Even in our filthiness He loved us first
He seeks for a moment when you will surrender your ALL to HIM
Casting all your burdens upon Him. He is making you to be like Him.
All that is required of us is to love Him better.
For you to declare that "there is no you without Him"
Pledge your allegiance to Him for He is the master of all.
We see His glory each day. It changes us and all things around us.
It gives us miracles and wonder. The earth speaks of His glory.
All He created radiates His glory.
Oh what a perfect God!
Aren't you tired of making the same mistakes over and over again?
If you are, do you choose to be refreshed?
Then prepare to go higher. It is your time.

Mrs Adams saw the police cars as soon as her entourage turned the corner. She had gone visiting a friend since morning. The media were massed at the front gate, held back by police but demanding instant answers. She knew something was wrong. Her first reaction was panic. In the next instant she was running towards her house.
"What's going on here?" She cried, pushing against the cordon of police officers who blocked her front door.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, there was a shoot out and your daughter was not found. Our men were found dead at the scene." One of the officer said.
"Oh my God," she moaned, falling back. Her head falling inside her head, her shoulders started to shake with a grief she no longer tried to hide. She fainted and when she was revived, she stayed conscious only long enough for the doctor to give her a sedative. Later, much later, when the sedative they gave her started to take effect and her mind was hovering in the mid-ground between dreams and reality, her thoughts kept returning on how her day had been spent, how things might have been different. She would have attended the church with her daughter. Somehow it was her fault because she had changed the routine and went visiting.
They had waited patiently for the calls so as to prepare a ransom but none came in. She was worried because she loved her daughter. She glanced at the wall clock in her room as it was 3:15 in the afternoon. Her phone vibrated, she took it from the table. It was a message from a certain number not registered in her phone book. It read thus "Meet me at New city Hotel room 49 by 7am tomorrow. If you want your daughter to live: come alone and let no one know about the meeting."

She had grown up in a house full of music. Her father was always singing, and all Esther's earliest and strongest memories were built around her father's vibrant baritone raised in song. Her father Mr. Edwards Adams, Governor of Lagos State, was a man who she respected because of his peculiarities. Aside from singing, Edwards was a prolific painter. She didn't understand why she is always the victim of every kidnapping incident in their home. Maybe because she was the only one who insisted studying in Nigeria. Her elder sister Kelly was presently doing her masters at Germany, her younger brother at Europe studying Law. She sighed as she realized her environment. She looked around and discovered the building is incomplete which signifies that her captors hideout was deep in the forest. She couldn't grasp at the reason why the girl was so angry at her. They are so different from the people who had kidnapped her in time past. She had lied to them about her name. Why would they even ask her about that? Are they so immature and inconsistent? She really need to get back home. She closed her eyes and prayed.

********************************

Mike awakened with a start. He sat up, disoriented. He glanced at his wrist watch and then blinked in disbelieve.
Three o'clock? In the afternoon?
The events of the morning came rushing back: kidnapping zoe, Rita drove off their hideout in anger . A lump formed in his throat. He was not a kidnapper. He was a graduate but the zeal for the revenge of his father's death kept him on this track. He needed not the money. His plans were for him to get the governor to confess to his crime. He wasn't going to get away with it, he promised. He remembered Rita's fit and her angered he breathed deeply through his nose, focusing on what he needed to do. He didn't have time to be weak-kneed or light-headed all because of his supposed love to Rita. He needed to execute his vengeance and not to extort money which he will give with no stress. After all it is the sweat of the citizens, their tax and hard works. He needed him to suffer the pain he suffered after the death of his father. He stood and walked to the room where Zoe was. He found her asleep, he shook her and she opened her eyes.
An ache rose in his jaw, and Mike realized his teeth were tightly clamped. For a long time now, he'd been incapable of any emotion except deep, caustic anger. Day after day it ate at him, like a vulture picking at his entails. Dying would have been easier than living like this. Thoughts of revenge flickered through his mind. Get it over and done with, he told himself, and then finally - maybe - he would find rest.
His gaze traveled to Zoe once more. Maybe justice demanded that Edwards Adam pay a greater forfeit, he thought. Maybe it required that the man lose something he held even dearer than his own contemptible life. He picked up his phone from his back pocket and sent a text message. He smiled to himself and walked out.
Esther was dumbfounded because she didn't understand why he just smiled and also why he hasn't called her father yet. She was sad and didn't know when the tears flowed.

PROLOGUE

FLASHLIGHT

Ngozi sat at the steps of Mercy Hospital as she sobbed quietly. Two days ago her 12 years old sister, Ozioma was admitted at the hospital. She was diagnosed of Hepatitis a chronic infection of the liver and had problem breathing. Ngozi heard a noise behind her and stood to see Rev. Samuel their local church resident pastor as he walked down with her aunt, Ego. She wiped her tears and looked up to them.
"Rev. What is happening? The doctor ignored my pleas to enter Ozioma's room. I need to see her.?
The Rev. sighed. Ngozi noticed the look on their faces, her heart skipped a beat. Her aunt avoided her gaze and stared at the wall.
"Nne. We have to leave." The Rev replied
"Why? I just bought the pap she requested. I need to go prepare it." She took a step forward but was stopped by the Rev.
"Please. Just listen for a moment. I will tell you more when we get home."
She sighed and obediently followed them to the car. She didn't fail to have noticed her aunt's silence. She still whimpered and couldn't open up a conversation. There was silent all through the drive home. The Rev drove straight to the church instead of her home. She secretly wondered why. She alighted from the vehicle and walked inside the manse. Her phone rang, she reluctantly glanced at the screen to view the caller I.D and it showed Sir Chukwu, her uncle. She picked with anticipation expecting update on her sisters health.
"Ngozi. Can you hear me clearly?" He asked.
"Yes sir."
"Listen to me, your sister Ozioma is dead. You have to hold yourself together and take care of your other siblings. You are their mother. Don't forget that."
The world froze for a while and Ngozi was deaf for a second as her body rejected the news. Hot tears streamed down her cheeks, her vision was blurred. She dropped the phone and screamed, she turned and flung the door open. She ran into the church, headed straight to the alter, she cried out loud and asked a question she never asked before "God why?". Her body shook, quivered like a drenched rat in the rain. She wept out loud till there was no tears left. She screamed at the four walls of the church. She was shattered, her faith flattered. She felt lost. She was angry and couldn't grasp at a source of her anger in particular. Death? God? She was angered deep to her bones. She felt like smashing her fists into something or someone. Her mind was in disarray as she ran out of the church into the busy street. She heard a horn but couldn't stop. She ran into a speedy car. She was hit and all she wished for was death. The last thing she remembered was a light that shone so bright and blinded her. Then there was darkness.
