Kalabari is more specific to the riverine people of rivers state Abonnema, buguma, degema, soku, elem kalabari, even okirika tombia bakana etc are all considered kalabari until you meet those of the purist school of thought who believe the undiluted kalabari people are Abonnema and ... and ... He is from south south nigeria, Rivers state, he is kalabari, Nemitari is a kalabari name Ajienka is also a kalabari name.

KALABARI people are well read and we have no relationship with biafra whatsoever we speak a completely different dialect, dress differently only that when the white men came to naija via our sea port for slaves we did business with them sold igbo people to them so some of our people especially bonny people started learning igbo to know how the slaves think. The igbos who sold their fellow igbo people sold to us through the arochukwu shrine and other means our chiefs had slaves and where given white people names such as green, white, Duke, bob, barthwell, braide, Georgewill, the list is endless to feel like the whiteman and for better interaction.
