4 Reasons Why You Should Own a Website

It makes it easier to contact you
Having a personal website allows you to highlight what channels you prefer to be contacted through, whether it’s via phone, e-mail, LinkedIn or Twitter. Furthermore, including keywords such as your city and industry name on your website, will increase your chances of appearing higher in search rankings.

“I freelance a lot, and my primary way of clients contacting me is through my website,” says Bosley Jarrett, a rising senior at Vanderbilt University who runs his own photography business, Bosley Jarrett Photography. “I’ve probably shot 10 gigs this year that people contacted me [about] out of the blue just from searching on Google and finding my website.”

You Can Make a Small Business Appear Much Bigger
“If Google teaches you anything, it’s that small ideas can be big.”
Ben Silbermann (Pinterest)

A professionally designed website can create the impression that your business is well-established and prosperous – it doesn’t matter if you are working from your bedroom. This ability to make a small business appear much bigger gives you the opportunity to really make a dent in the marketplace.

You Can Develop Your Creativity with a Website
The most effective way to nurture your creativity is to express it. If you are a writer, you can create a blog on your website and commit to adding new content every week. If you are an artist or musician, you can commit to adding a certain number of new pieces every month. This means that the act of maintaining your website can give you the opportunity to express your talent on a regular basis. Creativity can be a bit like a muscle – the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

You Can Promote Your Business Products or Services Cheaply
A website is the most cost-effective way to promote your products and services. You can potentially reach millions of people from all around the globe. This type of exposure would cost a fortune using traditional advertising, but it costs very little to launch a website as a promotional tool.

We provide a complete solution for internet consultancy which includes:
- Website Design,
- Domain and Web Hosting Services
- And Web Development (online store, blog, content management, Portals (hotel, hospital, education, automobile (car dealers), supermarkets) e.t.c.

Being a member of this house, I look forward to developing and running your websites at a very affordable cost. I can send you sample sites on request.

Car Talk / Car Brake Pads: How Often Should They Be Replaced? by neksummi(m): 9:10am On Sep 28, 2017
The brake system is one of the most important in cars, in urgent situations they can bring a car to an abrupt stop preventing it from colliding with obstacles or other cars. Thus the importance of an effective braking system cannot be underestimated. Components in this system that have a crucial role to play are called the brake pads. They apply pressure and create friction required to stop a moving car.

As one of the main functions of a car is moving from one point to the other, this then means that the brake pads will be constantly put to use as far as the car is operating and in motion. This article seeks to address how often brake pad needs replacement as well as signs of a worn brake pad.

How often should I replace my brake pad?

The frequency to which you need to replace your brake pads will be unique to the car; you’re driving and other factors. There is no set time for brake pad replacement because they are wear components that can be affected by several factors. Where you drive i.e. within the city or always traveling is one factor that can affect how a brake pad wears out. Cars driven regularly within a town tend to have brake pads that wear faster; this is because of the frequent usage of the brakes within the city as compared to when you are traveling.

Vehicle weight is also another factor that affects brake pad wear; you require more braking power to slow down or stop a heavier car and vice versa. Finally, the type of brake pad used can also determine how long it will last. All these factors taken into consideration can be used to estimate how frequent a brake pad needs replacement. However, it is advisable to always inspect your brake pad by a qualified mechanic or engineer after every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or at least twice a year. But if you hear any unfamiliar noise when braking and feel your brakes don’t function normally; please get your vehicle inspected immediately.

How to tell your brake pads are worn out

Some modern cars have wear sensors to detect when the brake pads are wearing out. But without sensors signs such as loud screeching when you step on the brakes, car pulling to one side, vibrations from brake pedal when you step on it, the reduced thickness of the brake pads, scratches on the brake disc etc are signs telling you that your brake pads are worn.

For best results that would save you time and money, it is best to trust the professionals when your brake pads are worn because we will always be able to help you with tasks that you are not familiar with.

Na waa! The new awardees have taken over this thread. I am interested but have no updates to share.

We tried to make new applicants start a new thread but everyone seemed to like to go with an existing active thread.

And the unorganized nature of the whole GEM thing hasn't helped matters. No definite timeline like YouWin!

I would like to add that you also build your website on search engine friendly platforms. Siterubix is one such platform.

Dear GEM awardee, The training session above mentioned could it be the category of selection for new GEM grants after the induction?

I doubt if this GEM has anything to do with the GEM we're discussing here. They are two different entities!

Hi All,
Please I have a couple of questions:
1. Does YouWin ask for equity in return for giving the grant? If so how much equity?
2. Whats the current grant amount?
3. Can a Nigerian living overseas (and who intends to set up business in Nigeria) apply for this?
Many thanks in advance for your response
Kind regards.

For now YouWin us in hibernation. Check out www.bigportal.org.ng
