as long as you are a citizen of the state according to the number of years you have spent living in the state and your deep understanding of the region. If we had all the ethnicities evenly mixed up then tribalism would never have been an issue in Nigeria because the relationship among the tribes will be wider and stronger. Biafra agitation would have made no sense and impracticable if all ethnicities were evenly mixed up. Zoning the presidency would have been meaningless. All these tribal statements saying: "Go back to your land", "You want to claim my land" would have been nonsense because the whole of Nigeria will become a no man's land in a positive sense.

To mix up the ethnicities at the early stages of the country's creation there was supposed to be something like incentives that makes living outside your ancestral land more attractive than living in your ancestral land. Examples of the incentives could be things like more employment opportunities for the non indigenes, cheaper land and more affordable housing for non indigenes, lower taxes and more ease of doing business for the non indigenes.

Nigeria can work. But there is going to be a HARD RESET by implementing some vital measures, and one of the measures should definitely including mixing up the tribes across the country to mitigate tribalism.

Why didn’t he win in other SW and the North? He was voted for by Ibos, some Northern Christians, Yoruba Christians in Lagos and some hangry Yorubas because of scarcity of fuel and cash. Why didn’t the same Lagos people win Lagos for LP. Mind you, he won in Lagos with just 10k votes. In the North, the maximum vote he got was 6k+. Just to tell you his level of popularity.
All other states you mentioned he won are Christian-dominated states. Obi is a religion bii.got

Let obi come out again in 2027 if dem born am well. You can see in his home state, LP only won 3 seats at the HoA.
You keep saying nonsense and sounding very uneducated. So because Christians voted for him that makes him a religious bigot? Did he ever ask only Christians to vote for him? Didn't muslims vote for him as well even though lesser in numbers at the north? Many Muslims voted for Tinubu does that make him a religious bigot as well?

You are the one that said Peter Obi is only known in Igbo land. And I asked you what about the votes he got outside Igbo land no matter how small? So you think it's only Igbos that gave him over 6 million votes?

Carry your character and go and contest. Sebi you expect every Northern voters to dey carry x-ray machine around to scan the inner you to know you have good character in you. It is what you display and act on physically that people see as character. Don’t come and prove, indirectly, that Obi has character. He doesn’t and he won’t. He is an opportunist and he is deceitful. He is only posing as a good man.

I don’t know how you want over 90million voters to know you have character. Ègbe. Character ko. Characteristics ni. Obi is not known beyond Ibo land. Period. It’s church gate-crashing and sone online propaganda that made him get to where he got to. If dem born am well, let him contest again in 2027 and he would know Khaki no be leader.
Obi is not know beyond Igbo land but he won states that are not Igbo land such as Lagos, Abuja, Nasarawa, Plateau etc. Keep typing nonsense.

Let Rochas and HimTuLie contest for presidency and see who will get the highest votes in the North and Southwest. Sebi you said you be wheyrey. It has been long Rochas has entered in between all tribes. Before this last election, Rochas has been known decades in SW before Obi became governor of Anambla. Nonentity.
It's not about being known. It's about character and competence. Many people in the north are uneducated so I expect them to vote name over competence. But in the South West with more educated people there is no way Rochas will beat Peter Obi if only two of them are on the ballot.

Na so dem dey build bridges? Na so others built their own? No wonder iggb0s are packed aside in Nigerian politics. Obi needs to go and learn, starting from Politics 101.

Two months to election, they started sewing tribal clothes and visiting the north.

Have you ever since Obi’s pix where he is sitting on bare rug in the palour of any northern politician or non-politicians? Have you read it in the news where Obi urgently flew to the North for any wedding Fatiah or burial of their aged parents? Have you seeing where Obi joined them in any infrastructure commissioning in the North? Consider the same thing for Southwest and Northeast and Middle-belt.

Obi thought he would never need them in life but when his presidential ambition depended on it, it was already late for him.
I am sure he was warned and told, by his people, that he won’t win.

Quickly do these for me:
You can name 10 true powerful non-political friends that Obi has and as maintained since 2012.

Also name minimum of 10 powerful Northern non-sitting governors that Obi has and as maintained since 2010.

Still name 10 top rated, first class Emirs, both sitting and non-sitting ones that Obi has as friends from 2010 till date.

Mention 10 top business executives and or powerbrokers of Northern extractions that Obi has and as maintained since 2012.

Mention 5 northern friends whose parent are powerful and influential that any of Obi’s children have.

Repeat the same task for Southwest and let’s analyze why Obi failed.

You can see that Yusuf is no longer shouting. Im know say na luck dem wan try. Dem get higher chances of not wining. The only shortcut for Obi was to play ethnicity and religious cards and see how far that could go.

I have said it before and I will say it again: just wait for APC and see how they will dismantle LP the way they did for PDP. Just wait. PDP that has money and stronger people was decimated. You would see how LP politicians will start crisscrossing and ‘decamping’ soon.
I am sorry to inform you that visiting the north to sit on the floor with emirs and sultans or attending mosque prayers is not enough to make you win the northern votes. Rochas Okorocha and Orji Uzor Kalu have been publicly licking the ass of the north but Peter Obi still has a higher chance of being president than Rochas and Orji Uzor.

The major thing that made it possible for Tinubu to become president elect today is because he joined forces with Buhari to build a stronger party to unseat Goodluck Jonathan. After looting Lagos dry Tinubu had enough money to buy his way through APC primaries and then win the presidential elections by winning several northern states which APC already controlled. Tinubu didn't win because he built any bridges in the north by wandering about in the north attending weddings or visiting the emirs or sultans.

People like Orji Uzo Kalu and Rochas Okorocha are the only Igbo Politicians who truly understand Politics of Nigeria in Igboland. The rest of the Politicians like Obi are very ignorant of the politics in Nigeria.

To win an election you have to build bridges across all the regions especially the North. This is what Yorubas, Edos, ijaw do in Politics but you guys think on your own you can win elections.

To the issue of Lagos, another huge voting block in Lagos is the Hausa- Fulanis but they go along with whichever Candidate the indigenous tribe go with. Most of them even go to the North to elect their leaders. It means they care for their home states and just come to Lagos to make a living but reverse is the case for Igbos they come to Lagos to not only do their business but want to use their voting block to Choose leaders who will have their own interest as against the interest of the indigenous people. They abandon their own states to rot to bad leaders and insecurities.
What makes you think Peter Obi didn't try to build bridges? Didn't he visit the northern leaders while campaigning for election? How exactly do you want him to build bridges then?

You mention the Hausas go along with whichever candidate the indigenes go with and that's a lie. What you should say is that Hausas don't make noise about who they intend voting for. Probably because they are not much on social media like the Igbos.

He’s in court already challenging the result and giving interviews by claiming he won the election without evidence is not good for the stability of the country.
Thank God we are not in a military regime.
He has a right of free speech to say the election was rigged even if the court says it was not rigged. It's only when he starts inciting violence that he should be called to order.

If you know your onions, i see no reason why you should be scared. Tech companies knows how to weedout incompetent programmers using coding challenge, so you should rather focus on that. And if you feel the pressure is too high, learn solidity, golang, rust... you won't have a lot of competition unlike php, js, and mobile development
Do you think hiring companies give out code challenges to every candidate who applied for a position? Hundreds or thousands of candidates will apply and then they choose a few number to progress to the next round. From the things you said I should be the one telling you you ain't in tech and not aware of how things work. Please it's absolutely wrong for you to say their is space for every software engineer on Earth. Many software engineers are still unemployed. Just correct yourself.

You are talking absolute nonsense. So you want women to compete with men for jobs and at the same time depend on men for her needs? What sort of selfishness is this? Isn't it better women leave their jobs for men so that more men will get employed and get the money to take care of women?

If it's into your dorm acct, locate any trusted aboki that's into exchange business and do transfer. Mind you they pay less for transfers

If it is cash pick up, depending on the service they use, you can still pick up from other banks associated with service the spender used

Remember you get 5 naira for every 1 USD you receive
I tried doing it this way but the maximum you can transfer from GTBank Domiciliary account is $150 which is very small.
