Ibeno can't be counted as ijaw because the ibibio influence there overrides ijaw influence. I know ibeno peeps who speak only ibibio and answer ibibio names.

Check ibeno platforms on FB and you'll see most of them answering bassey,udoh,Edet,ekpo,etc and those are definitely not ijaw names.

There is no Ijaw in cross river state. Ijaw have one LGA in Akwa ibom which is Eastern Obolo. In Edo, there are Ijaws in ovia south and west.

And Ibeno , though they are mixed with Ibibio

The problem with some of you is that you don't read between the lines. I never said that Kalabari or Okrika people are not Ijaws. I'm saying that i've met few people from these places who say they are not Ijaw. It's that simple. There's no grand rejection of the Ijaw tag like you would have with Ikwerres concerning Igbo.

As long as you have clarified this, because if you are aware of the above, you shouldn't have brought up Kalabari, Okirika people's Ijawness as a comparison to the Ikwerre Igboness

I'm not even talking Ikwerre individuals because their opinions on ethnicity may differ based on who you meet, I'm talking about recognised Ikwerre organizations lile Ogbakor Ikwerre that say they aren't Igbos, now in that same regard which recognized pan Ibani or pan Kalabari group in that same mould of Ogbakor Ikwerre has come out to reject the Ijaw ethnic tag

Lol. What makes Kalabari to be Ijaw? Do they speak like Ijaws from Bayelsa? What about the Andonis? Do an Ijaw from Bayelsa understand him when he speaks? Yet you can call all of these groups Ijaw but want to call Ikwerres something else from Igbo. It is that same similarity that connects Kalabari to Ijaws in Bayelsa that connects Ikwerre to other Igbo clans.

Kalabari, Andoni and other Ijaw subgroups in Rivers don't deny being Ijaw, I'm an Ijaw from Rivers state, Bayelsa itself is a recent creation from Rivers state

Etche to me is a pure Igbo group, there dialect is no different from Aba people, Ikwerre identity on the other hand is understandable because of the heavy mixture with Ijaw groups like Kalabari and Okrika their language shows more difference than other igboid groups
