a great opportunity for boko to finally get its wish and have a norther republic. similarly for the biafrans to finally actualize their dream country.

Oodua can finally work forward to re-emerge into a once lost internatiinal greatness.

ndu_chucks: I wish to be educated. What weapon of choice will used by OPC to fight BH? Bows & arrows, shaka bulas, curses by Ifa priests or something else?

OPC has been authorized by the Obas and elders of the land to defend the commonwealth. That's key!

No one knew boko had bombs or IEDs, we discovered their arsenal by each succeeding episode. There are other tactics they have now that are yet to be discovered. You defeat your mission when you announce ahead what cards you hold in your hands. Wait for a discovery in OPC.

Billyonaire: My friend you have a job to do. It is Boko Haram versus OPC; An epic clash, we will be watching you from Biafra!

prepare refugee camps for your brothers.

an attack in SW will lead to cleansing of the land. you are not yoruba so you have no idea what "cleansing"means in this sense. it means if you are non-yoruba its time to vacate.

Real-Mccoy:

I would hate to hear bomb blast in Lagos cos it will definitely affect the whole nation. Lagos is the gate way to the west. Its about time southerners put their traditional religion first before islam. I have a very close friend from Epe , he is a muslim but very deep in ifa worship.

There are only two religions in Yorubaland - Christianity and Islam. If you are Yoruba then you are evrrything that the race is, including Ifa, which is Yoruba belief system. It is mute point to call oneself Yoruba and say im a traditionalist.

Since you are so ignorant, I will educate you. The igbos never asked for war: all they wanted was to go back to their lands, start over and no more be called Nigerians. But the Northerners refused and brought war upon them. No body asked the yorubas to fight, all igbos exepected was that they support their aim. Alas, they sided with the Northerners and labelled Igbos rebels

Prompting the outside world to join in the massacre of the igbo people. If yorubas had told the world we support Biafrans move to be separated from Nigeria: perhaps there wouldn't be a war.

But MOST yorubas joined to label Igbos as rebels whose aim was to thwart development, making a lot of countries to join hands in killing igbos. The igbos were on the defensive then and are still now.

But am for ever grateful that majority of the people that constitute Nigerian Government are Yorubas and Northerners. Yet no development: who's thwarting development now?

if all igbo wanted was to exist as a people in your own land, then why did you create a flag for midwest and then invaded it? was midwest an igboland?

What you failed to explain is how your brother obasabjo masterminded the kidnap of a sitting governor and supported his friends in the destruction of anambara and peoples property. Then you want achebe to accept it and keep quite like a coward?

no president can destroy any state or land unless its a land filled with cowards who have zero will and lack voice to oppose the presidential might. if obj destroyed anambra, then anambra people are coward poussies!

Achebe is a coward for failing to use his scholarship, status and the might of pen, which is the singular thing he is gifted with, to influence a desirable change. Im surprised, greatly surprised that he excluded Obasanjo in his writing on the war. Im sure there are unpublished manuscripts in which he will talk and express his disgust for obj.

In places like the US, they'd put his image on stamps.

accepting the national award would have entailed him returning to nigeria to collect it.

would his security have been guaranteed had he done so?

do you acknowedge why or when he left?

his security who wanted him dead?

cogitoErgo: If OPC is ready to defend Yorubaland with their blood how come they sit there and allow BH to infiltrate Lagos and the whole of SW just for SSS and Army to come to the rescue?
Bunch of noise makers, do they think these people are recognisable? even in the north, your neighbour might be a BH member and you will not know!
Yoruba get mouth sha!

we refuse to stop anybody coming to Yorubaland, but we dare anybody to attack our race.

i was in a northern forum last night and even hausas are talking about relocating to SW temporarily until things calm down in north and they can return home.

Ken Nnamani Center for Foolishness need to seek a public holiday for him in biafra, not in Nigeria. We do not need embittered spirits on a hinor roll. His bitterness led him to turn down national honors twice.

Here is what he said against Anambra and reason for not wanting the honor.

"I have watched particularly the chaos in my own state of Anambra where a small clique of renegades, openly boasting its connections in high places, seems determined to turn my homeland into a bankrupt and lawless fiefdom. I am appalled by the brazenness of this clique and the silence, if not connivance, of the Presidency."

On Nobel Prize he said this.

My position is that the Nobel Prize is important. But it is a European prize. It's not an African prize.... Literature is not a heavyweight championship. Nigerians may think, you know, this man has been knocked out. It's nothing to do with that

Achebe has no grace for a man who posesses such mastery in writing.

NINETOFIVE: One would be surprised of this new development, judging by how the Yorubas always try to defend and align themselves with the Hausa Fulani hegemony. The Christian Yorubas has been dumb all these while, they agree to every things their elites { who happened to be predominantly Muslins and takes most of their decisions based on these very premise} say. The Bokoharam can not infiltrate the South west without the involvement of the South Western Muslims, believe me You guys would never know how divided you are religiously is only a mater of time.

Im a Yoruba first...with everything that is packaged in it...then im a muslim next. When its time to slaughter Christians in SW im doing it on non-Yorubas living in Yorubaland. Yoruba blood is sacred to me.

Let us know when this cleansing you highly desire need to begin.

dayokanu: The only thing Ashebe promoted in Nigeria was tribalism.

He died a bitter man. He was bitter against everything in life. Bitter against Yoruba, against Awolowo, Against Nobel committee, against Nigeria

His bitterness obviously killed him.

It would have been better if Ashebe died a year ago than now when all his legacy are now tainted with trialism

He would be remembered for being a Bigot

Thats why Soyinka excelled over him anyday

Soyinka, A Yoruba man supported and was jailed for Biafra

Soyinka a Yoruba man supported and was the spokesman for the niger Delta

Soyinka was way ahead of Ashebe in all walks of life

......you left out that he was bitter against honorary awards by both obj and gej.

Achebe was a very bitter and caustic man, his literary gift notwithstanding.

His writing was rich but his person was shallow and blunt.

Mr. Globe:

Achebe clearly gave valid reasons why he rejected the worthless national honours. He is a man of conviction. Achebe is not a politician he did his best in his capacity as a writer. He brought so many positive attention to Nigeria. I don't know what you expect of him. The whole world adore him. Igbos do too. we don't care about irrelevant Yoruba opinion. Get off his d1ck

what were his reasons....please share with us.

he brought positive attention to iboland and negative attention to other people land. how is that a good contribution to nigeria?

You are one among many reasons Nigeria is a dead-end piece of junk. Achebe was and remained one of few major contributors to Africa’s progress. You are too ignorant to even begin to comprehend Achebe’s contribution to the progress of entire African continent. In USA, authors of text books that hold rare knowledge are valued more than an idiotic politician who claimed to have granted free education, built TV Station, roads, bridges or stadia by using public fund. An author used his\her natural endowment, time and money to publish books so that drooling airheads such you had the opportunity to spew crap.

If moronic dingbats such as you had followed a bit of Achebe’s preaching and forget the never-do-well structure on a sandy foundation such as Nigeria, the region would have experienced explosion of progress and mutual corporations among nation states rather than ethnical and sectarian massacres prevalent in Nigeria today.

I shall never want to have you as a compatriot.

please enumerate his contributions to Africa beginning with Nigeria.

Achebe was an ingrate! Twice conferred with national awards and he turned it down each time citing corruption. You should share with us how, sitting in US, he contributed at home to remove the very ill he vehemently opposed. The truth is Achebe remained bitter to his death and he never brought himself around to accept and reconcile the biafran defeat in his own spirit. By accepting a Nigerian honorary award would be an acceptance that his biafran identity is defeated and lost forever. He ended up personifying the Okonkwo of Things Fall Apart.

Culture / Re: Why Did Yoruba Culture Survive In Latin America And Not Igbo Or Others by NegroNtns(m): 2:30pm On Mar 23, 2013
Abagworo: Maybe you mean aspects of language and culture in what we now call Yoruba because Yoruba wasn't in existence then. Most African cultures are represented but Yoruba(as we know it today) may be the loudest because they went there more recently than others.

Yoruba had always been in existence. Ive heard people say it was a name given by Hausa, I wonder where Hausa got the name from. Yoruba and Yauri are the same people and settled in the same migrant epoch, one settled South, the other went North. Egba, Ijebu, Ijesha, Awori, Ugbo, Itsekiri....these were all members in the Yoruba nation but only Oyo was known as Yoruba back then.

Yoruba is dominant in the Americas because in the struggles to freedom and self-rule Yorubas were actively involved particularly in South Americas. Also, the Yoruba slaves were in the elite class of the slave communities in both North and South America. If order of arrival would explain the lasting cultural footprint then Fulani should be the culture surviving and not Yoruba.
