President Buhari has a near perfect score in being a Democratic Leader. Even when his friends and party men have received brutally unfavourable treatments, he has carried himself with dignity and respect. Unlike what was obtained in the past - where friends of those presidents were untouchables.

AIT was not closed for insulting President Buhari, they have been doing that for years. Nobody cares, not even the President.

AIT was closed for refusal to pay its fees that are due and for using its platform to incite anarchy.

We can ignore insults on the President, but any attack on public peace is completely unacceptable.

AIT will pay their licence fee that is due to regain it.

NBC will uphold regulations to ensure sanity in the media sector.

Media practitioners will be held responsible for the content they unload on the public.

Anything else is just noise.

who told you that they haven't paid their license fees, you are ignorant of what you are saying here .AIT has been operating for more than a 2 decades now and you are here displaying your ignorance here. AIT was attacked due to the voices of the masses they aired in their TV and radio stations. Tvc can't do that .
Keep spinning and screaming. Broadcasting License Fees are not a one time payment. AIT must pay its dues.

There is no voice of the masses in peddling sponsored documentaries littered in falsehood and insinuations.

Keep wailing.

Though the site contradicts itself on the reason for the suspension (may be in order to attract visitors with the heading which is typical of the Nigerian system), the reason churned out by NBC does not add up. If you check NUJ's reaction, they've made it clear that there are other measures to make DAAR Communications Ltd pay for the alleged offenses than revoking license. Time, will actually reveal that which we are not allowed to know
They have been meetings and written warnings. It is not like NBC took the action overnight.

This action will bring AIT to the table, help them adopt a payment plan for what they owe and be responsible in the contents they unload on the public.

FG Crackdown On AIT: British BskyB withdraws NTA from its sky channel 781
Posted By: Ikokwu Ikembaon: June 07, 2019In: Breaking News, Business, NationNo Comments Print Email
British BskyB has withdrawn NTA from its sky channel 781, this was made known today even as its other carrier BEN TV stops NTAi’s broadcast.

Although the reason BskyB stopped transmitting NTA can not be independently verified by this medium, we do know that its transmission on the British platform has been stopped just as BEN TV has also stopped broadcasting NTA on his platform, coincidentally on a day Nigeria government announced a crackdown on a major independent broadcaster in Nigeria.

Breaking Times can not expressly connect the withdrawal to the current NBC crackdown on DAAR Communications.

More details shortly.

See the Contradiction guys. You are telling everyone it has been suspended, but also you don't know if it has been suspended.

If AIT wants to become Bloggers so they can ditch out all the lies they want like this guy looking for traffic, they should. But if they want their licence back, they must pay the fee and adhere to regulations.

NBC suspension will never hold , soon the NLC will shut down the economy in protest against the withdrawal of broadcasting license of AIT. Buhari tyranny government will never succeed in this move.
Keep screaming like a trapped witch. All your interest is how much anarchy can befall Nigeria. You wickedness is irredeemable.

Before you are foolish ipob Miscreants to shape your opinion on this issue:

Remember:

Before you blindly call PMB a dictator

1.PDP under Yar Adua suspended CHANNELS TV for violating NBC rules, democracy was not under threat.

2.PDP under Jonathan suspended ADABA radio(a subsidiary of Tinubu's TVC), for breaching broadcast rules, Democracy was "flourishing"

4. Jonathan asked the DSS to mob up all the Newspapers belonging to leadership.

AIT has been suspended and fined by NBC for several and consistent violations of broadcast ethics, failure to pay their licence fees as at when due, despite several written warnings.

Ait like Twitter, Facebook, Nairaland, WhatsApp etc has regulatory supervisions, if go contravene any of their codes, you would be sanctioned including Suspension or ban..

Whipping up sentiments on the social media, won't help their cause. If they feel aggrieved, they should approach the courts for remedy..After all NCC sanctioned MTN we all hailed, is it because it is a South African company?
Gbam. Some folks are just interested in weaponizing this to promote their fallen selfish interests.

AIT should pay what they owe, overhaul their editorial team for better service to Nigerians and adhere to regulations. It is that simple.

From SaharaReporters to TVC
Your efforts to drag and make this about NTA is a distraction from the prevalent issue at hand. AIT must renew their licence when it is due. AIT is a media establishment in service to Nigerian public not only to the PDP.

Also if AIT wants to remain in business, it must abide by laid down regulations and guidelines.
Politics › Re: Press Freedom Vs Integrity Of The Press by netpro(op): 10:55am On Jun 07, 2019
dukie25:
But NTA does the above on behalf of federal govt.
NTA is a government owned media establishment, like anywhere else in the world, it is ok that its contents mostly borders on government programmes. It is not limited to Nigeria, neither did the tradition start with this administration. So your argument is misplaced.

Shutting down opposition broadcast station is upholding standard abi?
Not paying licence fees as at when due and renting out airtime to every Charlie out there to vent and spread rumours and instigating hate is not opposition.

Atiku is already in court. So using AIT to engineer instability is also unacceptable.
Politics › Press Freedom Vs Integrity Of The Press by netpro(op): 10:35am On Jun 07, 2019
AIT has been shutdown by NBC. Instead of ultimatum and anger here and there, we all must cautiously look at all the issues involved and not weaponize it to promote selfish ambitions and interests.

Just like NAFDAC and others, NBC is a regulatory agency task with monitoring the activities of media organisations. That one owns a media establishment does not accord that individual the right to unload whatever they want on the public, operating without renewing licence fees as at when due and ditching any content they like just because someone paid for the content.

Moving forward, how about AIT pay its Licence Fee and and overhaul its Editorial Team with promise to uphold the best practices of the profession?

Just because things have gone bad in Nigeria and everyone is doing whatever they like does not mean Regulations and Standards should not be upheld.

NBC is a regulatory agency of the government, it will not be bullied or blackmailed into looking the other way. Consumers must be protected. It is like telling NAFDAC to ignore people producing and sell adulterated products to consumers just because those people will make profit. Allowing fallen and depressed politicians to poison the minds of Nigerians, tell ridiculous lies and spread shameless rumours will remain unacceptable and must be frowned upon by every well meaning citizen of this country.

While Press Freedom is very important, it must be protected from abuse and from those who want to use it as a tool to destabilise Nigeria and promote their selfish interests.

All the parties involved must act responsibly for the sake of the greater good of Nigerians.
